Back when we were in first grade, we had those little smiley and sad face icons, though that was easily more than twenty years ago😁
About a month ago, we started replacing the hardwood floors on the upper level of our house, which meant we were sleeping in the attic while eating downstairs. When I tried to nudge the contractors to pick up the pace, my husband insisted I back off; he argued they needed to do the job right to avoid future complaints and suggested I was overthinking things, pointing out there was plenty of room in the attic if the baby ended up staying up there with us. He even had the nerve to suggest everything didn't need to be perfectly sterile right away, despite the fact that we were living in a maze of furniture, clothes, and random clutter with absolutely nowhere to safely put a newborn 🤣 Not to mention the endless dust...
The flooring is finally finished and life has returned to some semblance of normalcy, though these guys are still helping out by unloading the dishwasher, swapping out electrical outlets, and fixing a leak in the bathroom. Today, one of them actually showed up with flowers. It’s hard not to appreciate that kind of gesture 😍
One of the more nonsensical pieces of advice I've ever heard is to sleep as much as possible now because you won't be able to later. If someone could actually explain the mechanics of how one is supposed to "stockpile" enough sleep today to last through the future, I would be eternally grateful. As it stands, I am sleeping whenever I can and whenever it is necessary; there is simply no logical reason to spend my entire life in bed just on the assumption that I won't be allowed to rest later.🙄

but what I was actually getting at were more like food allergies....
you know, stuff like almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, and things like that.😳
We had two vegetarians attending our event, and we simply provided them with their own dedicated menu. Regarding guests with allergies, if you happen to know they'll be there, offering a thoughtful alternative is a nice touch, though it’s difficult to account for everyone if you aren't aware of their specific needs. Most people will just take care of themselves by asking the server if any peanuts or tree nuts were used in the preparation.
I had a little tasting session yesterday for my wedding cake since we were hosting a small get-together, and our pastry chef whipped up a chocolate parfait version for us to try. It was gone before the main course even 🤣 hit the table, and everyone was raving about how incredible it was. 🙂 I’m feeling pretty relieved about that. A couple of other dessert options vanished just as quickly too.
