What does shorting on the NYSE have to do with your shallow little jabs at me? If you didn't catch it: I don't trade paper assets like some of the people on this board. If you did catch it and were trying to be funny: it was a pretty pathetic attempt at trolling.
Once again, you aren't actually backing up your claim that ZH is just a hub for conspiracy theories. So, why don't you point out specific articles on ZH that qualify as conspiracies? If you can actually make an argument, that is. Sure, they’ve missed the mark on their timing and forecasts more times than I can count, but that doesn't change the facts. It's a bit different from your approach, where you shut down any real debate before it even starts and then try to troll by bringing up some random website that has nothing to do with the topic at hand.
As far as I'm concerned, this is one of the few sites left where you actually get the real story on what's happening in this economic dumpster fire. All those "conspiracy theories" eventually turn out to be nothing more than plain facts, at which point everyone just stops talking about them and treats them like common knowledge. Keep it up 🙂
You’ve got a point, but I’ll add my own take on gold and silver: I have no intention of swapping them for fiat currency. Instead, I’m using them to acquire assets that actually build value over time 😉
The spot price is just for the elite few, not for us regular folks; once it leaves the refinery, you can kiss that spot price goodbye.🙂 Silver is hit with Sales Tax in almost all of Europe, so forget about matching the spot price there. Besides, everyone in that supply chain needs to make a profit.😉 True. You always end up paying the plumbers and contractors regardless of the market rate... in my field (IT), people always go with "Oh, this should be easy for you, just fix it." And when I tell them my rate is $117 per hour, they claim "the neighbor's kid can do it for cheap." Fine, let the kid fix it, then you'll come crawling back to me and I'll charge you $167 an hour 😁 .
It’s nice to see there are still people left in this country who actually care about real values. Knowledge is one of those things nobody can take away from you—unless they manage to brainwash you first—but I suppose having some decent material possessions doesn't hurt either... provided you take care of them, of course. 🙂
People have been trying to find a substitute for gold for thousands of years, and they’re still failing. Silver hasn't lost its edge; if anything, it's gained value. As for nickel silver, that's just cheap nickel plated with silver used for making walking canes and nothing more. When you look at those hundreds of industrial and medical applications, there simply isn't a replacement for silver right now.
Ashley Martin2 said:What happens if these modern-day "alchemists" actually pull off making industrial gold? Is there any sign we’re getting close to a breakthrough? I mean, we already see lab-grown diamonds and pearls being mass-produced everywhere.
They won't. 🙂 There isn't a single hint that anyone can actually "transmute" gold from some other element.
"In the US, where sectors like manufacturing, mining, and construction drive roughly half of the entire nation's output..."
"American companies entering the ranking included an online travel agent and a social network operator: Priceline.com Inc. (PCLN) and Facebook Inc. (FB) Services make up 80 percent of the U.S. economy, Department of Commerce data show."

It just means you need to step back and actually think about things for a second.🙂

The Germans had their noses broken twice back in '43 (Stalingrad and Kursk), but it wasn't until the spring of '45 that Berlin actually fell. The Dollar is following the same pattern. More and more countries are ditching the Dollar for their trade deals (China and Germany, China and Russia, China and Brazil, China and Australia, China and Japan, China and Chile, China and UAE, India and Japan, Iran and Russia...). Notice how many times I wrote "China"? 🙂 Do you really think reserve currency status vanishes overnight? I guess today is an educational day... here, have some reading material to chew on.🙂 :
