Is this a normal reaction or what? in Psychology ·
Honestly, that’s just the inevitable fallout when you try to maintain a friendship that doesn't actually have a foundation... If someone lacks basic respect for you, they shouldn't have a seat at your table, regardless of how intertwined your histories are or how often you run into them.
He was likely banking on the fact that you'd just swallow his nonsense—especially since you stayed civil despite your differences—and he clearly took that as an invitation to keep dumping his garbage on you.

A ridiculous character, really... reminds me of my ex who used to pull similar stunts... "One day you'll realize nobody will ever love you quite like I did."😂

Do any of you know where I can pick up some sturdy trays with clear lids? Also, where’s the best spot to find decent deals on cookie boxes?

We picked some up at Metro for my sister's wedding. They didn't break the bank, though I can't recall the exact price point off the top of my head.

Orlandica - look, don't get worked up. My experience has been completely different from yours. For me, the dessert spread is a massive deal. Whenever my friends or acquaintances talk about a wedding, the sweets are always part of the conversation. We always send boxes home—to neighbors, friends from the office, people who weren't even at the ceremony. That’s just how I roll, and I’d easily put it in my top five wedding essentials. Of course, saying it's the *most* important thing would be an exaggeration, but I used that for dramatic effect 😁

What really sticks in my craw, though, is this constant complaining from people saying the desserts were mediocre or just "not their thing," yet they still refuse to pay for them. It makes you wonder... maybe the reason the sweets don't leave a lasting impression on the guests, or why they aren't being eaten, is precisely because they simply weren't any good 🤷

I am well aware that wedding expenses can spiral out of control, but ladies, please—do not skimp on the dessert table. I truly believe that is what guests care about most. When you consider the exorbitant fees for a videographer and their entire crew, you'll see that hiring a pastry chef is actually quite reasonable by comparison. You simply cannot find high-quality sweets for pennies on the dollar. The truly exquisite treats involve chocolate, walnuts, or hazelnuts... and those ingredients aren't cheap. It is easy enough to whip up some mediocre cookies for $17/lb, but let’s be honest: those usually taste identical, varying only in shape or perhaps a splash of artificial coloring and extract.
I personally baked the desserts for my sister's wedding—about 65 pounds worth—so I know firsthand the sheer amount of labor required to produce something genuinely delicious and visually appealing. There is a world of difference in a decadent chocolate fudge brownie versus something mass-produced, or peach cobbler infused with real bourbon rather than cheap flavoring.
