Jeremy Morris2 said:Listen, those comments from others are just plain stupid, but now that I'm nearing the end of this pregnancy, I find myself constantly wondering how women who already have a little one at home manage to pull it all off while constantly chasing them around and looking after them 😲 seriously, massive props to all you repeat moms out there 😍
I’m actually 27 weeks along right now and honestly, I’m doing fine, though there's still a ways to go😉 I keep telling myself I’ll feel just like I did during my first pregnancy when I felt totally amazing. I didn't deal with any swelling back then, and since I gave birth in the middle of summer, I was active right up until the delivery. I actually went out for coffee with my godmother in the city when the contractions started, but I didn't want to say anything because she is such a massive panic attack waiting to happen. The only thing is, the weight seems to be creeping on a bit faster this time🙂 Other than that, my daughter is an absolute joy. No matter how demanding she was as a baby, she’s just wonderful now
On topic...dealing with kids in the car is basically a constant battle I've had with my mother-in-law since my first pregnancy. My girl used to scream her head off in the car because she felt like I was "torturing" her by putting her in the car seat instead of just holding her in my lap. Her brothers were always held in laps, so later on, they could just lie back and sleep peacefully in the car without it being a traumatic experience
It honestly drives me up the wall when people won't stop asking if I’m struggling, if it’s too much, or if I’m just completely exhausted... especially since I have a 19-month-old at home and some people seem to think I’ve lost my mind for getting pregnant again so soon. When I tell them everything is fine—thankfully, because I actually feel great—they still give me this look of pure disbelief. It’s particularly annoying with my colleagues at Goldman Sachs; they’re all such high-powered career women who either don't have kids or only have one. One of them even had the nerve to ask if it was even healthy to get pregnant again so shortly after giving birth. For what it's worth, I actually conceived my daughter when she was 14 months old, so this isn't even my first time doing this
Jeremy Morris2 said:Ugh, so my mom 🙄 is basically asking how we're supposed to put a newborn in a car seat when she used to just carry us in those little infant pillows when leaving the hospital. And when it's the grandmother of your baby telling you this—someone who's going to be watching them and responsible for them most of the time—you can't just brush it off, right? 😲
I don't think you're wrong at all—some days I think to myself that it would be totally fine to lend out stuff that's brand new—like, unused items from my daughter—but once I realize I'm passing on things that my own little girl actually wore and filled with that sweet baby smell, well, I just can't do it. 🤣 Lester, am I crazy? 🤷
Look, isn't it kind of your own fault that you're pregnant, though? It's almost like that attitude of "well, I did it, so now I'll just sit here, blame's on someone else." It sounds super primitive, but man, how many times have I heard that exact thing while riding the subway or buses in NYC... 😢 🙄
The other day, some self-righteous mom at the American Red Cross asked me to stand up for her daughter, who was struggling to stand because she’s morbidly obese (literally, BMI > 40). I'm sitting there 33 weeks pregnant, she's overweight, and she's trying to lecture me about how hard it is for her little girl... 🙂
It looks like we're actually talking about the same thing now😉
Jacob Phillips4 said:On topic: the complete lack of courtesy toward pregnant women. It seems nobody here bothers to offer up a seat, even when someone is sitting in a designated priority spot clearly marked for expectant mothers. Honestly, I find the elderly to be the most difficult demographic—you see them everywhere, especially when you’re stuck in a massive queue at a clinic during the winter flu season. I rarely dare to say anything to them, though if I did, I’d likely be torn to shreds regardless. Just the other day, I was losing my mind waiting at a small Verizon store to finish some business for my partner; if it hadn't been for him, I would have walked out. There were always about five people hovering there, and naturally, since filling out one standard service contract takes forty-five minutes, they managed to form a massive line. Of course, the entire shop only has one single chair. Everyone in that room took turns occupying that one seat, staring at me like I was some sort of alien specimen, yet not a single soul thought to offer it to me. One would think that before taking a seat themselves, they might glance around to see if anyone else in the room actually has priority. I felt physically ill from being in such a cramped space with so many people crowded in; I had to step outside for air several times just to cope. Eventually, I reached my breaking point when some girl in her early twenties wandered in, and I finally asked her if she could let me sit down. She stood up, thankfully. But it is undeniably worse here than even in New York City... there is absolutely no culture of yielding your seat to pregnant women.
I realize this is trivial and that this topic is a constant fixture on this board, but I simply had to vent...
I think it's okay to share an anecdote about people not standing up for pregnant women that I experienced during my first pregnancy. Now that I'm pregnant again, I feel like I should retell it.🙂 I'm sitting on the bus quite late in my pregnancy, and this elderly gentleman gets on and comes straight to me, expecting me to stand up so he can sit because seniors are supposed to get priority on the bus. I told him he should ask someone else because I'm pregnant and I also have the right to be seated. To that, he basically told me it wasn't his fault that he was old, but that it was my own fault for being pregnant, and therefore I should be the one to stand up for him.☕

It really bugs me when everyone sees me and then, after I tell them I'm only two months away from giving birth, they give me this totally stunned look... As if! Like, yeah, obviously my bump is small...🙂 which it definitely isn't.
Sandra Ross86 said:Lately, I have been feeling quite frustrated by certain social behaviors. For now, I will focus on the passengers on city buses and subways; even in the middle of July, hardly anyone seems to care about those in need. Yet, the moment an elderly man boards, everyone suddenly stands up. Despite some lady recently lecturing everyone about giving up seats for pregnant women, mothers with disabled children, or the elderly, nothing really changes. It is not as if I am walking around specifically monitoring who chooses to stand, but it would be wonderful to see someone show a modicum of basic courtesy just once. Perhaps they wouldn't even stay seated for more than a few stops, but it would at least demonstrate a sense of decency.
Let me share my own recent experience on the bus with you. I hopped onto a half-empty bus and found a seat, but after a few minutes, it started filling up mostly with older folks. This one elderly gentleman sitting across from me looks at me and goes, "Ma'am, we ought to give up our seats to those older than ourselves." (I'm almost seven months pregnant, and there was this same lady on the bus earlier lecturing everyone about seating priority for pregnant women, seniors, and all that...). So, I told him, "Pregnant women, just like seniors, have every right to a seat on the bus," and he actually looked me in the eye and said, "It's not my fault I'm old, but it is your own fault that you're pregnant." I was just speechless...😲😲😲
Alright, let’s talk about mothers-in-law! My husband and I went to our ultrasound yesterday and finally found out we’re having a girl! 😍 We are absolutely over the moon, though honestly, we would have been just as thrilled if it were a boy. The thing is, my mother-in-law has been dead set on us having sons since the moment we met—as if gender is some sort of family trait passed down through generations or something... So, my husband calls her up yesterday to share the news and tell her we finally know the sex, and she just shoots back, "A boy, right? I knew it was going to be a boy!" When he tells her, no, it's actually a girl, she just goes, "No way, impossible." 🙂 I was losing my mind, but luckily he stepped up and set her straight. She ended up calling us several times afterward, and even called my mom just to say how overjoyed she is that we're getting a little girl. Usually, she's such a sweetheart, but I think she was just so stunned that her "prediction" was wrong that she kind of snapped, which sent me into a bit of a tizzy myself...🙂
Regarding my girlfriends and how they’ve been handling my pregnancy, I have to say that my closest friends were absolutely thrilled when I shared the news, and they are genuinely happy for me. That said, I don't exactly expect them to grill me constantly about how the baby is doing or if I can feel any movement or other tiny details. When we catch up over coffee or on the phone, they always check in on how I'm feeling, I give them a quick update, and then we move on to everything else—love lives, work, weekend plans, you name it. Just because I’m pregnant doesn't mean I've lost interest in the rest of the world... I really believe that anything taken to an extreme is a bit much. Back when I wasn't even thinking about kids, I wouldn't have wanted to sit through endless conversations centered solely around pregnancy and babies. Now, it’s just as annoying when people hear the news and immediately jump to talking about labor pains, childbirth, breast changes, or hemorrhoids...🙂 Honestly, just let me enjoy this phase and discover the "joys" of pregnancy at my own pace. If there's something I actually want to ask my inner circle or you ladies here on the forum, I definitely will!🙂
Nicole Kim11 said:😲 Poor animal... so what, is she planning on raising this kid under a literal glass bell jar?
We have a dog too. Sleeps in the bed with us, everything... and the idea of getting rid of them doesn't even occur to me. It honestly irritates me when people ask, "Oh, so what are you going to do with the dog now?" or "Where are you going to keep it?"... as if it's some kind of burden. 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
edit: Just caught the previous post. Just to be clear, I didn't take that comment personally—there's nothing wrong with my pregnancy just because I haven't been sick. She was simply relaying what her OB-GYN told her about what typically happens to women dealing with morning sickness. It doesn't mean—and she never explicitly stated—that women who aren't vomiting are somehow having an unhealthy pregnancy...
Of course she didn't say that not vomiting means something is wrong🙂 I just wanted to emphasize that if someone isn't experiencing nausea and vomiting, that is perfectly fine too. I'm speaking from my own experience, because during those first few weeks, I was actually worried because I wasn't feeling sick, especially after reading all these stories about how everyone else was dealing with morning sickness. I even reached out to a girl on this forum just to find some comfort and make sure it was okay. Now that things have settled down and the baby is doing great, I felt the need to mention this for any other women out there who might be worrying the same way I was about a month ago...😉
hiddenscout362 said:Trust me, it’s actually a sign that everything is going exactly as it should. I never quite understood that theory myself, though, because what about all those other pregnant women who don't deal with nausea at all? Every OB-GYN I've ever talked to has told me the same thing—morning sickness is basically just a sign of a healthy pregnancy. 😍
They usually say it starts tapering off after the first trimester, around week 12, but I’m already at week 13 and I’m still feeling it
I’m really hoping it lets up soon...
Cigarette, just because you're dealing with morning sickness doesn't mean it's the only way to know things are going right—pregnancy can be perfectly healthy without all that nausea. I’m actually 14 weeks along myself, and honestly, I haven't thrown up once. I had a tiny bit of queasiness, but it was barely noticeable and passed so quickly... and my baby is doing absolutely wonderful and hitting every milestone perfectly. I’ve noticed you mentioning a few times that nausea is like a built-in formula for a healthy pregnancy, but I really believe your little one is doing just fine too...🙂🙂I’m actually writing this specifically for all those women out there who aren't experiencing any morning sickness—because trust me, plenty of you aren't. I know how much it can weigh on you, and I see so many moms-to-be feeling this intense anxiety or worrying that something might be wrong just because they don't feel nauseous... It’s so easy to spiral into those fears about the pregnancy when your experience doesn't match what everyone else is talking about, but please know that not feeling sick doesn't mean anything is amiss...☕
I’ve had dogs my entire life, and the thought of just ignoring one simply because I’m pregnant never even crosses my mind. Honestly, I actually know a woman right now who is giving her dog away because she found out she’s expecting—she’s convinced having a pet around is too risky for the baby...🙂🙂🙂

A few weeks back, I started reaching out to local bakeries, sending over photos of the cake designs I'm looking for to see who could actually give me a decent quote. The most affordable option was Mars, Inc.; they’re reliable too, since we’ve been ordering their treats for years. We’ll likely go with a few different parfait flavors—they were kind enough to let us sample almost everything during our meeting. I remember reading on a forum ages ago that their chilled parfait is basically like ice cream, which works perfectly because nobody would agree to make the specific ice cream cake I had in mind. So, the parfait it is. I'm also weighing the mousse option; their stuff is honestly incredible. 😍
The price for cupcakes is $5.00/each, or $10/each for the diabetic version.
We'll grab the other desserts from either Musk ($20/lb) or Absalom ($18/lb) over in Columbus, though I'm not sure if they offer diabetic-friendly options.
Side note: when is your wedding?
Our wedding cake was actually from Mars, Inc.—it was a chocolate trifle, served chilled. Personally, I thought it was even better than the parfait, more like a rich mousse. I'd highly recommend giving it a try. Even six months after the wedding, my friends are still raving about how amazing that cake was!😉
William Parker61 said:Hey everyone, I stopped by Sugar Land yesterday and tried their chocolate cake—it was absolutely divine! Honestly, I’d want it served at my wedding, but a single slice is only $5.00! I'm torn, though; I feel like I've already overindulged in too many things lately, and the expenses are just starting to pile up 🙂))
Are you thinking of "four colors of chocolate"? 🙂Sugar Land is right in my neighborhood, so I've tasted pretty much everything they make, and I actually had their pastries at my wedding. They’re definitely on the pricier side, but oh man, they are delicious... worth considering ☕
Daniel Smith8 said:Why is everyone hunting for cheap sweets while ignoring my recommendation for Microsoft and Accenture bakeries in Sacramento? They charge anywhere from $55 to $20 per pound, yet the pastries are actually decent. 😬 I sampled them at trade shows once. My godmother served Microsoft treats at her wedding, and I ended up picking up some from Accenture myself.
Look, you shared your recommendation, and that's all you can do. People will either take your advice or ignore it, so there's really no point in stressing over it.🙂 Personally, I haven't had a chance to try anything from Mus, but I did try Absum before my own wedding, and to be honest, I wasn't a huge fan... but hey, everyone has different tastes, right?😉
Hey everyone! I’m still on the hunt for some great dessert options—and honestly, trying to find stuff that doesn't break the bank is becoming an absolute mission! It feels almost impossible lately! 😠 So, the standard rule of thumb is supposed to be about 10 ounces of cake per person, but every single catering company or restaurant I've talked to regarding wedding planning keeps insisting that 5 ounces is plenty! 👍
I think 15 ounces per person should be more than enough for the desserts, especially when you factor in all the other food and cake that'll be served. I actually made that much last time and still had some sweets left over—they were absolutely delicious, by the way, from Sugar Land—but honestly, with everything else on the table, people just didn't get a chance to dive into them...🙂
While I was picking out the sweets for my wedding, I decided to sample both IBM and a local bakery, but honestly, they were just okay—nothing to write home about. For me, nothing beats the treats from Sugar Land; I ended up ordering from them for the big day and was absolutely thrilled with the results. The price is $37/lb, which isn't exactly cheap, but since I wasn't planning a massive blowout, it worked out perfectly for us. If I had to do it all over again, I’d definitely go with them...
We picked up some cookies from Hershey's and they were absolutely delicious👍 We also grabbed a cake from Mars, Inc. via Kraft Heinz—it was stunning and tasted incredible! Our guests absolutely loved it; there was hardly a slice left by the end of the night👍
