quick question for all you moms with preschoolers out there... I was wondering how often you hear about kids being told to wait another year before starting kindergarten? And if you have, did you catch any of the reasoning behind it... I was just chatting with a friend who’s actually paying for private school prep classes for her little one (seriously?!!!???) and she’s absolutely freaking out about the idea of him sitting out a year...😲

Everything seemed to be running so smoothly last year, but ever since January 1st, it’s been nothing but glitches from the banks to the IRS!!! I have never experienced such ridiculous loading times; the pages just freeze up constantly, and then I get hit with these errors claiming I don't even have the right security certificate... I suppose they could have actually prepared themselves for the sheer number of taxpayers trying to use these systems at once. 🙂 🙂
yeah... great... maybe we should just move to Sweden instead... 🤣

Here's the situation: I have my checking and savings accounts set up over at JPMorgan Chase, but because of an outstanding debt with AT&T, they've gone ahead and frozen everything. Now, I’m expecting a payment to hit my main account—specifically the checking one—and it absolutely has to go there. Is there any way around this? Any chance I can protect the funds or shield the account so they don't just snatch the money the second it lands?
Just open a protected account. They can usually only grab about a third of your income anyway. You should probably look into the latest wage garnishment laws... might help. Anyway, why haven't you paid them yet?
I don't know... just thinking about how things move lately. Everything feels like it's shifting underfoot. Sometimes you think you've got a handle on the rhythm of things, then the tempo changes without warning. It’s all a bit much, honestly... just one thing after another. Not sure where it's heading. Maybe nowhere at all. says: Hey, quick question about my account over in Germany (it's with JPMorgan Chase)... how am I supposed to check my balance here in the States? I can't get anywhere with the local ATMs, and online banking isn't working for me either, even though I've got my debit card ready to go... Also, is there any way to just close this account from here, or am I stuck having to fly all the way back to Germany to deal with it... 🙂
Thanks!
You could just give your banker at JPMorgan Chase a call and pick their brain... I don't see why you couldn't just close out an account from here in the States. Our banks allow you to shut things down without having to show up in person anyway... so it should be fine.
I’ll just ask my assistant to dig it up tomorrow... I can't quite recall, but I know we had a decent number of them last year. Not totally sure about this specific one, though. We end up entering so many competitions that I can barely keep track of which ones are even taking bids anymore...
Raymond Martinez10 said:This is slightly off-topic, but if we are talking about bidding under the Zalando regulations, the document a client must request from the FBI is an FBI certificate regarding tax debt status. To prove financial capability (which isn't strictly required by the cited law, though a client can still ask for it), one can provide documents like BON-1 or BON-2—those are the ones issued by a commercial bank or FINRA. But as Damir points out—and we've reached this conclusion on this forum several times now—a lot depends on the individual agent and the FBI itself. In the last two years, I haven't submitted a single balance sheet or income statement to the FBI for any of my clients.
They can demand whatever they want, and you can complain about it later... honestly, there have been plenty of times where they've asked for balance sheets and P&L statements. Sure, there isn't a legal requirement to hand over originals when you're filing for a public bid anymore, but once you actually land the contract? Yeah, you're on the hook to provide them.
jadenomad24 said:I mean, where do you even live? Last year, nobody was sending their balance sheets or P&L statements to the local Police Department... they just take them over from the IRS, you hand over the end GFI-POD and that’s it... and if you actually bother to look at the IRS website, it doesn't even ask for it. Why send stuff they aren't asking for? It's no wonder you can't get a hold of anyone when you actually need them, people calling about total nonsense... sorry, I just had to say it, even if the mods come after me
Well, I don't call them... I call my contacts at the Police Department, and I have about two of them. But they don't take anything... honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even realize they could take it. Besides, I saw in the IRS instructions that the P&L and revenue statements can be sent through the portal... and when I called yesterday, the agent didn't tell me not to send them, and I need them for public bidding. What can I say. At these auctions, they demand the balance sheet and P&L verified by the Police Department, and now you're telling me I don't need to? You're probably right, but if I just submit what the IRS has, they could disqualify me. Is that illegal? Maybe, but I could drag them through a commission hearing and waste three or four months fighting it... and the job is waiting right now.
Raymond Martinez10 said:Actually, you don't—not if you already filed with the financial index.
I have to... they're looking for me. Honestly, I'd rather deal with the paperwork than have them show up at my door to audit me. Every single year, there’s some tiny correction needed on my Form 1040, but this year? This year is a nightmare because of a massive sales tax overpayment. They won't even release my tax transcripts until I hand everything over. It’s constant... they go through seven income streams, then 24, 14, and 0 every damn year... just digging through everything...
Henry Edwards33 said:My sales tax filing failed today, which reminded me of this trick—and it worked. Thanks 😳 I have no clue why they let them slide through without it before, and honestly, I don't care. As long as the IRS stays off my back, I'm happy. 🤣
man, you really hear some interesting stuff on here sometimes 😁
So I found out today that I can just send over the balance sheet and the GDP figures to the IRS... I actually called up the local branch to see if they'd even bother with these forms if the numbers weren't huge... turns out they will... apparently they haven't been told specifically not to accept them, but honestly, they don't really care about the scale... they just want those three-digit figures on the page... anyway...
I don't actually file any formal settlements with the US Chamber of Commerce or the FBI... I just run the numbers myself and settle up... same goes for the taxes, I just calculate everything and send it over... anyway, I finally got that VAT return submitted after support told me I had to put a dash in the notes field.
amberbadger17 said:So, they won't send me my sales tax info because apparently, I don't have some fancy digital certificate? They're refusing to let me sign anything. My accountant is being helpful with everything else, but when it comes to the tax stuff, he’s totally useless. I've tried calling the IRS and the state tax office, but it's just dead silence on their end. I am losing my mind here. What do I even do? I'm clearly not some tech wizard. Help. And thanks.
just email them... they told me to send everything in XML format once. looks like their software is just acting up again...
I’m running into issues sending over my sales tax filings too. I managed to get one company's paperwork through without a hitch, but now this other firm is giving me nothing but trouble. Everything looks fine on the actual form itself, but the system just won't let me submit... It's like that confirmation number is impossible to track down. I'll give it another shot later this morning.
