Gold: Past, Present, and Future in Other Investment Types ·

An average of 5-10%.

Well, preserving wealth is, in itself, a return.

Assuming we're all still around to see it, we'll find out how the gold market plays out in the coming years—best of luck to you all 🙂

And honestly, 5-10% is still way better than whatever crumbs the banks are handing out right now!
Bolded-absolutely spot on!

If we drop below that level, things could get ugly fast—we’d be looking at a major correction if we break through that 1523 support. Even if that worst-case scenario plays out, I doubt it happens right now; it'll likely hit a few weeks after a rebound. For that to actually happen, we'd need some absolute disaster unfolding in Europe that Ben wouldn't be able to offset immediately.

Like, say... the JPMorgan Chase system being right on the edge of a total meltdown?

I'm out. Not holding anymore. 😍

Just dipped below 1.3

The US Mint moved more Gold Eagles in just seven days this May than they did during the entire month of April!
China pulled in 135 tons of gold from Hong Kong in just the first three months of this year...

Ideally, we’d see it hold below the $1,613 level from April 4th, but with the Dollar acting like a beast and the Federal Reserve breathing down our necks, that’s a tall order. This bottom could flash anytime between now and Monday—likely Thursday or Friday. If it breaks below that support, the whole bull market run is probably toast.

You sure about that? The Dollar is only going to get stronger. There's massive uncertainty over in Europe right now, putting all this pressure on the Euro. And don't even get me started on Greece—that's a whole different disaster waiting to happen. New elections there seem almost inevitable... I mean, their 10-year yields just spiked to 23%.😍

Apple is overpriced too.

Because even the most clueless amateur knows gold is where the money is made these days. For prices to keep climbing, you need fresh buyers—and those people are running thin...

Gold will likely be higher ten years from now, sure, but the actual returns will probably be underwhelming. Forget about seeing gains of several dozen or even hundreds of percent at these levels.

I’m not so sure about that, honestly. How many people do you actually know who think gold is the move, or who have actually put their cash into it? I mean, personally, I don't know a single soul (not even my own family or friends) who's doing it.

And what exactly are we talking about when you say "low returns"? Give me a real number here.

brightviper48 said:Gold would have been a solid play at $1,000. At current levels, though—it’s just too expensive.

I'm with you there. Honestly, this feels like the perfect window to scoop up some Apple stock. 😍

I know I'll probably end up kicking myself later, but what's the logic behind calling it overpriced right now? Are you betting that the Euro might hit some major turbulence—thinking that if things go south there, the Dollar climbs and drags gold down with it?

"Back when you went to an investment conference in 1989, everyone was piling into Japanese stocks. Fast forward to 2000, and suddenly it's everyone betting the farm on tech. That’s the textbook definition of a bubble—when basically every single person in the market is holding the exact same asset. Personally, I reckon there are more folks holding Apple stock these days than there are people holding actual gold.”

rapidsurfer90 said:I get that—really, I do—but I'm asking about this ratio for a different reason.
So, if parity shifts closer toward 1:1, does that mean the price of gold in euros climbs to meet the dollar, does the dollar price drop, or do they just meet somewhere in the middle?
Might be a silly question—don't judge me—but I'm curious.

In principle, yeah. But honestly? Both currencies are losing ground against gold. You've got the Federal Reserve printing money and the Federal Reserve printing money. That’s eventually going to hit precious metals hard. Just hang in there—QE is right around the corner.

rapidsurfer90 said:When the Dollar gets stronger, gold and silver prices—measured in Dollars—tend to drop immediately.

Some folks actually think we might see parity between the Dollar and the Euro—a 1:1 ratio—down the road.

So, what does that mean for the price of gold and silver when you're looking at it through a Dollar lens?
Will the "Dollar" price of gold crawl up toward the Euro's level, or will the Dollar price slide down to meet it?

I assume you all follow my logic here.

Look, parity is definitely on the table. But honestly? Whether the price of gold is listed in Dollars, Euros, or even Pesos doesn't mean a damn thing. What actually matters is its intrinsic value and what it can actually buy you!

NEWS FLASH:

"The US saw a massive surplus with the Republic of Austria during the first quarter of 2012. We exported about 44 million Dollars worth of non-monetary gold. Per the Leader.

😍

And then you’ve got these other guys claiming gold is a "done deal" when it comes to a bull market

Yeah. My bad—I should’ve converted that to metric tons instead of ounces. It actually works out to about 50 tons or so. Honestly, that’s just pocket change for someone like Roach to pick up.
BTW, it's pretty wild how all the data comes out showing gold buys from China, Russia, and Mexico... yet there isn't a single word about any European central bank buying up the stuff.

So, we’d need about 1,618 in gold to cover all the cash floating around out there? Did I get my math right on that one?
Gold: Past, Present, and Future in Other Investment Types ·
Does anyone actually have a clue how much gold the US would need to back up the dollar? Like, what’s even the total amount of USD currently floating around out there?

Russia and Mexico aren't slowing down on the buying spree. God only knows how much stuff China is hoarding away...

It’s honestly such a shame that the entire world gets served nothing but absolute morons when it comes to politicians. This guy is actually pleasant to listen to, though—he actually understands economics, unlike the rest of those political clowns/idiots.
