Love: A blessing, a curse, or both? in Psychology ·
Nicholas Lee41 said:Love as an emotion, in every sense of the word.

To me, it’s a double-edged sword, though one side usually carries more weight—and honestly, most of the time, it feels like a curse. It’s the root of weakness, fear, sadness, and suffering; I can't help but feel all of that is just a byproduct of love. But then again, would it actually be better if I swapped it out for its total opposite? You know, hate? Or maybe just complete apathy?
I suppose it wouldn't, though. Even as much as it indirectly throws us curveballs, it seems to be the one thing that actually gives some color to an otherwise gray existence. You're stuck with it, with or without it, so I guess there's not much to be done about it.

I'm curious to hear what you guys think about this emotion—it's something that was glorified and mystified way too much in the past, and now, in the present day, it's constantly being oversimplified by laypeople using pseudo-evolutionary explanations.

Love is a feeling, a force, and because of that, it can act as both a curse and a blessing depending entirely on how you choose to channel it...

If you pour all that love into hatred, then you're going to end up with nothing but hate.
If you funnel all that love into suffering, then you'll just find yourself in pain.
But if you direct all that love toward kindness, that's when it truly becomes love.

Love is basically the engine that drives the state of being we want to inhabit....

TRUE LOVE ISN'T JUST A FEELING; IT'S A STATE OF BEING.
Is death actually natural? in Psychology ·
I think

""it’s not dying that scares you, it’s everything you’re leaving in the rearview mirror...""

And honestly, it’s totally normal to feel that way—it’s just baked into being human, you know?

Death doesn't necessarily have to be the finish line; maybe it's just more like turning the page to a whole different chapter...
Red flags and manipulation in relationships in Psychology ·
Drew Perez9 said:Alright folks, I’m opening this thread to act as a sort of unofficial advice column here.🙂

First question on the table: how do you avoid those exhausting little dating games? You know the drill—you reach out, they ghost you, then suddenly they pop up out of nowhere, or if you don't reply instantly, they start blowing up your phone asking why you're ignoring them. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of manipulation? I brought it up to my girlfriends, and honestly, they don't see what the big deal is. They actually seem totally down for it, arguing that you have to "prove yourself" when you're the new one in the mix. They claim this whole hunter-versus-prey dynamic is actually desirable. Is that true? Or isn't genuine passion and attraction enough?

Oh, absolutely. This is such a sickness in modern society, because why would anyone make things simple when they can just make them unnecessarily complicated?🙄
Personally, I can smell that kind of manipulation from a mile away, and I usually just cut them off right at the start. Generally speaking, people who pull that "hard to get" act or try to gauge interest based on how fast someone replies are just being shady.👎

The simple truth is: if you want to talk, just talk. Whether it's right now, in a few hours, tomorrow, or even a month from now—or hey, if you don't want to talk at all, don't. It doesn't matter either way; life keeps spinning regardless.😁, but people just love to overcomplicate everything, overanalyze, jump to conclusions, and turn a simple relationship into some massive Hollywood drama...☕
Why is everyone staring at me? in Psychology ·
Jason Richardson68 said:The title pretty much sums it up. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve caught people—men and women alike—staring at me while I’m just walking down the street. It makes zero sense. I’m a totally normal size and weight, an average-looking person (I think, 😛), and there isn't anything physically unusual about my face or body.
Personally, I’m not the type to creep on people in public; if I glance at someone, it’s for a split second and then I move on. But honestly, I just don't get 🕺

Honestly, nowadays it feels more like people are just looking right through you rather than actually staring, and even if you think they are, trust me, it’s probably not about you... 🙄, and I really don't see why this is weighing on you so much.

You might be getting a little too caught up in yourself here, kind of like what someone else already pointed out—you seem way too focused on your own reflection. Why does it bother you so much where everyone else is looking? ☕
