Back in Old English, the word "blue" actually referred more to a specific shade or quality of light—kind of like how we distinguish between different tones today—while what we’d call deep blue was something else entirely. Like, a cloudy sky wouldn't have been called "blue," it would've been described differently, whereas a bright, clear day was the true "blue."
Look, that’s a massive oversimplification, but you get the gist of it.
Borrowed from some random corner of the internet that I won't bother naming because, frankly, why bother?
Lisa Hernandez3 said:I’ve noticed quite a few things myself (through both observing and participating in various online communities—not under this handle, obviously, and based on only a couple of posts, which I know sounds thin, but still—it gives me some perspective). There are positive aspects, of course; people find common ground, they find a certain satisfaction in communicating, they lean on one another through their posts, and something larger than the sum of its parts begins to form. It connects people whom geography, physical social circles, or mere fate might have kept apart. However, when you gather a large crowd of people and observe how and when individuals join or leave the fray—essentially looking at how they influence the group dynamic and how internal relationships form—you see that it isn't just about an exchange of ideas (if only it were that simple and clinical). It would be easiest to say everything comes down to argumentation—that those who are the most coherent or logical fare the best—but that isn't really how it works. Perverse or not, a huge part of forum dynamics is driven by "fixations." People get obsessed with an idea, a specific communication style, a particular individual, or a favored clique, surfing through threads almost obsessively. Writing on a forum is a form of social presentation. Everyone arrives here looking for something. Perhaps the golden rule of internet forums should be, "don't trust anyone who claims they are only here for a depersonalized exchange of opinions." Because such a person doesn't exist; everyone is here because they want to connect and be connected. The way they choose to connect depends on their skills, their values, and their upbringing. I've always found it fascinating to watch how people "test the waters," and what interests me most is how that interaction shifts. How ambitions grow, how desires toward someone or something on the forum flicker, how frustrations boil over or euphoria explodes—it all ebbs and flows, solidifies, and evolves. A lot of it seems emotional or irrational, but fundamentally it’s a very rational process—usually, it all boils down to a few characteristic interest groups. Even the frustrations fall into those categories: sexual, emotional, or status-driven...
I'm speaking in broad strokes, I know, so let me mention a few specific things that strike me as foolish: I don't mind most people, but I find it uncomfortable to watch those who love to belittle others, or the way people track others' threads just to express admiration, make an impression, or suck up to them 😁, then there's the tendency to fall into communication patterns where the same people always talk to the same people while keeping a suspicious eye on newcomers 😁, and honestly, I find the habit of posting out of pure frustration rooted in real-life issues—and then dancing around the actual problem 😁—to be quite tiresome. Then there's the competitiveness, trying to outdo others with post counts, viewing everything through a personal lens rather than focusing on the content, the attempts to figure out everyone's identity, and all the other manifestations of forum-based infatuation or animosity.
Why does this keep happening? I suppose I agree that it all stems from people just being unhappy.
catchy🤣
Yeah, I’m mostly with everyone else on this thread—these little cliques are always running the show. Honestly, if you want to avoid getting screwed over, you basically have to play the part of the clueless newbie first. You spend all this time sucking up to them, kissing their feet, signing their posts, telling them how brilliant they are... and then, maybe after you've finally established some kind of status, you might actually be allowed to quote someone and disagree with them. But even then? You still have to nod along partially, because if you don't, you're suddenly the asshole.
I hate this crap☕
guys who are this dim-witted honestly deserve a good beating☕
I guess I’ll weigh in on this topic too, too.
Back in the day, I used to bet recreationally—usually just five-dollar slips, $3.50 nothing ever higher than that,
but man, there were plenty of them. It felt incredible when a long shot hit, especially since I was hunting those high-odds parlays in the 20x to 40x range, but the losing streaks? That was a different story. I’d get so worked up—it was like I was some kind of zombie. I’d drop money on my tickets over the weekend and then spend the entire damn time glued to the computer, staring at ESPN scores and live updates until my eyes practically fell out of my head. I’d stay up until 5 or 6 in the morning just waiting to see if I actually won, but more often than not, I was just watching my money vanish.
Since I almost exclusively bet on soccer, and honestly, the quality of play and officiating has gone downhill fast lately—IMO—I got hit by this wave of nostalgia. That’s actually what saved me. It made me lose interest in betting, but if it hadn't happened, I probably would have kept going. In fact, I think I would’ve started putting down way more cash because I was starting to look into those complex betting systems that require a massive bankroll. Eventually, I just lost interest in soccer, and once that died, the betting died with it.
I don't tie my emotions to sports anymore, so the gambling itch isn't even there. Honestly, I’d much rather just go outside and kick a ball around with friends than place a bet on $267 and win; winning would feel like I was betraying who I am now. It’s all garbage and not worth the headache. These days, I can't stand the thought of a sportsbook, and I can't even remember the last time I placed a wager.
I’m genuinely relieved things turned out the way they did and that I walked away when I did. If things hadn't shifted, I think I’d be in a world of hurt right now. I'm just glad I don't have some tragic sob story to tell about this stuff. The bookies aren't seeing me anytime soon.

😂😂 ......😂
I don't have a life and honestly, I don't need one—so you can all just go jump in a lake, especially those people who claim they actually *do* have lives. Who am I supposed to be answering to? Like I said before, I don't need any of this, and frankly, I couldn't care less about what anyone thinks.☕
Don't expect much of a response here—half these people don't even post anymore because they're too busy pretending they actually have lives outside of this screen.🙂
I totally screwed up 🙈
Honestly, just a single pair of socks—or even two if things get messy—should be enough to fix this whole situation😁

Look, I’m not even really taking supplements anymore—haven't been on them much lately, honestly. I was just thinking about maybe boosting my immune system with some multivitamins before the fall hits, plus trying to make up for the electrolytes I lose through sweating during workouts... but I used to take stuff similar to this before, so I wasn't noticing any real difference this time around.
I drink a ton of tap water, and yeah, it’s hard water, but I’ve been drinking the same stuff for almost 20 years now.
Anyway, I’m going to keep an eye on how things are going for another couple of weeks, and if it doesn't improve, I'll just head to the doctor.
stormyheron4 said:Maybe you're just sweating a ton—especially on your face—so the salt and other minerals are just crystallizing as the sweat dries out. It doesn't necessarily mean you're actually losing a massive amount of salt from your system.
And honestly, even if it is salt, it’s probably not a bad thing since it helps regulate your blood pressure by flushing out any excess salt your body doesn't need.
Personally, I’d much rather keep the salt inside my body—my blood pressure tends to run naturally low if I don't stay on top of things, at least that's how it feels to me.🤔
stormyheron4 said:Are you actually taking any minerals—like, do you drink mineral water or even just use salt on your food?
I was messing around with some multivitamins about a week and a half ago—just moderate amounts of iron and magnesium, basically just one pill a day like the label says.
I've got a feeling there isn't a thread for this specific thing out there—it’s like looking for a decent slice of pizza in a town that only serves frozen crust—so I figured I’d just go ahead and start my own.
So, here’s the deal—I’ve been hitting the gym pretty consistently for about a year and a half now, and honestly? I sweat like crazy. Like, seriously, it's a lot. Just one of those things, I guess.
So, I’ve been noticing something weird lately—my sweat has been loaded with salt. Like, seriously loaded. I actually figured this out because I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and saw these literal white crusty trails of crystallized salt sitting right on my skin, exactly where the sweat was dripping down most heavily. It's kind of gross if you think about it too long, but yeah, that's what's happening.
I’m drinking the exact same amount of water I always have, and my diet hasn't changed—I've been eating healthy for a while now—but suddenly everything feels different. Before, I wouldn't have noticed a thing, but now? It's like the changes are hitting me all at once. It's weird how that works—you do the same stuff, follow the same routine, and then one day the needle moves and you're just sitting there wondering why.
I’ve honestly never seen anyone else deal with this, so I’m genuinely curious—is there some kind of underlying condition that forces the body to dump way more salt than it should? Like, am I looking at some specific disorder here, or is it just an organ acting up and failing to do its job properly?🤷
I don't know, man—when I was growing up, my folks never really sat me down to lecture me on anything, except maybe for when my brother and I would get into a scrap or if I started getting a little too reckless. I was basically a headache waiting to happen, so they didn't need to tell me things twice.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to how much sense you have in that skull of yours. That's just how it works. Personally, I was smart enough to stay away from drugs and booze and all that nonsense, whereas these kids today? They’re just idiots who practically need a reality check via a fistfight.
If some knucklehead kids want to go at it, let 'em. It's part of life. But someone with actual brains, like myself, isn't going to get involved because there’s zero reason to waste the energy.
Hell yeah.😁
Honestly, if you ask me, that book is a total pile of garbage. I read it, sure, but what’s the point? It’s not like it actually fixed anything for me. I can wrap my head around the concepts—I get the theory behind it all—but for the life of me, I just can't apply it to real life. I still don't know how to act "correctly" in social situations; I just end up stubborn as hell, doing things my own way. I haven't changed one bit. I’m still the same person hanging out in the corner, just staring at nothing, maybe having a conversation with two friends if I'm feeling lucky. And honestly? That's enough for me.
The whole thing basically just pushes this idea that everyone is some kind of social butterfly, peddling that propaganda about humans being "social animals." But that's clearly not true for everyone—because then I guess I'm not even human. Some days, I just head outside, mess around, and do absolutely nothing productive all day long, and by the end of it, I feel so much happier than if I had spent the time being social with 😢
Yeah, that's just who I am. Don't try to change me, man. 😁
