rowdyjackal12 said:And you could've just had them during labor, right?

Glasses... sure...
rowdyjackal12 said:wait, how would they even move? 😕

i mean, i actually want to see what's going on around me, not be stuck like some blind guy in a dark room trying to grab onto someone's sleeve or shoulder like: what's even happening right now?? what are those people down there doing??

i just want some visual control, i guess.

also, can you wear glasses with contacts? ☕

It can slip up under the eyelid if you move your eye the wrong way... My godmother is an ophthalmologist and she's dealt with this several times... That's why I went with my glasses on. 🤷
rowdyjackal12 said:Ugh, people asked me the exact same thing.

But I honestly had no clue what they were even talking about. Is it actually true that women go blind from straining during delivery?! (Assuming they already wear glasses, I guess)

There is just no way I'm buying that!

I wear soft contacts, so I’d probably just show up to the hospital with those. Does anyone know if that's actually okay? 😕

I wouldn't risk it. A lens could slip out of place, and you'll end up needing an eye doctor to fish it out because you won't be able to do it yourself...😉

People are still giving me grief about my dog (because dogs bite kids) and calling me selfish for working instead of resting, claiming my kid needs me to de-stress...🤷 🙄
Dana Brown8 said:I push them back. Why do people even have elbows? My favorites are the ones who ram into me with their carts while standing right behind me... and then act shocked when those carts slam back into them. It wasn't you she was targeting... even if you were twice her age. Some things should be common sense.
I do this even when I'm not pregnant. I can't stand it when people invade my personal space. 😁

🤣😂
At this point, I'm not even sure if I've become completely intolerant or if people have just become total #&/"/(!#%$$$# 😍
Dana Brown8 said:The other day at the grocery store, some woman asked if she could cut ahead of me. I only had bread and milk, and she was in the same boat. When she turned around and saw my stomach, she just blushed, looked down, and muttered, "Never mind." 😁
I used to be the type who couldn't say "no" to save my life. Now? I've learned how to put myself first. 😁

Well, at least your lady felt some shame. Mine just stared at my midsection and made a comment so blunt I nearly fell over. Then she got mad at the cashier, dropped her basket right on the floor, and stormed out of the store... 🤷
Hannah Lewis2 said:I mean, they saw the whole thing—me standing there visibly pregnant, looking like I was about to pop, and the guy just let me right through. To make matters worse, I’ve got two items in my hands and two full carts following me like lost puppies, and all I get is this judgmental side-eye from these ladies. 🙂 And the cashier? Moving at the speed of a tectonic plate!
That’s why I stick to the local corner bodega. Nobody acts like they’re too good for you there. It’s not like I expect everyone to cut the line for me every single time—honestly, half the time I don't even take it when someone does—but I just can't deal with these old ladies acting all high and mighty.

Those women drive me crazy too. 😉
One actually pushed past me once. She only had a basket, while I was holding two things in my hands... 🙂🙂 ...but her cashier finished scanning everything before I could even get close. 🤣🤷
At work, I keep getting asked when I plan on retiring... people act like they’re shocked I’m not constantly worrying about potential complications. It’s ridiculous to think I’d stick around until the very end 🙂🙂

Honestly, I’m almost afraid to walk to the restroom just to avoid bumping into someone. I really don't have the energy for their mindless commentary 🙂🙂
mellowranger16 said:I why is it that most people you meet when you're pregnant can't seem to stick to a normal conversation? Instead, it’s always some unsolicited commentary about whether you'll be able to breastfeed because of your chest size, or warnings about how you shouldn't bend over, or don't do this, or don't do that—it’s relentless 🙂 honestly, I might as well just tape myself to a piece of plywood and walk around like a rigid board, and as for the whole situation with my breasts, it’s just 😂

Because everyone suddenly thinks they’re an expert. Everyone has some connection, some "friend of a friend" who went through it, and they just can't help themselves... they feel the need to lecture you... 😉
If you have small breasts, you're facing an uphill battle just trying to nurse... but if they're large, you're looking at an oversupply that'll leave you in constant pain. It’s a lose-lose situation... ☕
If you lean over, don't crush the baby... If you don't lean over... well, what's the alternative? You aren't incapacitated... ☕🤷
Dana Brown8 said:Back in Chicago, they told us we had to bring an American Standard car seat to the hospital when we were discharged, and the nurse even made sure it was installed perfectly.😁

Taylor Swift regarding what your coworker said about the belly... whenever people ask me how big I am, I just tell them, "Exactly as big as my baby needs to be." End of discussion.
It’s exhausting how some people just open their mouths to speak without a single thought behind it.

At my hospital, they wouldn't even put the baby in an AS, even though my husband brought one... they claimed they didn't do that there.🤷
Honestly, these comments get under my skin. I'd love to just silence anyone who dares to critique me... I don't understand why everyone assumes my body is public property and fair game for commentary. If they're so concerned, they can worry about their own midsections and go see a doctor... assuming they aren't pregnant.🙂 😁

Jacob Phillips4 said:Furthermore, this should be considered mandatory; one must learn from the absolute best. A child raised with a dog or a cat at home would undoubtedly emerge as the fastest participant in any crawling competition.

Mine never actually crawled...☕ It was easier for her to just get a shot and start walking with help.😍 🙂
So, some coworker I barely know—just someone I pass in the hallway ☕—actually had the nerve to tell me my stomach looks too big and that I should probably see a doctor to find out what’s wrong with me 🙂🙂🙂
She doesn't even know how far along I am, let alone any other reason she could have used to jump to that conclusion 😵😵

My mom is being absolutely relentless about her hatred for pets, and now she’s trying to scare us with all these horror stories about parasites, bacteria, and whatever other nasty stuff a little four-legged creature might pass on to my tiny 🙄 God, give me strength...🙂

And then there's this other thing—this friend of mine pops up one day offering me his wife's pregnancy pillow (which, by the way, survived two kids!), but he won't just be a decent human being and let me borrow it, noooooooo, he insists that I buy it from him 😲 and honestly, I found that so incredibly tacky? Like, when all my girlfriends were having babies before me, I was always happy to lend out things I’d already bought for my own little one, and I think a normal rotation of gear (for free) is just how things work, you know? 🤷

Honestly, dogs are healthier than most people... you get them vaccinated annually against all those ailments, and studies show kids raised with pets actually have better immune systems ☕
It irritates me whenever someone asks what I should do with my dog. Usually, it's people who hate themselves in the morning but claim to love the whole world by the afternoon. To them, it’s perfectly normal to euthanize a pet just because a baby is coming 🤷
Besides, this isn't my first child... if I didn't get rid of the pet after the first one, why would I after the second? 🙂

And that's just the tip of the iceberg... I once gave a baby gym to an acquaintance because I received a new one as a gift and didn't need two. That same woman then asked if I wanted to buy the baby gym from her... she barely used it 🤣... so it's clear... I'm being asked to buy back something I originally gave to her 🙂 🙂 🤣
mellowranger16 said:Don't go hanging out with animals too much; the kid might actually start picking up their habits 🙂

I don't follow... 🙂
What, you planning on licking your own backside now? 🤣 Or go all in on all four... 😂
Jacob Phillips4 said:Good grief!

Right? I told you all—dogs are nothing but little monsters...🤣
Jacob Phillips4 said:I have to wonder if that woman is even remotely sane. The only way one could possibly forgive such a comment is if she retreated into her house immediately afterward and began slamming her head against the wall while questioning her own sanity. We all occasionally let something slip that we later regret, certainly, but if this is her standard mode of conversation, one would be wise to give her a very wide berth.

This is my second pregnancy, and I've already realized that everyone seems to know someone who dealt with these exact same issues... 🤷
Some woman told me during my last pregnancy that I needed to get rid of my dog because some acquaintance of a distant cousin knew someone whose dog ate their newborn out of jealousy once they brought it home...🤣🤣😂😂☕
feralgardener11 said:Great, more gender, more names, and then some ridiculous deadline... As if we can never have enough mindless questioning.
This scheduling thing makes zero sense to me. Does nobody realize that there's a 99% chance I won't be in labor on that exact day? 😕
So I give them a vague three-week window and hope for the best.
I suppose I'll just blame myself when they start breathing down my neck mid-next month asking if I'm still intact. 🙂
Do they honestly think people aren't going to speak up? 🙂

My godmother gave me this look when I had my first baby... "Wait, so you aren't due for another two weeks?" She was completely baffled... 🙂🙂

And now, they've started coming after me about it... 🙂
Dana Brown8 said:Yeah, I've been there too. Some people truly just "speak nonsense and somehow survive." What did you say back? Lately, I've started cutting those conversations off immediately. I tell them, "Please, I don't want to hear stories like that." And then I get the typical response: "Why are you getting so angry?"
🙂🙂🙂Makes you even angrier.

I didn't know how to handle it... I just told her "it happens" and walked away... now I'm constantly on edge, waiting to feel that tapping, and it's driving me crazy 🙂
Jacob Phillips4 said:It is quite irritating how I have become an "addict" to this forum; instead of actually being productive, I find myself sitting here reading and typing away...🙂🙂

I second that.🙂

The comments from people are what get to me... My neighbor asked me today how I was doing and if everything was fine. When I told her things were okay, she snapped back with: "An acquaintance, another acquaintance, another acquaintance... they all said everything was perfect too, right up until the next day when they started bleeding and had a miscarriage." It made my blood boil...🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Dana Brown8 said:Good for you. How did she react? 😁

By the way, regarding Gastal and heartburn—it seems I have some incredibly resilient acid reflux because nothing helped me during my first pregnancy, either. Back then, the heartburn vanished the exact moment I gave birth. I suffered through it starting around week 20.
I really thought I might be spared this time around.

I didn't exactly yell at her (at least not out loud 🤣)... I just told her she should find someone who isn't carrying a ten-pound baby... She just shrugged and turned away ☕

I've become generally bitter and intolerant lately. It seems everyone only thinks about themselves 🤷... it's irritating 🙂

Even today, an old lady in the elevator asked why I wasn't on medical leave... I told her it's because I'm pregnant, not sick... Everyone is just getting on my nerves with all these stupid suggestions... 😠

I don't have heartburn this time. During my last pregnancy, I ended up in the ER twice. They told me Rennie was my only option, which obviously didn't work... no Gastal or Pepcid... 😠 ... turns out the cause was H. pylori... which I don't have anymore. I only had it during the pregnancy... tested positive after, and it's gone now. 🤷
copperheron18 said:I rely on Gastall for just about everything—the burning sensation, the acid reflux, that bitter taste lingering in my mouth. It’s all quite unpleasant, and when those symptoms hit, they trigger a wave of nausea that honestly feels even more intense than early pregnancy morning sickness.
It seems to me that both Renny and Rupurt operate with a somewhat similar level of efficacy; ultimately, it just comes down to personal preference. Since they are considered safe for use during pregnancy, there is really no need to worry or endure any unnecessary discomfort. 😉

My doctor actually told me to stop taking Gastal.🤷
Then today, some old lady on the bus told me she couldn't stand up and basically demanded I move... "Ma'am, please get up, I can't stay standing." I practically sent her back to the Midwest...☕ 🙂
Arthur Thompson11 said:🤣 They can take those opinions and throw them in the trash along with my patience. We'll dig them up in five or six years once the kids are grown... Good grief, the stupidity of some questions!
Did I mention how much my mother-in-law irritates me? 😬

I actually found that answer myself back when I was pregnant for the first time... 🤣🤣I said I’d make some homemade chili, and suddenly I’m already reaching for a warm blanket... 🤣 Most people just gave me that weird look and decided to drop it... ☕

That’s not a bad idea... though my place would definitely need a bigger walk-in cooler... 😍
