While fatalities resulting from general anesthesia are incredibly rare, some studies suggest a rate of roughly 2 in 10,000 procedures, which means that every single time such an outcome occurs, it sparks this intense, unavoidable debate over what exactly triggered the event.
To me, 2 in 10,000 feels like a staggering number. :O
Hi there,
My sister’s four-year-old son is dealing with an undescended testicle—or whatever the medical term is for when one hasn't dropped into place yet. He’s going to need surgery, but it requires general anesthesia. Honestly, his mother is absolutely terrified of the whole idea of anesthesia; she’s incredibly hesitant about putting him through any kind of operation at all, arguing that maybe they can just wait it out since these things are sometimes "migratory" and might just settle on their own later. Basically, because she's so scared of the anesthesia, she wants to hold off on the procedure entirely and just wait.
How risky is this kind of surgery when you factor in the anesthesia? And is there any realistic possibility of performing this under local anesthesia instead?

I don't think that's it, because my doctor didn't mention anything like that at all... and surely something like that would be obvious right away, wouldn't it?
For a few weeks now, I’ve been noticing something on my left wrist—it feels like a hard bump or a bit of bone sticking out, and I wanted to share these photos:

The exact same bony sensation exists on my right hand too, though this one on the left is significantly more pronounced; my doctor suggested it might just be "asymmetry," implying the bone structure on my left side is simply more prominent than the right, perhaps exacerbated by repetitive strain from using my computer or phone, especially since I'm left-handed and it's my dominant hand... but honestly, I am quite worried about what this actually is. To make matters worse, my wrist has been aching in a way that's difficult to put into words, and for a while there, the "bump" itself was actually painful too, and sometimes it feels like it's swelling up and then shrinking back down, though I can't say for certain.
In case these shots are a bit blurry, here is an example I found on Google that clearly shows the exact spot where mine is located:

You have to understand that while the Vedas are indeed the foundational bedrock of Hinduism, they’ve become somewhat sidelined in modern discourse because contemporary beliefs have drifted so far from those ancient roots; see, today, the concept of reincarnation sits at the very heart of Hindu practice, yet if you actually dive into the oldest Vedic texts, you'll find mentions of heaven and hell, but not a single solitary word regarding the cycle of rebirth like we see now today
It really is quite a struggle to bridge that theological gap in our current era
7, oh man, haha, my mistake—I meant to say the month
I just wanted to give you all a quick update because I finally had my checkup, and thank God, the heartbeat is strong and steady, which is such a massive relief, so I am officially seven months along now. However, the spotting just hasn't stopped, and it’s honestly been continuing exactly the same way it has been, and I am just sitting here feeling so lost on what to do next :/ it happens a little bit every single day, and I can't help but wonder if it is truly possible that this is nothing more than a lingering hematoma that is just slowly draining out of me. Is the baby actually at risk? My doctor keeps insisting everything is fine and tells me not to worry, but honestly, I just wish she could understand how much this is weighing on me.

You're still in the very earliest stages of your pregnancy, and based on everything you've shared here so far, things seem to be progressing exactly as they should.
Everything is going to turn out fine.
I’m feeling a bit better now, just taking it easy and resting, and I'm holding onto hope that everything works out—if God wills it, it will all be okay.
So, I started dealing with those discharges last Friday, and they just kept coming until Thursday, but then everything seemed to settle down, only for things to shift again—now it’s looking more like old blood, just a tiny amount, really,
Has anyone else here ever gone through something exactly like this?
Angela Wright said:Look, those first three months are really the make-or-break period, if you know what I mean, and if—heaven forbid—things start to go wrong with the pregnancy, there isn't much modern medicine can actually do to intervene. At most, you might be prescribed something like Progesterone to help stabilize things, and you’ll definitely need to take it easy and avoid any heavy lifting or sudden movements, for instance.
You should definitely pick up some Elevit; it’s packed with everything both you and the baby need, especially right now during this early stage when folic acid is absolutely critical for the development of the nervous system.
Everything sounds fine from my perspective. Just try to relax and don't put all this unnecessary pressure on yourself.
If you happen to experience any significant bleeding, please head straight to the ER immediately.
I understand all of that, I really do, but it’s still weighing heavily on my mind, honestly, so I am just sitting here hoping for nothing but good news, even though deep down I worry the odds might be against us.
dustymaker642, how long did your bleeding actually last? I had a bit of a situation this morning where I started spotting—it was mostly old blood and honestly, nothing hurts at all, which is a little strange. I was reading online that this might be a side effect of taking Duphaston? It’s just confusing because I didn't have any discharge at all for about two or three days, and then suddenly this happens... I really don't know what to make of it.
I have my next ultrasound scheduled for this Friday, and I am just praying to Bog that we can actually hear the heartbeat this time; those breast pains have finally subsided, thank God. What really keeps me on edge, though, is how inconsistent everything feels—there are days when I don't feel any symptoms at all, like my breasts aren't even tender, and the pain isn't always constant or predictable. It’s that unpredictability that scares me so much, and honestly, I am counting down every single second until Friday arrives.
I went in for my checkup today, and since I’ve just officially hit the five-week mark, things felt a bit uncertain because they couldn't actually pick up the fetal heartbeat yet... is that actually normal? My doctor insists everything is perfectly fine and just too early to tell, but I can't help feeling a little skeptical, almost as if she was just saying what I wanted to hear to keep me calm.
Regarding the issue at hand, it turns out I'm dealing with a retroplacental hematoma; I've been doing a fair amount of reading up on the subject, and they've prescribed some medication to help manage it. What I really want to know is whether anyone else here has navigated this exact same situation, and more importantly, how things ultimately turned out for you?
Yesterday, I finally took a pregnancy test, and honestly, I was absolutely over the moon when those two lines appeared—it felt surreal. Since my cycle and ovulation are usually all over the place, seeing that positive result felt even more monumental than I expected. But then, less than twenty-four hours later, I noticed some brownish spotting while I was in the bathroom, and I just can't wrap my head around this happening... I haven't stopped crying since. My husband is being incredibly sweet and trying his best to comfort me, telling me it might be perfectly normal, but the anxiety is overwhelming. I have an appointment scheduled with my OB-GYN tomorrow, but I am finding it nearly impossible to stay calm and patient until then.
Has anyone else here gone through something similar, and if so, how did everything turn out for you? 😢
Ever since I hit my first period, things have been incredibly unpredictable; it’s not unusual for three or four months to pass by without me seeing any sign of it at all. Is this some kind of warning sign that I might be infertile???
