Digital tests always show two lines when they work. You just can't seem to read a single strip properly.

Go grab a basic test from a drugstore—they're only about five bucks. Just take it in two days using your first morning urine, and if you're pregnant, it should show up.

...after what felt like an endless, exhausting marathon of "negotiations," my husband and I finally had our first unprotected encounter two weeks ago... then about a week later, I started running to the bathroom every five minutes just to pee three drops, my appetite went totally haywire—I’ve been eating like there’s no tomorrow—and lately, I’ve been checking my temperature constantly, and it’s consistently sitting at a weirdly high 99.5 F... so naturally, I started spiraling. On top of all that, the day before yesterday, I started getting these intense pains—sometimes on the left, sometimes on the right—and trust me, my usual period cramps don't feel anything like this... honestly, with everything happening, I was convinced I might be pregnant, but I figured I couldn't even take a test for another 4 or 5 days. Well, I went out this morning and grabbed a Clearblue, and wouldn't you know it... the + came back as an 8) ... so I did another one, just to be absolutely certain, using a Grainger test, and it showed a faint, but definitely visible, line!!! So, I AM PREGNANT!!! I need to get to my OBGYN immediately!!!
...sorry for the massive vent, I just really needed to share this with someone other than my husband, and I've heard it's not wise to tell anyone we know until we're at least 6 or 7 weeks along, and I'm not even at week 2 yet!!!
Ugh, now I'm just freaking out about the whole situation!!! I just hope this little plus sign sticks... hopefully my husband did his job right!!! 😁

Congratulations! Just take a breath, calm down, and try to enjoy this. Unless you have severe pain or bleeding, there is no reason to rush to the doctor right this second. They won't be able to see anything clearly until you're about three weeks after your missed period (which is roughly 7 weeks pregnant, since they count from the first day of your last period), so there's no real rush. Just give them a call and schedule an appointment.

Does anyone here have any firsthand experience or reliable info regarding implantation bleeding? I’ve been reading up on it, and apparently, it can show up about 6 to 10 days after conception. It might look like light, bright red spotting, or it could be more of a brownish, old-looking discharge... just various little things like that.

Well, it actually happened to me yesterday—just some very light bleeding, leaning much more toward that brownish tint. We had unprotected sex about seven days ago, and then a few more times after that, though that seems a bit early, doesn't it? So, I’m having my doubts about whether it was from that initial encounter seven days back. 😁

I am fully aware that nobody here can give me a definitive answer—only my OBGYN or a pregnancy test can really settle this—but I was wondering if, based on your own experiences, this could actually be a sign of pregnancy? Normally, I don't deal with any weird spotting like this unless it's right before my period starts, but this feels different, and my actual period isn't due for another two and a half weeks. Do you think it’s way too early to take a test since my period isn't even late yet?

If that really was implantation bleeding, a test could show positive in as little as 2 or 3 days. Mine turned positive just 2 days after my spotting, but the line was so faint I wasn't even sure if I was seeing it. I waited 2 more days and took another one; it was still faint, but definitely visible. If you aren't interested in waiting until your period is actually late, I'd suggest waiting at least 4 days after the spotting and using your first urine in the morning. Just keep in mind, if the test comes back negative before your period arrives, you can't fully trust the result. Good luck!
silenttinker812 said:Thanks for the advice. I was originally planning to wait 14 days after the encounter, but then I read that this Victoria's Secret test is meant for early detection—so I figured it might give me a pretty solid answer right now... hoping it's just stress 🙄

Sure, you could, but if it comes back negative, you won't have any peace of mind because it hasn't been long enough to be an absolutely reliable result.
silenttinker812 said:So, I had sex three times about 10 days ago—all with a condom... and those were actually my first times ever... My period was supposed to show up last Saturday, but nothing. Now I have zero clue why I'm four days late 😕
I mean, we used protection and it was probably my non-fertile window since my cycle is pretty consistent—usually 28 to 31 days
But if I somehow ended up pregnant after all that, I'm screwed 😠
I just want to take a test because I'm completely tripping out... just need to rule one thing out

The chance of you being pregnant is minimal. I would have said your period is late due to the stress of worrying about pregnancy. Just take a test 14 days after the encounter; your period will probably show up the same afternoon you finally feel relieved that you aren't pregnant. That is usually how it goes...

my period is already 14 days late. I've been needing to pee constantly, and cigarettes have suddenly become totally revolting to me—I used to smoke a pack a day, but now I can barely look at one. Honestly, before my morning cigarette, I was basically a walking hazard to myself and everyone else 🙂. I've got this daily stabbing pain low in my abdomen, and there's just this weird, unsettling sensation all day long. Plus, for a few nights in a row, I've been waking up wide awake on my own, usually right before dawn, and I just can't drift back to sleep... some days I feel like I could eat everything in sight, and other days the mere thought of food makes me nauseous. My mood swings are so intense lately that people literally get out of my way :P. Oh, and there's been this whitish-yellow discharge for the last week...
If my boyfriend hadn't asked when I was due, I wouldn't have even realized it was late 🙂. He talked me into picking up an Intuit test this afternoon, and it came back negative!! NOOOO!!! 😢 (even though we were both getting excited about a little stinky baby, despite not really planning for one! hmmm so should I try testing again in a few days if my period still doesn't show up?

btw I want a plusssssss!!!! 🙂

Are your cycles usually regular? I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but after a two-week delay, a test shouldn't give a false negative. However, it is possible you ovulated later than usual. If I were you, I'd test again in a few days. If it's still negative and your period hasn't arrived, see a gynecologist; a cyst could be causing the delay.

silenttinker812 said:Thinking about picking up an Intuit test and taking it tomorrow morning... I had sex about a week and a half ago, and my period is already four days late... Just wondering if it’s too soon for a test—will it actually give me a real answer?😕

I don't quite follow... 😕 in most cases, ovulation occurs roughly 14 days before menstruation, which is when you need to have sex if you want to conceive. You're saying you're late, but the intercourse was 10 days ago, meaning it was 6 days before your expected period.

Of course, it's possible ovulation was delayed. Wait until 14 days have passed since the last unprotected encounter and then there won't be any doubt about the results. It's possible you might get a positive earlier, but if it's negative, you can't be sure because it might just be too early.

wanderingcobra76 said:I don't think you need to worry this much. I get it—you're a mom and everything feels high-stakes when it involves your baby—but look at it this way:

Drug labels are legally REQUIRED to list every single possible side effect, no matter how rare.

Sulfadiazine is actually given orally to infants when medically necessary under strict supervision, which results in much higher blood concentrations than what you're dealing with.

Dermazin cream would be used on a small child for burns just the same way.

The area you applied it to was tiny, and since it was only for a short time, it’s highly unlikely that such a minimal concentration of the active ingredient (which starts being processed by the liver immediately, by the way) could harm a nursing baby. Serious side effects usually stem from the substance accumulating in the system over prolonged use.

The only real concern would be an allergic reaction, but if the baby were sensitive to it, you would have seen symptoms already.

As for medication warnings in general:
Since it's impossible to conduct actual clinical trials on drugs regarding their impact on a fetus or nursing infant, manufacturers play it safe and always state that certain preparations shouldn't be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
The exception is medications so widely used by pregnant and nursing women that retrospective data has proven they aren't harmful.

Your best bet is to stop using it, call the burn unit, and ask if they can recommend an alternative cream that is safe for breastfeeding.

I completely agree; there's really nothing to worry about here. It is incredibly rare for a drug to be potent enough that such a brief, localized application could pass enough through your milk to hurt a baby.

I had surgery when my little one was 8 months old. I was on anesthesia, antibiotics, and blood thinners, and I kept badgering the staff about whether I could breastfeed. They told me I could without any issues; only one doctor suggested waiting 24 hours, but since I was in the hospital anyway, I couldn't nurse during that window regardless.

I think my husband might be the absolute gold standard for laziness. I tend to blame his mom because he was an only child, and his parents and grandma basically treated him like he was made of gold. When we first started living together, it drove me absolutely crazy; I had total nervous breakdowns over how lazy he was. I kept thinking he’d eventually change, but unfortunately, nothing ever did. Now, I just lose my mind a little less because I’ve somewhat accepted the situation. Since he barely touches the mess, if he never helps me tidy up, he can't exactly complain about whether I've cleaned, cooked, or done the laundry...🤷

Now, while I'd love for him to show me a bit more affection and care while I'm pregnant, 😉 it would be nice if he didn't just tell me how "great" things are for me now simply because I'm handling this pregnancy relatively well and getting to hang out at home all day. Yesterday, I spent two hours ironing, and my back and legs were absolutely killing me. On top of that, I wasn't feeling great earlier in the day, yet there he was, playing video games all afternoon, only to flop onto the bed and gloomily remark that I have no idea how lucky I am... oh my god!! 🙂 Well, I feel better now that I've vented. 🙂

They’re all cut from the same cloth. Mine was throwing a fit twenty minutes ago because I kept tossing and turning—my arms go numb and I can't breathe properly when I lie down, so he couldn't sleep either. Poor guy, right?

I’m five months into this pregnancy now, and honestly, everything just feels off. It’s not like my husband is complaining—ha, yeah, right—but I’m starting to lose my patience with it all.😠 I don't even wake up thinking about sex anymore; if we aren't making out first thing in the morning, I’m basically a zombie for the rest of the day.🙄 Then, at the very least, there’s once more in the evening 🙄 but during the day, the thought crosses my mind at least twenty times.

I’m pretty sure I’m carrying a little boy with a massive libido.☕

Sorry, but I have to say this. 😂😂😂😂
I believe things aren't easy for you, though there is nothing wrong with that...
Enjoy it while you can! 👍 We only manage to sleep together once a week because this belly makes everything so exhausting; I practically need a forklift just to change positions. 🤣

Does that itch?
It drives me crazy how my partner just doesn't seem to register that I’m actually pregnant most of the time. He expects me to handle everything—doing the dishes, running to the bakery, heading to campus, working—but the second his friends call him to head out to a local brewery or a game, he won't even ask if I want to come. He just tells them "no" on my behalf because I'm feeling too unwell.
He barely touches my stomach for two seconds, like he’s just checking a box because he "has to." I honestly thought he’d be more interested now that there's a baby on the way and he could actually see the movement.

There’s plenty of other stuff that bugs me (especially as a future daughter-in-law), but I'll save that for another time. 🙂
I had a slight fever, maybe around 99 degrees, and headaches can definitely be caused by hormones. Like others have already mentioned, the cheapest test will still show a positive if you're actually pregnant. Good luck!
