MM and I originally agreed we’d just be the three of us at home—just us—but he totally flipped the script yesterday. He actually cornered me, asking why I always have to make things complicated, why I can't just accept help like everyone else, and why I feel the need to play this "superwoman" role all the time...

Me

And I’m like, look, I want to see how it actually goes. Maybe my contractions won't leave me completely bedridden, maybe I won't need constant help with the little one, and honestly? I just don't want someone hovering over me constantly giving unsolicited advice just because they’ve already had kids...

Then he goes: "But who's going to cook? Who's going to clean?" So I told him straight up—he lives in the house too and isn't disabled, so he can handle his share. His response? "Yeah, but what if you're too exhausted from being woken up every couple of hours by the baby??"

Yesterday was a total breaking point for me, and it happened right on my birthday. If I could have fired him on the spot without a second thought, I would have...

Then there's my mother-in-law insisting she'll be staying with us. I told her it wasn't necessary, but that she could drop by so I wouldn't worry. Then my own mom tells me she's coming over immediately after I get out of the hospital, whether anyone calls her or not...

Honestly, I'm just feeling pretty miserable because nobody is actually asking what *I* want or how *I* feel. Everyone—my mom, my MIL, and MM—is basically trying to map out my entire future for me. It just drives my blood pressure through the roof. I guess I'm just the black sheep in a family that loves to lecture and expects me to follow the exact same traditional paths all the women before me took...
Just got back from the Department of Labor... It wasn't even that I was pissed, more just stunned by how unprofessional those people were...

I went in for my regular monthly check-in and the person at the desk immediately goes, "Oh, you're pregnant," then shouts across the entire hallway, "We've got a pregnant lady over here!"????? I'm just standing there like, are you serious... So I ask why they're sending me away instead of letting me check in, and she says they need to verify things. She calls someone over and says, "I have this lady here "with a belly full of teeth", what am I supposed to do with "the three of them"?"😲

Like, what three people? What are you even talking about?😂

They send me to another room—where it's already getting a bit crazy because I'm in a rush and don't feel like playing musical chairs just because they think I'm special... The woman tells me they didn't know I was pregnant since it wasn't noted anywhere. I told her, why would you need to know if I'm showing up every month and doing everything required? It's not like I'm asking you guys about your dental history...

She insists they have to know. I asked if this changes anything regarding my status at the Department of Labor, and she said no. So I asked, what's the actual issue? She says there's no issue, but they still have to know. I basically told her that since asking a woman if she's pregnant or planning on having kids during an interview is straight-up discriminatory, I'm under no obligation to disclose my pregnancy. The only way they could tell is if they actually looked at me, given how much I've filled out lately.

In the end, they just gave me an excuse so I don't have to come in next month, and they marked me down for the following month too—so that's the grand wisdom of them finding out about my pregnancy at the Department of Labor... 😱 😱 Oh, and then the woman calls someone else again and says, "I have a pregnant woman here who considers herself capable of working and wants to keep looking for a job," and the other person acts all surprised by my statement. 😂 😂 😂

If your husband wasn't some high-profile heir to a massive fortune 😬maybe it wouldn't be such a huge deal.

😂😂😂😂😂😂

I actually heard this from a pregnant friend—well, her wife's friend—who was totally clueless about what she'd even do if it was a boy. Like, what's the big deal? 😱

Honestly, the only thing that still gets under my skin is my father-in-law. 😠 He cornered me with this whole lecture about how I didn't check in after getting back from the beach. I just told him straight up—since he ignores my texts (which he thinks is rude, apparently, because he expects calls instead of an SMS 😵)—that I wasn't reaching out, plus I don't have the budget for endless phone calls. Besides, he hasn't even called to see if I'm doing okay or need anything.

There's more, but it's probably better if I just keep it to myself. 🙂
Douglas Booth22 said:My grandmother pulled the same stunt a few times, claiming she had vomited before a baby was actually revived. I explained to her that the heart starts beating around six weeks, but she just kept insisting on her version. Eventually, I realized there's no point in arguing with her about it.

That’s probably just one of those old-school labels... I actually heard a neighbor say something similar once. 🤷 But honestly, the real question is: did the baby actually survive?😠😠

And what's even crazier is that there's nothing to even see yet, and most women don't even mention anything during this phase. But whatever, news travels fast in small towns. And anyone who sees me out on the street based on our conversations just stares at my gut.
They're probably just checking to see if anything is popping out yet.
😠

Also, my dad is getting on my nerves... I mean, obviously he's not going to want a grandkid while I'm still driving a beat-up old Ford Fiesta 😕

But hey, at least they aren't asking when we're having a baby, just when the kid is finally going to start moving.😁

I've heard this twice now and I'm over it😲😲 So I nicely explained that my baby has been active from the start...

And my father-in-law keeps bugging me because he keeps repeating how some woman (who had her kid like 10-12 years ago, not sure) told him he should tell me not to go to the FBI ultrasounds so often 😵 And I've had to listen to that same line a few times now...

Look, I have zero intention of explaining the safety or risks of ultrasounds to anyone—just let me live in peace...

Oh, and the constant comments about how I'm "definitely" having a boy—that's been happening since day one. WTF? You guys act like you know, but even the doctors at the ultrasound can't tell 😂Once the baby is born, you'll all hear it—it'll be obvious. That's my baby!

I think my hormones finally decided to kick in over the last couple of days for the first time in this pregnancy 😂

Michelle Price66 said:Man, I just went down a Google rabbit hole about my late period—found everything from hyperthyroidism to Turner syndrome... 😱

Seriously lady, just show up already, I’m losing my mind here! 🙂

Did she show up? I'm dealing with the exact same thing—my cycle is exactly 15 days late today. It's the first time it's happened and I'm definitely not pregnant.

Usually, I can track this stuff like clockwork.😲

Now I’m starting to feel like total Jeremiah....

Word is Vinny got bought out—he's basically just keeping the name at this point... Might be smart to grab a slice before you commit to an order. 😎

😘 Did you order yours from them?😍

yesssss,

Ronald Hill3 thanks a million!!😘 You were the one who told me about that bakery in downtown Chicago, right?

Just hopped off the phone with them—they said they can do that cake I described for 200 people $267😲

It’s basically half what I thought I'd be paying👋 👋 👋 👋 👋

Zachary Gray35 said:Honestly, I think it just depends on what kind of cake you're getting, or maybe it’s cheaper if you go with something more basic... In my case, I paid about $1,200 to feed 120 people.

That’s why I figured it was priced $3.25per head...

Anyway, I'll just ask once I get there today. Thanks again, ladies—you guys are the best....😘

Found this in some old threads: $3.25 per person😘

Thanks, Magna—might actually figure this out eventually🙂>

I haven't had the chance to sample their other offerings just yet, but based on what I have observed 😲 they do a great job !!! And truly, the proprietor is exceptionally kind, remarkably easygoing, and she takes the time to walk you through all the details so there is no confusion whatsoever...

We really loved that look—kind of thinking fruit and parfait vibes instead.🙂 Since it’s July, we want to keep the cake a little "lighter," you know?😍

Now I just need to find someone to actually make it... heading out after work today to talk shop with some local bakeries. I've shortlisted a few: Meli, M&M, Horak, and Grabar.

Doro, hit me with those quick recs if you have them.🙂

Hey ladies....

Thinking about ordering a cake from Magnolia Bakery tomorrow... anyone here actually used them for wedding cakes before?

Ronald Hill3 said:Hold on, hold on, northernstag5, you always seem to step away right when things get interesting. 😍 Come on, please, give us some more details—who specifically, where are they located, how much does it cost, and how do we find them? Since I'm based near Appalachia, I might actually head out and do some digging myself. 👍

I wasn't really planning on getting the cake from them anyway—we have this amazing local bakery nearby (let's hope Boone doesn't mess this up for my big day 😬)

If I remember right, you're from Naperville—basically neighbors 🙂 Could you please DM me the info on that bakery?😘 😘
