Alex Campbell6 said:I’m dying to know if anyone saw anything in the papers you guys read about Johnny or The Ramones after he passed... I pick up The New York Times and honestly, I was so proud they actually featured them on the front page! I did a quick skim through The Washington Post and The New York Post too, but didn't really spot anything...🙂

Washington Post A. Dragas wrote a piece, there was stuff in The New York Post, and today even Dave Marsh has something in The Daily News.

Come on, elaborate a little here.

By recognition, I mean things like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, or how Spin Magazine calls them the second most influential band in rock history (right behind The Beatles), not to mention all the tribute acts...
So, we're talking about validation from the "American mainstream," which basically ignored them for years.

As for nobody screwing them over—I'm talking about the total lack of airplay on US radio stations and TV. Because look, even though the Ramones are absolute legends of the American underground, the truth is that once they realized they could actually play and string a few songs together, they saw themselves as future rock superstars—kind of like the Rolling Stones or The Who. They even joked that their competition was the Bay City Rollers! The real issue was just that America wasn't feeling that sound, even though the Ramones (and yeah, us fans) thought it was the ultimate rock—or maybe pop—sound for the end of the century.

For twenty-two years nobody gave them the time of day, but now that they’ve finally scored an award (and actually moved some records), they’re nowhere to be found.
It’s such a shame 😢

Spot on.
If you look at how the poll started and how the numbers shifted, it's pretty obvious that Obelix voted for Ronald Reagan.
And since he's clearly not getting the outcome he wanted, he's totally losing his mind about it.
Way to go, really.

Don't go making assumptions about me—and let's get one thing straight, we aren't buddies.
What assumptions?
And who said I was even talking to you?
Chill out.

The Most Legendary and Cult Band Ever in Music ·
The Ramones are hands down the most legendary and cult-classic band out there.
And after them? It’s basically everyone else—led by The Velvet Underground, The Doors, and The Rolling Stones, obviously...
