PREGNANCY!!

First, I dealt with a hematoma.
Then came the nausea and constant burping.
On top of that, I tested positive for E. coli in a urine culture and had to go on antibiotics.
Just when we hit the second trimester and I thought, "Okay, maybe now I can actually relax," my husband ended up needing surgery—so much for avoiding unexpected stress.
Once that passed, my blood pressure started dropping way too low.
And now, being in the third trimester... well, it's just non-stop movements and twitches.
I'm on strict bed rest, and even moving an inch feels like a marathon.
My glucose test also flagged gestational diabetes.
I’m handing in another urine sample tomorrow, and honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they found an elephant in there.🤷 I mean, I really wouldn't.

I have this feeling that every single possible complication in pregnancy decided to target me specifically.

Oh, Luna, 😲you're really going through it! But it’ll all be worth it once the little one arrives. 😍
cosmicbison5 said:My legs are feeling alright today, thank God—no swelling so far. And I am really, truly hoping it stays that way.
I’ve been trying to psych myself up! We were supposed to head into Washington, D.C. for some shopping, but honestly, I just can't find the motivation. It's not even a massive drive, but once you factor in the hour on the road plus the actual shopping itself... ugh. Then I remember that I actually *need* to buy things because we have wedding guests arriving in just three weeks... and suddenly, everything feels incredibly overwhelming. I feel like I might just faint right here. If I had my way, I’d stay holed up at home for the next six or seven weeks and avoid people entirely. Not to mention how desperately I’m counting down the days until all of this is over and I can finally just hold my baby!
ARGH, summer and pregnancy.

cosmicbison5, it's like I'm reading my own diary here! 😍

Are you pregnant too? Maybe a bit further along than me. I'm 30 weeks and 6 days today and I've had enough. I honestly wish my due date was right now just so I could get this over with and see this little miracle!! 😍
I have wedding guests arriving this weekend, and I have this knee-length dress, but the amount of cellulite I've picked up in the last few weeks is enough to make me cry. On top of that, I still have to go shopping—another hour-long drive—to grab a crib and other baby essentials (skincare, hospital bag stuff, etc.). Everything feels harder and harder, especially in this heat. Breathing is a struggle, and if I catch a whiff of someone's perfume, I'm immediately nauseous and seeing spots. I'm getting annoyed with myself for being so sensitive to everything; it makes me want to stay inside.

Long story short:
- unexpected cellulite issues
- gained more weight than anticipated
- heavy belly makes getting out of bed or turning over a chore
- extreme sensitivity to smells
- constant need for fresh air and a bottle of ice water nearby or I'll pass out
- and don't even get me started on the constant worrying about whether the baby is developing fine, if the heartbeat is steady, or what the delivery will be like... it's just a constant loop in my head.

I’ve heard the buzz about Alastomeri too, but if you really want proof, just head down to the local farmers market out in the Midwest! There are a few stalls there, and I’ve actually picked up some birthday bouquets from them a couple of times. Honestly, they were great—modern, stylish, and way cheaper than anything you'd find at a high-end florist. I worked with Attila Gašpar; his little shop is called "kala".

I can point you toward this florist in a small town in the Midwest, just outside of Indianapolis. I haven't visited her shop myself, but some girls from my hometown have, and they swear by her work. It’s right in the Columbus area 😉. If you want, I can shoot you her number via DM?

velvetraven12 said:Well, I have to say, you didn't exactly help me there! 240 pounds??? For 220 guests??? That works out to barely one pound per person! Honestly, I don't think anyone is going to eat that much cake! For a crowd of 220, you’re looking at maybe 90 to 100 pounds total. Typically, we calculate based on about half a pound per person, so that's the standard rule of thumb. But 240 pounds is just way too much! 😉

My bad, sorry. Just realized what I wrote there. I was calculating 0.5 lbs per table, not per person. My mistake! Honestly, that should be plenty—you could even bump it up to 0.75 lbs per table if you want. If you're planning on sending treats home with guests, though, you definitely need to order more.
For my last event with 450 people, I ordered about 150 pounds of dessert—that covered both the buffet tables and the take-home portions.
I use these little gift-style boxes for the favors; they hold about 7 ounces of sweets.

George Morgan6 said:Hey ladies, I could really use a little help here...

So, we’ve got about 280 people on the wedding guest list. Realistically? Probably somewhere between 200 and 220 will actually show up. But honestly, my brain is just totally fried trying to calculate how many pounds of dessert I actually need to order...

The setup is going to be round tables with maybe 8 or 10 people per table, plus some extra to pass around...

As for the stuff at the house afterward, his mom is handling all the baking there...

If anyone knows the standard math for how much food you actually need, please let me know!

Pusa to everyone, good luck!

Honestly, the best move is to ask the baker directly. If she’s done weddings before, she'll already have a template ready to go.
When I asked my baker, she told me for a table of 8-10, you usually need about 1 to 1.5 lbs total—basically two pieces per person.
So, if you're looking at 220 guests, maybe aim for roughly 110 lbs of dessert if you stick to that half-pound-per-table rule...
Hope that helps. Just make sure to double-check with the bakery or whoever is catering. Don't let them talk you into ordering way more than necessary—like a full 2 lbs per table. They'll try to upsell you, but you don't need it.

wanderingpilot8 said:Does anyone have any solid recommendations for photographers or videographers? And honestly, what kind of price range am I looking at here—is everyone just charging whatever they feel like? Thanks! 😉

Prices fluctuate quite a bit—you might see quotes for $4.00 but you can find options for as low as $1.75.
When I was looking for my own, I focused on finding the right balance of price, quality, and vibe. It really depends on what you're after, whether you want traditional shots or something a bit more unique...
I ended up hiring a guy from Reading—he gave me 3 DVDs, 150 photos organized in an album, plus 150 thank-you cards for $2.00. Included in those were about 20 large prints of the couple (A4 size). If I want extra prints later, he only charges me about $1.30 per $0.50. You also get a CD with all the wedding photos.
You can actually see some of his work in Ashley's signature; try searching through some older posts, though I don't think she's been active on the forum lately.
Anyway, hope that helps... 😉

wanderinghawk99 said:There's a salon right at the edge of Indianapolis in Laramie, I can't remember the name, but it's $40. I know some girls who have used them, one even went there for her wedding and it turned out fine. That's pretty much the standard price you'll see everywhere else...

Salon Perla is right by Central Park. I gave them a call the other day about full-body spray tanning $40. They suggest coming in 1-2 days beforehand, wearing comfy black clothes in the evening. They spray you down, and honestly, it's best to just relax for the rest of the night. Shower it off the next morning and you're good to go. It sounds alright, but I'm a little nervous about ending up looking blotchy... 🤷 The manager at Salon Perla mentioned they work with brides all the time and it's totally fine. I think it would be smart to try it now; if it works, I'll do it for the wedding party, and if not, I'll never go back—and I'll definitely report back to this forum... 🤣 I'm still weighing it. I'd only commit to it if it means I don't have to spend hours in a tanning bed ten times over... 🙄

That salon in Laramie—I think it's called "Ona," if that's the one—I've heard nothing but great things about them! Their nails and facials are top-tier.

If you're planning a facial before a wedding, aim for at least two weeks out so your skin has time to settle. You really need to stay hydrated and stick to clean, veggie-heavy meals. My skin is temperamental, so I've had to put together a whole survival plan... 🤣 😂 That's actually why I'm hesitant about the spray tan—what if my skin has a bad reaction? Total disaster, right? 😕 😕

Just in case anyone’s looking... I’m putting together a private order for some teen party cakes and pastries. A couple of local women make them at home—they aren't running official businesses or anything, but honestly, the quality is top-tier.
Both of them are based out of Savannah (one handles the custom cakes, the other does the pastries).
The pastries go for $17/lb.
The cake itself is a three-tier stack covered in that fondant stuff—you know, looks like marzipan but it's way smoother and better. That lady provides all the cake materials and does the decorations too. It's a pretty massive thing, so it'll probably cost me $267.
If you want the details, just shoot me a DM. 😉

Laura Morris4 said:I have plenty of ideas swirling around in my head... but the real question is whether they’re actually feasible from a budget standpoint.
My partner and I handle all our own expenses, which is exactly why I’ve been diving headfirst into DIY projects lately.
Today, I spent hours scouring the city—literally checking dozens upon dozens of shops—looking for those specific glass globe vessels
that you use for floating candles... but I came up empty. To make matters worse, the local glassware boutiques are charging $40 a piece.$17There is just no way I can justify that cost!

Nary, I actually found those glass bowls at Target (they have locations everywhere, from Indianapolis to much larger cities, and their ads are impossible to miss). I grabbed the smallest size—there are three options—and it was only about $3.25. That's a steal; you won't find anything like that at a local boutique!
I'm doing 25 centerpieces for the tables, and I shouldn't be spending more than $4.25 per arrangement! I'm thinking floating candles, maybe a rose petal or two, or some colored pebbles... You can always dress up the bowl with tulle, bows, or glitter if you want to get fancy...
Best protein powder brands? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Question from someone who’s pretty much a novice here:
- I'm looking specifically at some dietary supplements from Johnson & Johnson. I noticed they have this whey protein that you drink as a shake. Does anyone know if the quality is actually any good?
I'm eyeing this one because it's cheap and easy to find, and honestly, I don't even know where to find a professional supplement shop around here. My plan is to make this shake for my husband in the mornings. He does heavy manual labor—construction work—but he never eats breakfast; he usually doesn't grab anything until around 11:00 AM. I was thinking about tossing a banana and some flaxseed oil into the shake to give him an energy boost and keep him full until his late lunch. If it tastes good and feels like a decent meal, I might actually be able to convince him to drink it...
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
