We started putting together this dresser at 8 PM. Now we’re down to just one drawer left and four freaking nails to hammer in, but he decided we’re calling it quits until tomorrow because he "has to go for a run." 🙂
Of course, he knows me too well. Before heading out, he cleaned up all the tools and lifted the dresser off the floor just so I wouldn't get any bright ideas about finishing it myself while he's gone (which I totally would have done—it's just four nails and sliding a drawer in, 🙄).
And now I'm pissed. I know how this works. That fifteen minutes of work is going to sit there for days. He won't want to do it tomorrow because it's Monday and he's tired, then Tuesday he's playing basketball with his buddies, then Wednesday it's some other nonsense. 😠
Look, maybe I look like a total idiot, but unlike the rest of you, I just couldn't keep my mouth shut when it comes to this person 😛 I just hope the same God who sent her that kid doesn't come after me too 🙄 Seems like there are a few more of us who have been driven absolutely insane by her 😉
I'm seriously losing my mind because I have to find a wedding dress in three weeks!
It’s the same old story. Anything that actually fits my stomach is massive in the chest area (my breasts are tiny and didn't even grow during pregnancy 😠), but anything that looks decent on my chest won't even budge over my stomach 😠
Honestly, I'm so pissed off right now that I don't even want to go to this wedding. Might as well just cut holes for my head and arms in a potato sack and call it a day 🙂
Hopefully, I'll find something before the big day 😢
This weather is driving me insane. I finally decided today was the day to run the first load of baby laundry, and now it’s just drizzling outside and nothing is going to dry... 😠
And honestly, I know once the Sun actually comes out tomorrow or the day after, I won't feel like sorting and washing anything anyway. I'll just want to be out hitting the shops and buying a mountain of other stuff I need...🙄
Jonathan Grant2 said:First off, I gotta say that my parents are honestly wonderful people. They’ve given me everything in life and they still support me whenever I need it. I know I can always turn to them for anything at all. BUT, why on earth do they feel the need to micromanage my entire existence??? I’m always down to hear their advice, but there’s a line, and they just keep crossing it...
So, my mom came to this "brilliant" conclusion that the smartest move would be for me to slowly get my dog used to her, so that over the next few months, they basically take full ownership while I just step in occasionally.😲😲😲 This is my dog—my absolute heart and soul—and they know how much she means to me. Even though I keep shutting the idea down and telling them it’s absolutely out of the question—because hey, I’m not the only person who’s ever been pregnant with a pet, and this is totally manageable—she just won't let it go... And then, the absolute kicker was something my dad said that actually left me in tears... He had the nerve to tell me that I’d end up loving my dog more than my own child one day.😢 Like, seriously, what is wrong with them? It’s like they think I’m some kind of idiot who can’t distinguish between the love for a kid and the love for a dog.
In the end, I just told them straight up that it's not happening. The dog stays with me. Once she finally learns not to pull on the leash (which she’s actually started working on!), my dad will take her for walks, and I’ll handle the trips where I can let her off-leash in open areas.🙂
Man, that sucks. 😲
I heard similar stories when I was first pregnant. 😠Luckily, he only has money coming from some distant relatives on his side and a few so-called "friends."👎
Thank God my parents and his are actually sane. They get it. They understand how much this dog means to us. She was there for me during my absolute lowest points—honestly, if it wasn't for her pulling me out of that deep depression, I don't even know where I'd be right now. 🙏. I had some semblance of a normal life for those first few months after we found out our chances of ever having a biological child were slim to none. I was still getting out at least three times a day and managing her daily care without losing my mind.
Don't get worked up. Just make it clear you aren't handing your dog over to anyone permanently, even if you appreciate their offer. You’ll still use their babysitting services whenever things get overwhelming—like when you're dealing with pregnancy complications, a sick baby, or traveling. During my first two months of pregnancy, I had to stay on strict bed rest, so Lola stayed with my parents. But the second my doctor gave me the green light to go for walks, I went and picked her up that same day. 😍
My mother-in-law is driving me absolutely insane. Maybe I’m just being an ungrateful idiot and she was just trying to help, but...
She called me up to say they already repainted our bedroom at their house (for when we visit on weekends), because I mentioned recently that I wanted to paint before the baby arrives. The thing is, I wanted to pick out and buy the colors myself 😠, but no, now it’s just plain white again. 😢 And then there's the crib. They went ahead and repainted GE's old crib for the baby. I told them we'd handle it before the baby gets here, but I wanted to get my hands dirty and choose the colors—I had some ideas for something colorful or patterned. Of course, they just painted it solid white too. 😠
Now I’m just pissed off. No one can satisfy me!
I know I’ll look like a total bitch if I say anything or try to repaint it differently. They’re "trying to make things easier" for me, but that’s not what I wanted. 🙂
I wouldn't touch that job with a ten-foot pole even if they handed me 20 $0.00 bucks a month!
Thanks, but I’d much rather work for $1667 and have maybe three kids I can actually provide for—within reason—than spend my entire life stuck at home pregnant and wiping dirty butts.👎
Hannah Lewis2 said:Adam Evans62, I totally get where you're coming from. It’s not even about being lazy—though people love to throw that around—it’s just that we always thought, "Hey, we'll get there when we get there." But then suddenly, everything just feels exhausting. And let's be real, you can't just zip into Target, grab a cart, and call it a day. You need to browse, compare brands, maybe order something online if you can't find it in stock... So, honestly? I don't think it's too early at all. We ended up buying ours around week 33—I think, anyway, my memory isn't perfect—and by then, I was ready to burst into tears just thinking about having to drive anywhere. 🙄
🙂 Don't let anyone get in your head and don't back down! Times have changed... My family gave me the same old speech, asking why I even needed a stroller and suggesting my godparents could just pick one out for the baby shower... Whatever. We bought absolutely everything ourselves. Luckily, my husband and I are on the exact same page, so I didn't have to fight him on it. I just didn't want to be stuck in a position where I'm waiting around for someone else to bring me what I actually need.
Thanks for the support, hun!
Look, I've already picked everything out. I know exactly which stroller and car seat I want—already looked at them and tested them out. Now I just need to get my butt moving and head over to SLO to grab them. 😠 I know money is tight right now, but whatever, you gotta buy what you need. If we did things his way, we'd be borrowing everything, and I'm not doing that. This is our first baby, so I want brand new. If he won't go with me when I'm six months along, I'll just go with my parents and let him stay home and sulk like an :asshole It'll work itself out... he'll come around in a few days. He always ends up seeing things my way eventually, but right now my hormones are all over the place and I feel like a mess...
Just had a massive blowout with Adam Evans62 about this right before he went to bed. He refuses to admit his dear mother started all of this. He keeps acting like it’s his own brilliant insight 🙄—as if he has any actual opinion on pregnancy or baby gear beyond what he’s heard from me and his mom 😠 And half the stuff I listed as essentials? He thinks we don't need them yet 😲. Claims we can just grab them after the baby arrives or wait for some random gift 😠 Yeah, sure. I'll just call his grandma and ask her to buy me nursing bras, or maybe reach out to some cousin in rural Nebraska to see if they have a summer cover for the car seat and nursing pillows 😂 It ended up looking ridiculous, but honestly, it’s just pathetic... 😢 (I’m probably better off not giving him the full shopping list, just telling him the total dollar amount and calling it a day)
I've been working my tail off, scouring every store and website possible to find deals and save money. I figured it's smarter to pick up a few things every month (May, June, July) instead of dropping $1,000 all at once, but apparently, my effort doesn't count for anything... I feel totally unappreciated... 😢 😢
I'm at 29 weeks now, and I'm telling him that by late May or early June—when I'll be around 34 or 35 weeks—that's the absolute deadline to get the car seat and the stroller 🙄
And he just goes, "Relax, we've got plenty of time!!!"
No kidding? I am not trying to buy a car seat or a stroller two days before I go into labor, or even worse, having someone else scramble to buy them while I'm stuck in the hospital 😠
And I know my mother-in-law is behind this too. She’s constantly harping on about how you shouldn't buy anything for the baby before they're actually born because it's bad luck 🙄
I'm seriously losing it. I told him straight up we aren't buying anything this month, and probably not next month either since we have to pay our car insurance premium first, so we're waiting until June. Apparently, that's "too early" for him 😲
Went to the local clinic this morning to get blood drawn.😠
Showed up around 7:30—they take walk-ins until 8:30—and there were easily 200 people already there.😲
Pregnant women get priority, thank god, but I still sat there waiting for nearly an hour. Nobody’s going to complain about a pregnant lady cutting in line, but the waiting room was a nightmare. It’s packed with sick people coughing and hacking everywhere without even bothering to cover their mouths. Just gross.🙂 And if you step outside for air, you can't even hear that stupid intercom calling names.
Last time I just went to a private LabCorp instead, but honestly, I don't have the extra $67 to spend right now.😢
I’m absolutely livid. I was counting on that insurance reimbursement hitting my account today, so I went ahead and made a massive shopping list for Target and Walmart—just a ton of baby stuff and household essentials so I wouldn't be scrambling at the end of the month. But nope, my husband didn't leave me the car keys either 😠 and there is zero money in the account today!!!!
I might as well just end it all 🙂 I don't even know why this hit me so hard, but seeing that there's still nothing in my bank account after checking online actually had me sobbing 🙂
I hate my own damn self. Spent the whole day obsessing over strollers again 😠, even though I was 100% sure I’d already made up my mind!
Serves me right. If I hadn't been too indecisive to just buy them two weeks ago when I actually had the cash, I wouldn't be stuck in this endless loop.
Dammit, honestly, going through 8 rounds of IVF felt easier than picking out a stroller. 🙂🙂
I'm pissed at myself for being too lazy to call BC in that small town in the Midwest before we left, so half the stuff on my list wasn't even there. 😠 😠
However Co., I made up for it by buying a bunch of random crap I didn't even need. 😵
Now I have to head back out in a month to grab the stroller, the AS, and all those other things that were missing today. 🙂
I'll actually be smart this time and call ahead to order everything I need.
analognomad59 said:Kids' clothes prices 👎 are just wild. Everything cheap feels like low-grade junk made overseas, while anything actually decent costs an absolute fortune 👎
And honestly, everywhere I look, they used to have exactly what I was hunting for, but then it all vanished a few weeks back. Now, suddenly, they’ve stocked up on "summer" gear... I mean, really? Summer clothes in March? For a newborn? 🤷
Sign me up.😠
I just handle it by buying everything on eBay. I get high-quality stuff (M&S, Gap, Gap, Gap, George...) for like 3 or 4 times less than what they charge here. 👍
Had to "bury" this poor pigeon today. Some sicko shot it with a pellet gun and it landed right in my backyard. 😠
I felt terrible for it. I'm not even a bird person, but I guess it's just hormones... there it was, just lying in my yard, getting soaked by the rain, covered in blood... honestly heartbreaking. 😢 😢 I thought about waiting for my husband to get home from work to handle it, but I had to let the dog out. I didn't want him sniffing it or trying to eat it while I walked past, 🙄 so I had to move it myself. It was already dead, unfortunately (or luckily, I guess).
And all this time I'm sitting here crying like I lost a family pet instead of... some random pigeon. If that psycho with the pellet gun ever crossed my path, they'd be in serious trouble. I hate even thinking that someone that twisted and brainless lives in my neighborhood! 🙂
man My sister got pregnant at 22. She was with this guy for all of five minutes. No college degree, no job, nothing. Just stuck. Naturally, my folks—and yeah, I’m part of this mess 😛—were totally blindsided and disappointed. We threw together a quick wedding just to save face. My dad lost it. He kept going on about what the neighbors would think, how she was shaming the whole family, and how we poured everything into her education just for her to throw it back in our faces.😢 She just took it. Sat there and swallowed all that crap. Once the wedding was over, things settled down a bit, but my dad wouldn't stop nagging. Then, the hammer dropped. It turns out the baby had severe genetic issues—Potter syndrome—and she had to undergo an induction at 22 weeks.🙂 It was a nightmare. That was the moment we realized how much we actually cared about this kid before they were even born. My dad broke down completely. He was sobbing like a child when he heard the news and showed up at the hospital to be with her. Fast forward to now. Thank God, she has two beautiful kids (2 years old and 6 months). She never finished school, and neither does her partner—they don't have jobs. We don't exactly approve of the lifestyle, but we've learned to shut up and just enjoy the grandkids because they're the only thing that matters now.🙏 My dad absolutely adores them. Especially since it looked like I was never going to have my own kids. It finally hit him: a degree and a paycheck don't mean squat if you're all alone.
Honestly, you young pregnant women are driving me up the wall. 😁
Am I really the only older mom-to-be in this group? From what I can see, everyone else here is just a bunch of kids. 😢
I was just joking with Michael Barrett11 yesterday about how we're going to be the oldest parents at the PTA meetings—he actually turned pale when he realized he'll be 40 by the time his kid starts kindergarten. 😲
All because of that... stupid owner and his dog yesterday.
The baby is fine, but I took a hard fall and slammed my elbow. It's swollen and killing me. Michael Barrett11 basically forced me to go see a doctor. They checked out my elbow, but they said there's a 99% chance nothing is broken—just a nasty bruise from when I landed on it. No X-rays, obviously. Once they realized I'm pregnant, they sent me for an ultrasound too. Baby is doing great.
I have to keep my elbow elevated whenever possible, and if I'm heading out, I'll wrap it in a scarf. And obviously, I can't take anything for the pain... 👎
It should clear up in two or three days.
Man, if I ever run into that idiot again... I'd give him a piece of my mind. 🙂 I don't blame the dog. It's not his fault he isn't trained. Luckily, he wasn't aggressive, so I got lucky. He was a big Boxer; I usually think those dogs are adorable, but I wouldn't want to deal with that one again. 😛
