Smith won't hang out with me in Psychology & Therapy ·
Just because you share blood doesn't mean you actually click. History is littered with siblings who can't stand one another, even after being raised under the exact same roof by the same parents.
What’s your actual motivation for forcing a friendship?
- Is it simply because you grew up without any siblings?
- Because you both happen to live in the same city?
- Or because you genuinely find them tolerable?
Why do some people just cave to peer pressure? in Psychology ·
I’m convinced social pressure only works on people who lack self-confidence—those desperate to cling to local customs just to feel like they belong.

I was talking to a guy recently who deals with some kind of physical disability. He told me he felt completely invisible to his peers until he started living on nothing but junk food and processed snacks. It spiraled; he ended up dropping out of college shortly after. Now, I’m left wondering: is society at fault here, or is it just his own failure? I honestly can't tell.

Personally, I’ve never felt the need to drink just because someone else is pouring a shot, nor have I ever picked up a cigarette just because the person next to me did. I don't look down on people with different lifestyles, either. Most people in my circle are deeply religious, whereas I’m an atheist. I’ve never felt pressured to change my ways because of it; if anything, that friction makes for much better conversation when we start debating current events over a drink.
