It might be a nice gesture if you actually shared that feedback with him...👍>

Did the media outlet Dr. Céline Dion works for actually approve this tiny expense for some poorly printed paper, or was it maybe just a loan from the publisher for photo ops and free promo? Honestly, give me a break... 👍
How do you manage living with asthma? in Health ·
Timothy Mitchell2 said:I’ve been dealing with allergic asthma since I was four years old.
That means it’s been part of my life for 38 years now! I actually spent about a decade going through allergy shots to desensitize my system, which seemed to get everything under control for a while...

But then, about seven years ago, I ended up staying in a house that wasn't kept up very well, and my asthma came roaring back. It mostly hits me right when I’m trying to settle in for the night because there’s something near my bed that really irritates my lungs. I eventually discovered that black cumin oil has been a total lifesaver for me. Has anyone else found something that works?

I just use my Foster inhaler twice a day and seem to be doing fine. Honestly, I’d suggest getting a full checkup—maybe head over to a major hospital in a small town, USA, for a spirometry test and some allergy testing. Once you have those results, they can hook you up with a treatment plan that actually fits your needs.

Rachel Sanders2 said:Think about when Muhammad entered Mecca. He acted just like Joseph did—he showed mercy and forgave his brothers. For those who hadn't embraced the teachings yet, he gave them a four-month grace period to make their decision.

But what happened once those four months were up? Was it either join the faith or face the consequences?
Come on, Rachel Sanders2, you’ve always been one of the most level-headed people on this forum, so don't start getting caught up in the fanaticism now...😁
How to block a specific domain on Google in IT Support ·

Like I mentioned before, if you look at Google in America, you won't find anything better than those foreign domains that have been run through Google Translate. Why specifically from Russia? It’s pretty obvious those sites have built-in scripts that can translate their content into basically any language on the fly. If you were to go out today, grab a domain, build a site, and drop a solid 1,000-word article focusing on something super niche like 'how to fix foggy car headlights,' you’d probably land that number one spot instantly. The catch is that almost nobody is searching for that specific phrase—it's a tiny niche. For the high-volume keywords that everyone is fighting over, you definitely aren't going to see these kinds of results just by using auto-translated text from overseas.

Fair enough, thanks for breaking that down for me. 👍

Since nobody in America is searching for that exact phrase, Google just serves up auto-translated pages from Russ because there isn't any better content available in English to fill the gap, according to what I'm seeing on Semrush.

I get the logic regarding how often people search for certain terms, but why specifically from Russ? Why aren't we seeing results from other languages instead?
It’s not like it’s just me and the folks over in Russ dealing with foggy headlights...😁

None of that applies here; everything is set to the US. I’m seeing the exact same results on my laptop while connected to this same network.
When I search Google for "how to defog car headlights," the first three results are:

This issue started cropping up about a month ago.
Whenever I run a search on Google, I’ll see maybe two or three results from an American domain, but everything else is just these machine-translated sites ending in .RU.
I’ve already tested this across three different browsers—Opera, Brave, and Edge

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there a way to just block the .RU domain entirely?

rapidskipper11 said:Anyone with an internet connection and even a modicum of search skills can essentially download just about any book they desire for free. It’s quite remarkable, really. Even if one doesn't own a dedicated e-reader, I suppose almost any smartphone these days is more than capable of handling those file formats without much trouble at all.

I find myself increasingly convinced that the continued existence of physical libraries has become somewhat obsolete. In an era where almost any piece of information can be summoned instantly via a smartphone, I suppose one has to wonder if maintaining these large, brick-and-mortar institutions still holds much practical value. Perhaps there is a sentimental argument to be made for them, but from a purely functional standpoint, the necessity seems to be fading.
It’s particularly advantageous because you can essentially maintain an infinite number of copies. I suppose that means you'll never run into a situation where a book is unavailable for loan simply because every single copy is checked out.🙂

Sometimes it really pays to take a second to think things through before you start dropping pearls of wisdom on Reddit.
It’s honestly pretty wild when you think about it, but just a massive chunk of all the books available online is written in English.
It’s just one of those things, isn't it? Not everyone is fluent in English, not everyone has a tablet or a smartphone handy, and let's be honest, not everyone is going to take the time to go out of their way and read what international authors are putting out there. There are just too many barriers in the way for everyone to be on the same page.
By the way, you really could have just donated your own books to any local library if you felt like it.
