So basically, Max just crushed it despite driving a car that wouldn't even score points... 🙏

Well, Red Bull actually admitted themselves that Max and the other driver aren't getting identical cars...

That's interesting.

Man, it’s always hilarious when people start comparing their beat-up old cars to a NASCAR car and themselves to the drivers.

There was all this hype about that massive charge toward second place right at the finish line.
Some folks see it as just bullying the smaller teams while driving a dominant car—while others think it’s pure GOAT-level skill from the driver.

Honestly, it mostly just sounds like salty haters venting because they were already popping champagne the second Lewis hit the wall... man, I would pay good money just to see those sour faces once the race actually ended.😁

Just let them be.

😁

Honestly, I'm just curious about the athletic achievements of people who think like you or Amanda Kelly... I mean, have you ever actually put effort into an organized competition—something that doesn't involve a gamepad—to talk like this about someone who is literally the greatest in history at what they do?

gentlemoose57 said:I get why people are so worked up—it's tough seeing Lewis Hamilton overtake their little idols—but honestly, some of this is just plain distasteful.

Well, not really—you can tell by how this one fan is acting that they basically admit Lewis is miles ahead, but they just think he’s getting too much attention and overstepping his bounds... you know, until he isn't in the car anymore.

It reminds me of when people told LeBron James to just "shut up and dribble"—I guess these folks would rather Lewis just "shut up and drive."

Man, come on guys, it's not the 1900s anymore... if athletes are using these platforms, then that's just how it is now. 🙂

Some of us even have a TRX installed in the meantime.

With Alonso's and Kim's (and maybe Max's soon) portraits right there in my line of sight... 😳

But hey, those details are probably way too personal for this dive bar of a forum, so I'll stop there.

Out of all of them, only Kimi actually counts... and even then, only until he jumped ship to Ferrari...

The way they're mocking him really tells you everything you need to know about their character... just a bunch of couch potatoes living life from the sofa to the fridge and back again...

If Lewis had been at the same level his whole career as guys like Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso, or Max Verstappen, he’d probably have 9 titles by now and be chasing number 10.
just my two cents...

graniteharbor502 said:That's just what happens when you're driving the best car on the grid. Mistakes tend to fly under the radar back then. But this season? Mercedes-Benz doesn't have that massive edge over Red Bull Racing anymore, so those errors are going to start catching up to them. I'm actually expecting more mistakes from Lewis now that the pressure is really on.

With 100 wins already in the bag, he definitely has a lot of pressure on him right now. 😁

The standings after just two races really tell the whole story. Even with a slower package, they’re still sitting at the top... okay, maybe the sample size is small, but if they end up finishing 8th this year, they might as well just retire now—and all those forum haters will be deleting their accounts in a hurry 😁

Honestly, this championship is Red Bull Racing's to lose... and besides that, Sergio Perez hasn't said his final word yet...

copperdrifter26 said:The W12 is actually a great car. They looked just a tiny bit quicker than the Red Bull all weekend—until Q3 RB ended up level and Max missed out on pole. Lewis was great, though maybe not at his absolute peak. Charles Leclerc in that car is easily 3-4 tenths ahead of Sergio Perez.

Max was totally dominant in the race. Lewis really should have let him through in the first corner—he lost that battle because he was trying too hard and almost ended up with a broken wing! All things considered, he did okay. Both their paces were incredible; Max was slightly faster, but Hamilton is still the master of tire management even with a damaged car, so he closed the gap quite a bit.

Behind them, Leclerc is leaving Sergio Perez in the Red Bull 17 seconds in the dust. After the pit stops, he’s got a 28s lead over Lando Norris and is a massive 35s ahead of his teammate—who has decent speed but keeps spinning out whenever the track gets soaked.

As for the rest, Daniel Ricciardo is getting absolutely crushed. He really needs to step it up, otherwise Lando Norris is going to build a gap that’ll be impossible to close.

Same goes for Fernando Alonso... looks like he’s definitely ready for retirement.

Regarding Vettel, he was actually good and fast during the race. I think once he finds his rhythm, Lance Stroll won't be an issue, but I'm worried there's nothing left for him at Aston Martin.

I have to mention the "incredible" Lewis Hamilton, who manages to hit the barriers at the most critical moments of the race, barely rolls the car back up with a shattered nose, and then sees a Red Flag five seconds later. Unbelievable. He swaps the nose in the pits without a penalty, starts from 9th, and with 30 laps left, manages to fight through a bunched-up grid to finish second. All this praise for that kind of driving is wild, considering this isn't a highlight reel—it's an F1 forum.

Honestly, people are just being ignorant here. When you saw how every little mistake sent drivers off because of the wet patches off the racing line... so yeah, giving Lewis credit for P2 after starting P10 is totally deserved.

graniteharbor502 said:You forgot the most important part: he's lucky he's arguably the biggest talent we've seen in the last thirty years.👍

There will never be a bigger talent than Lewis... and nobody is even coming close to touching his records.

ruggedhawk20 said:Exactly. Instead of just enjoying the pure magic of JRC for another season—since he’s basically decided to bless us with his god-given talent again—what did you guys choose to do? You chose to hate. Because hating is way easier than actually appreciating greatness. Obviously.

The kind of brilliance we're seeing lately is right up there with Prost at Adelaide 1986, Senna Donington 1993, Schumacher at Spa Francorchamps 1995, Villeneuve at Indianapolis 1995, or Vettel at Interlagos 2012....

Honestly, the guy is giving us these legendary performances on track and literally improving our quality of life—watching him gets my endorphins, serotonin, and adrenaline pumping all at once! And instead of saying, "Thanks, Lewis, for deciding to grace us with one more season," people just keep hating and hating for their own weird reasons. Some can't handle that he passed Ayrton Senna, some can't accept he's better than Vettel or Prost, and others just can't deal with the fact that he's better than MSC. Oh, and some just don't like his outfit choices.

Shame on you all.

Look, we all know the real reason most people are annoyed... and it isn't any of those things you listed...

Roger Wright94 said:Did he make the decision for one more season, or was it Toto?
It feels to me like the conversation went something like this (long story short):
- Alright Toto, you want me to keep driving for you or what?
- Of course I do, Lewis. Just tell me what you need.
- First off, the car still needs to be faster than everyone else's by at least a second or two. You've always made sure of that, and I know you still can.
- Second, you can't keep paying me the same amount—I mean, I'm basically a world record holder in everything.
- Lewis, I can't go higher than what we have now. We're dealing with Corona, it's a massive crisis, I don't know what you're thinking.
- What does that have to do with me? I'm a legend. And I'm a huge influencer too, don't embarrass me in front of the world. Give me at least 70.
- Are you crazy!? I can do 35, and that's already double what anyone else gets.
- Huh? Only 35? Are you kidding me? Where would you guys even be if I wasn't driving for you???
...
Lewis is lucky his boss isn't the first one he ever drove for. With him, he'd only have a contract for the next race.

Not everything that hurts is an illness.

View on twitter

But then—since luck was clearly on his side—Tsunoda basically knocked himself out of the race by spinning off 🙄
(the video starts with Max Verstappen driving through the grass, which he handled perfectly)

"handled perfectly" hahaha—the Ferrari guy in second didn't just cruise past because he felt like it... Max was off track, end of story...

As for Lewis, honestly, he played it smart—he saw how chaotic things were getting, backed off, and managed to climb from P10 all the way to P2...

Not everyone who wasn't thrilled with a driver spinning off and wrecking his car is a hater.

That's true—I honestly don't get why people are trying so hard to prove Lewis Hamilton messed up when everyone else saw it too and feels the same way. 😁

But you have to admit, that point B thing was easily one of the most ridiculous F1 takes you've ever read... I mean, they'd be measuring the gap in minutes! 🤣

Lucky enough that there's a replay out there—definitely going to catch up on what I missed.

Yeah, honestly—between the two best drivers on the grid, you can't even tell who messed up worse. Was it Lewis Hamilton overtaking a backmarker, or Max Verstappen spinning out under the safety car? Honestly, Max was only saved by how much mercy that guy behind him showed...

Roger Wright94 said:Yesterday's takeaways:

a) He got bullied right at the start by Max (who was sitting in P3). Just totally bullied!

b) He lost significant ground to Max early on while the track was still pretty wet.
At least 1.5 seconds per lap—in those conditions, he would've been minutes behind Max by the end if it stayed like that.

c) That error where he went off track? Pure arrogance. I guess he’s just too used to being able to overtake whenever and wherever he wants—given the car he's driving. He definitely overstepped his limits this time.

Since Valtteri seemed to be in his own little world all weekend, there isn't much to go on regarding the car's actual speed. It's entirely possible—and honestly likely—that Lewis was the one providing that extra kick. So, I'd say Lewis was neck-and-neck with Red Bull, though I'm not so sure about the Mercedes performance itself.

That said, looking at race pace, Mercedes had at least a half-second advantage (probably more) over the rest of the field. Because of that, seeing him charge from P8 or P9 up to P2 over about twenty laps feels a bit like watching a pro marksman hit clay pigeons—it's almost expected!
Personally, out of pure decency—and respect for myself and Lewis as a driver—I'd never go around publicly bragging or celebrating a feat like that.

a) Just because you repeat yourself three times doesn't make it true—especially when nobody's listening.
b) Lol, he was missing a chunk of his front wing.
c) LOL

Man, some of these haters are unbelievable—acting like it's some miracle he made it to 2nd place, meanwhile Botko was basically out for a Sunday stroll in the same car...
