Insomnia is driving me crazy. Then I just end up feeling like a zombie all day long.
And honestly? From the second I wake up until my head hits the pillow, all I can think about is ice cream.
I’m basically bulldozing everything in my path with this gut of mine—still can't get used to it being 😠
. And honestly? I keep thinking I'll never see ankles like they used to be... those slim, elegant 🙄
.
My dear, beloved jerk finally pushed me over the edge!
I was heading to campus by bus (after my coworker drove me all week), and he goes—"Why can't she drive you today? Ask your mom. I'd drive you myself if I wasn't working..." 🙂
Then there’s my trip to Venice to pick up wedding dress materials—same old story. "Don't drive, it's too much effort, your back will hurt..." As if the only time my back doesn't ache is when I'm sitting in his car because his seats are actually decent 😁
Need to head up to Plodine and it's the same thing again—"Have someone else drop you off." 🙂 🙂 🙂
And then he adds—yeah, I know you aren't sick, you're just pregnant, but I don't want you driving. But sure, go ahead and clean the house! 🙄
And we are only 27 weeks along 🙄

Oh, and my boss is just lovely... I have one week left before maternity leave starts, and she—who has known I've been pregnant since week 8—is already starting with the "I'll call you if something comes up while you're home" routine (because apparently, training the heir hasn't started early enough). Let her call. I can always ignore my phone. 🙄 😁
So, a coworker at the office today. She actually asks me how much weight I’ve put on. I told her 5 pounds (I'm 25 weeks along today). Her response? "Oh, that's nothing! The baby won't grow like that. Are you eating enough? You need to drink more milk!" 🙂 🙂
I just told her straight up that I eat plenty, and honestly, if I lost another 20 pounds, the baby would still have more than enough to work with from my previous weight. Then came the unsolicited advice—"Well, I used to be overweight too (read: she's shaped like a beach ball, carrying all my weight in a much shorter frame), and I gained 35 pounds during my pregnancy." Then she starts listing off her complications: gestational diabetes, terrible back pain, high blood pressure, and spending her last month stuck in a hospital bed.
No thanks, I'll pass. I've had more than enough drama dealing with my thyroid and my weight. 😠
Lately, I feel like my baby has completely fried my brain. I’m barely functioning. I forget things constantly, so I started writing everything down just to stay sane. Then, I actually forget that I wrote 🤣
It’s definitely not helping me get through my classes at 😁
For the last ten days, people at the office have been asking me every single day when I’m finally going on maternity leave. 😠 Why do they even care? I get my work done and I don't bother anyone. Plus, I'm not sick—I'm pregnant with Trump!
Yesterday, I told a coworker that I’m planning on giving birth right here at the office, and she’ll be delivered by the woman who's heading straight to heaven because she's such an absolute, ultimate, world-class mother. 🙄
Honestly, the most annoying part so far is how people react when I tell them I’m pregnant. Whether it's at work or in class, the first thing everyone asks is, "Why are you still working?" or "Why haven't you gone on maternity leave yet?" Like, do they think I don't know these first few weeks are the most critical? They act like I shouldn't even be near a computer or my phone... 🙂
Then there was this moment yesterday at college... my professor goes, "But how on earth are you going to finish your thesis now that you're pregnant?" I mean, hopefully using a laptop! But hey, if I have to carve it into stone, so be it. 🙄
How to stop biting your nails? in Health ·
I can finally say this with total pride: three months ago, I officially quit biting my nails! It’s been about 29 years—okay, maybe I cheated once or twice over the decades 😁—but now all that money goes toward nail polish and manicures instead 😁
How did it happen? Honestly, I don't know. One day, I had this massive blowout with my partner (we went back and forth, he had some valid points, but hey, I had to get my word in too!) and ever since that fight, I just haven't bitten them 🤷 I've tried everything else before, including acrylics, but I ended up biting those right off, too 🙄
$5 billion budget boost for pensions in Economy ·
I’m all for penalizing early retirement when it isn't actually required by the job. Let’s be real—there are plenty of roles that a 60-year-old just can't handle physically, but that's not the issue here. I know a woman who works at Duke Energy; she’s 56 and already eyeing retirement simply because she doesn't feel like putting in the effort anymore. It's not that she *can't* do the work, she just won't. Honestly, I think those people should face much tougher consequences than they currently do.
What worries me—and I realize this is coming from my own perspective—is what comes next. The new reforms aim to incentivize people to stay on the job past 65. Fortunately (or unfortunately), I work in academia. I started with an Associate's, moved up to a Bachelor's, and I'll have my Master's next year—all while working myself to the bone to study. Realistically, I have zero chance of moving up the ladder. My pay is still stuck at an entry-level rate despite me performing high-level work for the last three years. Why? Because there are three women nearing retirement age—63 and 64—who are occupying the exact positions we need to move into, and they've already made it clear they aren't going anywhere. And why would they? They're pulling in about $2333 in salary, doing absolutely nothing, and taking sick days or vacation whenever they feel like it. Meanwhile, there's constant, justified criticism about how useless the public sector is and how much of a burden it places on the private sector. If this reform goes through, things are only going to get worse. Younger professionals won't be able to break into the field, let alone advance or actually change things for the better in the future. Because these old ladies simply refuse to retire 😠
