They finally got back to me with the quote today. It’s for a four-tier round cake—tall, elegant tiers, not those short, squat ones that look like they're about to collapse. 😂Capacity for 140 people. $500 If it’s topped with frosting, it’s $20. If there's marzipan involved? Then it's $20. I don't need to look any further—sold. 😉 They went through my "no" list and suggested flavors based on exactly what I hate—no walnuts, no margarine, nothing overly sweet, and nothing too heavy on the biscuit base. I can’t recall the specific combinations they proposed right now, but honestly, their intuition was spot on. They managed to pull off some pretty impressive pairings.

Around here, people don't even bother bringing individual cups. Like, nobody brings water for anyone, but everyone's got plenty of whiskey to go around. It’s kind of the whole vibe—the entire wedding party sharing from one single bottle.
It isn't exactly hygienic, I guess, but what can you do? 🤣
I wouldn't mind a bottle making its rounds... high-proof bourbon disinfects the throat; there's nothing to fear. 😁
It’s an interesting tradition, I suppose (though I wouldn't call myself a traditionalist, nor am I from the Midwest)... back home, we tend to do the exact opposite. You show up with an invitation, and then you just drink whatever they happen to have in the house 😂... which isn't exactly the ideal setup. We spent the last ten days handing out invitations—over 100 houses, 100 different types of drinks—and the result? A massive headache.
I hope nobody minds me jumping into this thread; I actually read through it all just to get a sense of how weddings work in the Midwest!
That’s what I was told, too. A maximum of four flavors, and when I asked about the guest count, the woman said it was for roughly 40 people. I even asked if I could expand the selection, but she just insisted these were their standard cake tasting sets... which is a shame, because their cakes are actually quite good. I haven't stopped by Zenith yet. Where exactly are they located? And how are their cakes?
Does anyone have recommendations for a bakery in Los Angeles that can handle a large, multi-tiered wedding cake? I'm looking for something that won't rely on plastic tiers or supports for about a hundred guests. I checked in with Magnolia Bakery, but they told me their tiered cakes top out at maybe 40 people. I’m really looking for one massive, cohesive centerpiece rather than one large cake surrounded by ten tiny ones...
They host all sorts of events, from weddings to corporate retreats. You can just grab their number from the website if you want to reach out. The only other spot that comes to mind is Frapa Marina in Annapolis... though I have to admit, the interior isn't quite as striking as Sky, but that massive terrace with the pool really makes it 😉...
EDIT: By the time I finished typing this, you had already figured it all out! You're quick..
Before I lose my mind, will a 12.5x12.5x9cm box actually hold 25 ounces of cookies? And honestly, how many cookies does anyone typically cram into these things? This is the box I'm looking at, and now I’m starting to think I should have just gone for a larger size.
I can give you my two cents based on what we went through... about a year and two months before our wedding, we locked in the Grand Hyatt and the Viva group. We booked everything roughly 11 months out. Since we moved so early, we didn't run into any issues with availability, but I know from experience that if you wait too long, your options shrink drastically. My advice? Get moving.
Sounds promising. My mom let me know—since I'm not living in San Francisco—that she spoke with the owner and they’ve reached a rough agreement. I'll be heading out there next month to hammer out all the specifics in person. Thanks for the info.

belica thanks 😁 what’s actually the best move here? I went through the whole thread—well, skimmed quite a few pages—but maybe that’s why I missed the point about the photos being a mistake 🤷
Paul Morales12 said:So, when is the wedding date? If none of the other girls end up sending you any photos, please let me know! I could actually swing by the venue and snap some pictures for you myself—I live pretty close by
Thanks so much, but I already reached out to the manager at the venue—she emailed me every single detail, from the wall colors to the flooring and the curtains, so everything is handled. Besides, I’ve already found a "victim" willing to go over there and snap some pictures for me. I guess I was just being impatient; I wanted to see what the place actually looks like as soon as possible if anyone had photos lying around...
