I tried stuff from M&m and they're great, a pound is $37, the pastries at Piece of Cake are also solid, a pound is $40, and Melody is $23. Their slices are a little too big for my liking, which bugs me, but the flavor is fine. I also hit up Kansas and the treats there are awesome. We actually chatted with the owner yesterday—you can work out pretty much anything with them, like specific flavors or how you want things put together. They're super nice.
I am uncertain how much my standards have slipped, but I cannot comprehend why people claim these prices aren't exorbitant. To me, any price exceeding $27 per pound was always my threshold, yet we are now looking at 110 or even $40 😕
Much appreciated, David Howard9. 👍 The women in my family all noticed it immediately through the flavor profile; there was this distinct metallic aftertaste, and my mother could swear she tasted nothing but cheap margarine in the frostings, though my sister insisted she’d never had better pastries. 😛 I found myself feeling 😲 quite uncertain once again, but you have finally helped me reach a decision.

I intend to slice the cake out on the terrace by candlelight anyway, so the quality of the glaze won't even be visible 😉 personally, I find that specific cake to be the finest of them all (though there is an even better one back in New York 🤣). At a wedding once, I told myself that when I finally marry, that is where the cake will come from. To be fair, they didn't actually slice it there; the waiters simply brought it to the table... but that cherry chocolate one, which is flourless, is absolutely divine.

It matters little to me either way; I couldn't care less about the distinction. 😉
David Howard9, if you happen to find anything out, do let me know—a private message is fine. 🙂

It is one $33. Their website states it clearly. We have reached several conclusions 😁 regarding the fact that the cake will be sourced from a bakery, and we intend to give the local shop in Majetić one final chance since the mothers were unimpressed; if they fail to deliver, we will either pivot to Sugar Land or perhaps hire two women from the neighborhood who bake at home, depending entirely on the cost.
I sampled them just moments ago, and they are quite delicious 😍 I shall wait until this evening to allow my mother to provide her assessment, which will ensure a more expert verdict. They are notably moist and tender—a relief, as I have little patience for dry pastries—offering both creamy varieties and miniature jelly donuts. Truly delightful. 🙂
I told you 😉 the cakes are actually superior; occasionally they improve by the following day once the texture settles and the sponge becomes more moist. My personal favorites are the chocolate icebox cake and cheesecake, though you really ought to sample the cream puffs 🤣 because they are phenomenal.

But hey, we haven't backed out yet, so if we decide to go for it, they can whip up as many individual slices as we need.
That is simply how they operate. I attended a wedding once where there wasn't even a ceremonial cutting; the cake was just placed on the table, so the structure didn't matter to them. You could always have one sliced up and then serve both. 🤷

She served this pale, beige cream instead of the rich brown stuff, and the pastry layers were totally soggy because of that sad excuse for a filling. It felt like the whole thing was underbaked. Plus, instead of that perfect, light, flaky crunch you expect from homemade treats, the crust had this weird, rubbery texture—kind of like those cheap, store-bought ones you find at a gas station rather than actual artisan pastry. Anyway, I’m heading over to Piece tomorrow to pick some up and see if they’ve actually improved, but if they miss the mark too, I’m just going straight to East... Actually, I think I'll grab boxes from both tomorrow so I can compare them side-by-side. I really don't have the mental energy to obsess over every little detail anymore...
Is there a particular reason you wouldn't just get yours from Stefan at Spoon? I am curious if there is some specific motivation behind that choice.🤷 I haven't sampled his pastries yet, but the man prepared both cakes and desserts for the G7 Summit, so I assume if he can satisfy heads of state, he can likely manage to satisfy me.😁
The local bakery is struggling to stay afloat, and their prices have climbed to $33per pound. I personally find their cakes to be exceptional, though the cookies are merely decent. My wife insists on using pure butter instead of margarine, avoiding all those artificial powders, dyes, and preservatives. That is precisely why they command a premium. They maintain a website if you care to take a look http://www.bakery.com/
In my experience, nothing beats the cakes from Magnolia Bakery... I had some at a wedding recently, and that cheesecake was particularly striking 😍. They also served chocolate cherry cakes that had everyone raving. That bakery is located right in the heart of Midtown. I considered ordering from them, but I hesitated because I know Chef Gordon Ramsay does work over at Spoon, and I suspect his pastries are top-tier. We will sample the latter first, naturally. 🙂
