COVID-19 and the salvation of the soul in Spirituality ·
Joseph Bailey41 said:Since we're on the subject of bacteria, did you know the average human carries around about 200 grams of these little microbes both on and inside them? Just a little refresher for anyone who might have been daydreaming during third-grade science class.

https://learn.genetics.utah.edu/cont...biome/friends/

And apparently, there's this claim that a human actually contains more bacteria than there are atoms in their entire structure—which, if it turns out to be true, is absolutely mind-blowing.

-If you’re feeling a bit lonely lately, don't sweat it. You actually have bacteria living right on your face like this 🙂 😲 And yes, I'm serious—we all carry these little guys around on our skin 😲

-Now, if you're feeling spooked and suddenly feel like you have epidemiological proof that you've been taken hostage—well, just head to your doctor or dermatologist every single day and report the threat to the police

-And if you happen to be in charge of the government, why not show us you actually care about our well-being?

-Go ahead and ban everyone from leaving their houses because these terrifying "alien" microbes might spread, and before you know it, we won't be pretty anymore and we'll all suffer a slow end as this bacteria slowly consumes us 🙂

==
To top it all off, these bacteria are downright perverted; they basically have a little rendezvous on your face every night while you sleep 😲

Look, this is what science says, not just some random theory from hiddenpuma75, so stay vigilant and declare a national pandemic!

http://thehorrormoviesblog.com/2020/...-live-on-face/

Look, who cares if it looks gross? this organism living on our faces doesn't actually have an exit strategy for its digestive system, which means they have incredibly short lifespans before they literally explode because they are packed full of waste. Seriously—your face is constantly breaking out because of the intestinal explosions of microscopic spiders.

Now you finally understand why people are generally more prone to breakouts on their faces than anywhere else on the body. They're just full of crap, and most people aren't even aware of it (pun absolutely intended).
Pity sex and sex as a reward for effort. in Psychology ·
When it comes to the psychology behind it all, I’ll just say this: sex is treated like a taboo for maybe two or three valid reasons and a hundred terrible ones—which, if you actually do the math, means it shouldn't be a taboo at all. Personally, I’m all for people doing what they want and having sex whenever the mood strikes, as long as they aren't swapping partners as frequently as they swap out dirty socks or turning intimacy into some massive, overblown drama. At the end of the day, why does anyone even care about the motives?

hiddenpuma75 said:Honestly, who do you think you are, acting like some health inspector or a vaccine zealot? 😛 😵

Does that even change the point of my post or those awful photos?

Come on, just be honest—did you realize you had these mites living on your face, having little parties right there while you sleep? 😲

The thing is, about 90% of people act like this coronavirus is some sentient creature flying through the air, thinking everything they touch or even mention is dangerous, that it never sleeps, is indestructible, and that we should just blindly follow whatever the CDC or the government tells us.

I have literally heard people tell me exactly that.

They say if this wasn't EXTREMELY dangerous, all these MASSIVE measures wouldn't be happening.

And following that logic—

When someone is in power, they naturally assume they're much smarter than the average Joe who isn't.

The truth is, truly intelligent people generally have zero desire to hold office because being in power means spending your entire life dealing with an endless sea of idiots, constantly micromanaging chaos, placating an uninformed public, and listening to ridiculous demands and useless requests all day long.

Most people clawing their way into political positions are just narcissists who crave the ego boost of authority and the constant, hollow adoration of the masses. Does that actually make them smart? Of course not. If you ask me, our top politicians in Washington are mostly average at best, if not outright dim-witted. Honestly, half the time I listen to their press conferences and official statements, I walk away feeling like I've just spent twenty minutes listening to complete morons.

bluemason3 said:Is there actually any solid ground for this kind of romanticizing primitivism? Or was this just part of that old, debunked, pseudo-religious obsession with the "noble savage" that used to be popular in Europe? If this theory is less than 50 years old, there’s zero justification for it.

From what I understand, anthropology and archaeology paint a pretty brutal picture of hunter-gatherer tribal life—honestly, it's not exactly a lifestyle I'd be jumping at.

Socially speaking.

Psychologically, I find the dismissal of severe cognitive limitations even harder to swallow—specifically regarding the lack of verbal and symbolic reasoning or long-term planning. And yet, people use modern tools to criticize the very systems they're ignoring.
Then again, maybe it makes sense coming from someone posting this nonsense; if you're operating on a significantly lower cognitive level, perhaps you can only find common ground with others in the same boat.

Has anyone actually managed to stay sane and level-headed among these clowns?

Nowadays, it seems like any random person who can string a sentence together or drop a three-syllable word is suddenly crowning themselves a philosopher.

Even on this specific subforum, I’m seeing more people just regurgitating what someone else said rather than actually presenting their own coherent, rational thoughts. It makes the ancient Greeks turn in their graves.
David Vaughn75 said:So, what's the pay grade here? Are you getting paid to try and "fix" random people on the internet, or are you doing this whole unsolicited life-coaching thing for free?

I have absolutely no idea which "tough guys" you think I'm talking about, and quite frankly, I am not out here trying to change anyone's life.
David Vaughn75 said:Nope.
Bad is bad, period. Doesn't matter if things change tomorrow or stay trash forever.

Because trying to stumble onto actual truth through pure speculation is damn near impossible. I mean, sure, it happens, but it's like winning the Powerball when you're one in a million.

Not necessarily just one, but every single one of them has to be a pure servant of God.

They're just being carried by good karma.

And once that karma runs out, they crash hard into depression and end up chasing a high just to feel something again.

Maya is riding on Krishna's back, which means if you're truly looking at Krishna, you won't see the Maya.

It sounds like you just have a miserable outlook on everything. Honestly, maybe if you swapped out your forum, stopped chasing after fake gods and hollow spirituality, and actually started learning something useful, you wouldn't feel this way? You probably feel like crap because you're wasting your life on nonsense, and that tiny shred of common sense you have left is trying to tell you to stop poisoning your own mind.

We’ll just have to wait and see if that part actually matters or not.

Weekend Warrior

So, Reich wrote about the three levels of consciousness.
The foundational mindset starts with that classic Wild West persona. Think of the rugged frontiersman—a true individualist who lives by a strict "every man for himself" code, with God watching over it all.

The typical consciousness of the mid-century American is exactly what we’re talking about here. It’s that conservative, deeply conformist mindset where a person's entire sense of self-worth is tied to external validation—whether that's prestige from their university, approval from their employer, or just keeping up appearances with the neighbors. It is the quintessential one-dimensional rebel described by Marcuse.

The "Third Consciousness" concept was actually quite groundbreaking when that book came out back in 1970. It describes a whole new counterculture. A typical person in this movement tends to be deeply skeptical—not just of the government, but of older generations and established rules in general. They’re very direct, act naturally, and have a real appetite for experimentation, whether that’s through things like marijuana or other lifestyle shifts. They’re playful, open-minded, and driven by one core value: absolute freedom.

Every different culture is going to shape a person's development and final state of consciousness differently—honestly, the guy is just stating the obvious here.

Humans have been using marijuana and other naturally occurring substances for thousands of years; that isn't some groundbreaking revelation. What *is* a relatively recent phenomenon is that during the 20th century, these things were criminalized for completely irrational, uninformed, and dogmatic reasons. If he truly wrote what you're claiming, then he is catastrophically ill-informed and shouldn't be treated as a reliable source of information at all.

I mean, come on—God isn't exactly gonna drop something into your lap that you wouldn't personally consider an upgrade, right?

So what, we're all supposed to just eat crap because there are infinite ways to argue that crap is better than something else?

You haven't convinced me—I'm sticking to the good stuff.

Let me see if I’ve actually followed your train of thought here: is your entire argument basically that since there's a theoretical infinity of options that are superior, we should just settle for eating garbage by default? Is that really where we're at?

Amanda Jackson5 said:Jared Diamond once went on record arguing that the invention of agriculture was the single greatest mistake humanity ever made.

Honestly, the biggest mistake humanity ever made isn't any specific invention or era—it's the fact that we simply refuse to learn from our own blunders.
The whole idea of asking "what if I just changed my reality?" is honestly such an absurd, half-baked question because the possibilities and answers are quite literally infinite.

Benjamin Alvarez18 said:Hey everyone, I honestly don't even know where to start, but I'm just feeling absolutely terrible. I actually just got back from the ER, but they didn't really do much to help. Ever since the earthquake, I feel like I've completely lost my mind... I just can't see the point in anything anymore 😢. I've mostly just been sipping on some tea, though I started taking Melatonin recently, which helps a little bit, I guess. I've been dealing with this stuff since 2009, and I'm 37 now

Benjamin Alvarez18 said:I don't really want to get all caught up in the distractions, I just kind of want to figure out who I actually am at my core...

Benjamin Alvarez18 said:Back when I was fifteen, I pretty much had it all figured out—I was on top of my game... but I guess I lost that spark somewhere along the way, especially after I ended up enrolling in a college major I never actually wanted to do in the first place.

If you think you’re going to get any meaningful help by tossing out these tiny, half-baked, "intuitive" little answers, then you’re seriously mistaken. You really think people can help you if they don't actually know what's causing the friction? If you truly want support from others, you have to be transparent about where this stress is actually coming from! I'm obviously not talking about venting on an internet forum—that's one thing—but if you want real clarity, shouldn't you be opening up completely to someone close to you? Or better yet, why not talk to a professional? Someone like a licensed psychologist is much more likely to actually understand the complexities of what you're going through than anyone else.
Joseph Bailey41 said:Well, in that case, I truly hope you hit that goal. 🙂

Personally, I don't find your way of writing funny—it’s more beautiful, inspiring, and poetic to me... which makes it spiritual in a broader sense. So, I really hope you keep posting here on this subforum.

When I said "make me laugh," I didn't mean I was expecting a full-blown belly laugh! Honestly, just that little smirk, that tiny twitch at the corner of the mouth that reaches the ears? That's more than enough of a reaction for me.
Joseph Bailey41 said:That’s a beautiful way to put it, though there aren't really many theists hanging out in this corner of the internet. 😁

Look, I don't actually care how many theists are lurking around; my point was whether my specific brand of sarcasm would actually land a laugh from at least one person (besides myself), and honestly? Mission accomplished.
My spiritual mentor isn't some guy in a robe; it’s my entire environment, the raw reality I breathe in, and every single experience that hits my senses or drops a fresh bit of knowledge into my lap.

My spiritual mentor is found in every single new answer to every single new question I dare to ask.

My spiritual mentor is the very force that, through sheer action, elevated humanity far above every other species on this planet.

My spiritual mentor holds this staggering, almost terrifying potential within the minds of nearly everyone who puts their faith in it, yet why on earth can we never seem to witness that potential manifesting as a collective?

My spiritual mentor doesn't have a face, but it possesses a voice that very few actually bother to listen to—and an identity that everyone knows.

That name is Reason.

Disclaimer: any resemblance to Bog is purely intentional satire aimed at those spiritual squabbles known as theism.
