I can only imagine how intense that first day at the local state hospital was for you. Being thrown into a group of thirty people and being told to introduce yourself—who you are, what happened, why you're there—is just overwhelming. Especially when you’re feeling lost and don't even have the answers yet :-).

Arthur Vaughn2 said:So, I just switched to a new antidepressant since the last one (Celexa) didn't do a single thing for me.
It's Venlafaxine XL. 75mg in the morning.
I've been on it for about a week now, and honestly, I think I might be feeling slightly better.
Now for the big question: is it actually starting to kick in already, or am I just experiencing a placebo effect because I'm desperately hoping it works?
Also, for those of you who have taken this, is it normal for it to kill your appetite? I haven't felt hungry at all—I just don't feel any urge to eat. Not that I'm complaining, I'm just wondering if it's the medication or something else...

I would truly appreciate finding someone to talk to about this, maybe to share experiences regarding medications and side effects...
Also, one more thing—regarding those on this forum who take Calista—I’m currently on 15mg a day in the evening, and if I miss a dose, I can't even sleep. My doctor re-prescribed it, so I'm making sure to take it regularly now ☕
Kate Ramos93 said:@Alexiss 🙂 Hi there!
I was wondering if you deal with hunger spikes on Seroquel too? I managed to get things mostly under control while I was on Olanzapine, but I slipped up again tonight and ate late 🙂 sometimes it just feels stronger than I am. My therapist mentioned that Calista might also act as an appetite stimulant, too...

If you don't mind, I have one more question. Is shortness of breath a known side effect of Lexapro? I read somewhere that it might be possible, and I'm wondering if that's what's happening here. He starts struggling to breathe after walking just 200 meters at a brisk pace. Some people suggest it's just from smoking, but he's actually cut back significantly—he's only at about five or six cigarettes a day now, whereas he smoked much more before starting treatment. He used to train regularly and never had this issue. It’s hard to wrap my head around how the medication could affect him this way. Should he have adjusted to it by now, after two months?
He's quite young and is really trying to stay active, though he has gained weight since starting the medication and is finding it difficult to maintain his fitness.
Thanks again.
James Gray33 said:Alexiss, are you on any other medications? My brother had his dose lowered to 37.5 mg, but even combining it with Risperdal and Prozac, he’s still exhausted—just totally wiped out. He isn't sleeping quite as much as before, but he's still sleeping a ton. He only takes 1 mg of Lorazepam at night.
Thanks
