Postpartum sciatica: Anyone else dealing with this? in Women's Health ·
Laura Jackson56, that's just what happens when you're lugging around 27 pounds and 32 inches of extra weight everywhere you go 😬
(just saw the measurements)

Pregnancy sciatica is basically just the baby physically crushing a nerve—it usually clears up once they're out of there...
Then you just have to wait for the nerve to recover and forget it was being squashed for months on end 🙂

Try to figure out if certain things make it worse—like walking too much, hitting the stairs, or doing anything specific..
Sciatica absolutely wrecked me during my pregnancy—pain shooting from my groin all the way down to mid-thigh. I honestly thought it would just vanish after giving birth (this is my first one), but this time? It just slightly lessened. If I walk too much, stay active, or carry stuff—it comes back to haunt me at night and keeps me up
Keeping a slow pace helps, but I can never seem to stick to it for more than a day or so

I haven't touched any real meds. Honestly, I've only taken Tylenol maybe two or three times when the pain was so bad I was literally in tears
I’m done answering my phone.
Everyone's just sucking me dry at this point.
You in labor yet?
When is it happening?
What's the hold-up?
Starting to feel the pains?
Let me know the second things start moving.
You up for tonight?
Already done?
You’re gonna snap eventually.
Is it getting tough?
Still holding it together?
And what, you think you’re delivering today?
Come on, we can't wait forever.

Everyone head out at 3 PM sharp. 😠

I'm officially ghosting everyone.
And what were they even digging up—the ones that gave birth in the dead of winter?
They were probably just splitting firewood...
Or maybe they were out there clearing ice and snow off the roads instead of using plows, just so the horses wouldn't struggle as much.😁

Low blood pressure could easily be the culprit here.
Try to stay on top of your hydration—it helps with the pressure and the breastfeeding too. 🙂
And maybe try to actually get some rest once in a while...

Wait, so you've only had maybe two or three dizzy spells so far? (Seven months in, and just one every couple of months?)
Was it actually bad enough to make you collapse, or was it just that "whoosh" feeling that passes quickly?

Honestly, I get dizzy way more often than that and I don't lose my mind over it. You mentioned being exhausted—waking up constantly for nursing and all that... it’s not surprising if things spin a bit sometimes. Your blood pressure or blood sugar might just be dipping. Are you eating regularly?

With this heatwave we're having, feeling lightheaded isn't exactly shocking—especially if you're jumping up from a lying position or squatting and then standing too fast..

If this were happening to you every single day or week, sure, maybe... but like this?
I don't buy the whole "back-breaking labor" myth for a second. They’d just duck out to the vineyard and nap under a peach tree to avoid doing the laundry by hand at home.

Either our pain tolerance has somehow plummeted—like, how is it that we struggle through pregnancy just to dig a simple well—or back then, women were literally giving birth in the middle of the field while switching out an exhausted ox or hauling a plow.
You can think what you want.
Sure, some of them probably worked their tails off, but I bet they also covered for each other, whispering about how hard life was when it wasn't actually that bad. If you repeat a lie loud enough and long enough, eventually everyone just accepts it as gospel.😁
What do you mean, lower value?
Well, now you’re definitely worth double!

I wouldn't go out—not a chance. I guarantee every single one of them weighs more than I do right now. It’s always a shocker, isn't it? How some scrawny guy standing 6'1" can easily tip the scales at 170 or 180 pounds... basically, they're all heavier than me, so they can just stay out of my elevator.😁
So now I'm just doing all the prep work for the baby myself...
Man, Eve, Eve...
Man, what a greedy sheep... why didn't he just let her go?!!
Then they’d all be whining and jumping into bed every time they so much as sneezed or sniffled 😬
It drives me crazy that I’m the only one feeling the urge to prep everything for the baby and get the house in order. Then my husband has the nerve to say, "Oh, look at you, getting all nesting-ready," while my blood pressure is hitting the ceiling. Honestly? Part of me just wants to blow the whole thing up—let him handle the cleaning and the prep his way while I’m stuck in the hospital. But then again, if I did that, my mom would just swoop in to fix everything, and he still wouldn't lift a finger. The baby would end up coming home wearing his old oversized T-shirt, and the family would immediately ditch the diapers, letting her build immunity by rolling around in the dirt and leftover scraps from some backyard BBQ... probably even disinfecting the umbilical cord with cheap bourbon or something.
I can barely tolerate myself lately, but it’s not even funny. It honestly feels easier for me to pull every single book off the shelves, dust them, and put them back than it does for him to help.

I’d give every man out there just one hour of that week 39 pregnancy bliss—specifically during those six minutes of active labor. Maybe then they’d actually see things differently (assuming they even survived 😬).
Finally got cut in front of for the first time the other day. At the bank. I'm 37 weeks pregnant—maybe I’m finally visible now, huh?

And don't even get me started on the grocery stores... It drives me nuts when people spot the bump and suddenly act all awkward, looking everywhere but at me. Or they try to sell me these pathetic excuses—stuff like, "Oh, I'm in such a rush, otherwise I'd let you go," or "I only have two things, I'll be super quick," or some woman going, "I'd let you go, but my leg is killing me so I can't move." Like, who asked you to let me go?? I stood at the end of the line on my own. I wasn't expecting anything, I wasn't pushing, I wasn't groaning... what's the point? Is your conscience just that heavy that you have to make excuses?
amberheron62 said:I honestly don't get why everyone is making excuses for this kind of backward thinking. People act like this stuff is just some unavoidable relic from the middle of nowhere or deep in the Central Valley, but it's just plain wrong. I actually stumbled upon a post on here recently where a woman was basically saying, "I can't even imagine being a mom to a girl... ufff. We haven't found out the sex yet, but I'm praying it's not a daughter, because that would be a nightmare." 😢 "

I don't hang out on this forum all that much, but I just had to jump in because it felt like nobody else was calling this out.

Man, that really broke my heart. 😢

Look, you don't have to take everything so literally—like, "Ugh, I'll be miserable if it's not a boy."

Personally, I can't picture myself raising a little boy... it just feels more natural for me to have girls. Ever since I started thinking about having my own kids, it's always been girls in my head. And well, I'll be a second-time girl mom soon enough. 🙂

But I'm not saying I'd be miserable or disappointed if it were a boy. It's just that I'd need some extra time to adjust to that reality. To me, this feels completely natural and normal, but... whatever word I pick, someone's going to twist it and take it the wrong way.
Music school recommendations? in Students & Teens ·
Sounds like a solid plan to me!
You really can't go wrong with something like this—especially if the kid actually loves music and has a sense of rhythm to begin with.
I still have such great memories of stuff like this from when I was a kid—unlike those brutal ear training classes, anyway.
Music school recommendations? in Students & Teens ·
I started out in music preschool when I was little 🙂
If memory serves, I was totally hooked 😍
We’d learn songs while the teacher played piano or guitar—we just sat there in a circle singing along... we did choreography, learned basic notation, and practiced rhythm through games. It was all pretty laid back and fun

Later, once I actually started formal music school, I could play most tunes by ear—at least until I finally figured out how to read sheet music. I was on the piano back then
The body isn't some predictable machine—you can have a late ovulation, skip it entirely, or it happens way before that famous "day 14" everyone obsesses over...
so yeah... sperm can always be a risk here.🤣
And look, that fluid you're releasing? There's a little bit of sperm in there—not much, but it's there.

You know what you call couples who rely solely on tracking fertile days?
...parents.

Dr. Jokić—he was at the new hospital a few years back, hope he’s still there. I’ve seen a few of their doctors, but Jokić is definitely the most experienced one they have.
