Think 🙂
Mine doesn't bother me much, though she’s definitely an outlier.
Every single time we leave an appointment, she demands to see the ultrasound images and then spends hours complaining about nothing. 😂
I usually have to grab a Xanax just to keep my cool before we even walk out the door. 🙂
I’m officially joining the club of people who hate being touched on the stomach. 🙂 My midsection seems to act like a magnet for everyone, whether I know them or not.
I’ve been driving since day one, and here I am, seven months into this pregnancy. Sure, there were those early days when the morning sickness made it impossible, and now I deal with the occasional backache or those sudden, intense contractions that force me to pull over. But generally? I'm fine to get behind the wheel. What really gets under my skin, though, are the self-appointed experts—those neighborhood busybodies who act like they have a PhD in obstetrics. Honestly, why am I even paying a specialist when these women think they know everything anyway?
It’s incredibly grating when people make their very first question—and often their only one—about my weight. "How many pounds did you gain?" or even worse, some distant relative asking, "Wow, you've really put on some weight." Honestly, I wanted to snap at them, but I kept it polite. Then there was that comment about waiting until the baby "comes to life." As if I needed to explain that the baby was perfectly fine long before that. There were so many mindless comments like that.

I know two people who saw Volar play, and they couldn't stop raving about them. I haven't caught a live set myself, but if these two are any indication, the band is the real deal.

aurorice, this cake is 😲 😲 🙏 🙏 way too much.

Honestly, my mouth is watering just reading this. I can't even decide which slice to grab first—I’d probably just take all three. That’s the problem. Usually, at weddings, I won't touch the dessert table, but when someone hits the mark like this, I'm looking for seconds or quietly swiping a portion from someone else (usually my husband). Major props to the baker for this cake selection 👍

Why does this look so familiar? I must have scrolled past your photos or 🤷. The cake is the giveaway. You must be a pro soccer player, 😉

That’s usually how it goes. I prefer sticking to actual meals myself; maybe a little something sweet here and there, but a slice of cake in the middle of the night is more than enough.

It was the same at my place—one large round table, maybe 9 to 11 guests. From my side of the family, they barely touched the desserts, but his relatives from the Midwest absolutely cleared the table. There aren't any real rules, though. Sometimes I won't even touch a single sweet, and then at a wedding or two, I've practically polished off an entire tray by myself. My blood sugar took quite a hit 😁

Arthur Thompson11, if your mother and mother-in-law are insisting on an excessive amount of dessert and paying for it themselves, why bother stressing? I dealt with something similar. I wanted a few treats, but they pushed for much more—not quite at your scale, but certainly more than I had envisioned—just to have enough for the day after the wedding and to hand out to neighbors, the neighbor’s neighbor, some distant cousin, and so on. Since my husband and I were essentially funding the wedding ourselves, I simply told them they could order as much as they wanted, provided they covered the bill. And that was that. I handled the cakes and the main wedding cake at the venue, while they took charge of this mountain of sweets meant for gifting. In the end, nothing was left over. We handed them out until the last crumb was gone. Honestly, if those two didn't view it as throwing their money away, I wasn't going to lose sleep over it either.

Fresh flowers, without question... they have a level of sophistication that marzipan flowers just can't touch visually. I actually intended to have live orchids on my cake—no toppers, no edible spray, just natural beauty—but a breakdown in communication left me with marzipan orchids instead 😢. Honestly, the only reason it wasn't a total disaster was because the cake itself tasted incredible and nobody bothered poking around with edible sprays, otherwise 🙂

The pastries sat out on the tables all night long, and the coffee kept flowing until morning.

Regarding Beyoncé, I have to admit I’m feeling a little skeptical. I’m pretty sure there are plenty of bands out there that rock way harder than they do... 😉

On another note—about the photographer. Does anyone on here know if that talented guy Siniša Srdanović has any work I could actually look at? I’ve read some really kind words about him here, but I can't seem to find a website, and his Facebook page only has about two photos posted, so...

I can agree with this. Our main issue was organizing a wedding in California while living in New York, so we didn't have much time to hunt for the right band. But regardless... my husband used to play weddings for much lower rates and did a fantastic job, so if you actually have the time and the drive, I believe you can find a decent band at a reasonable price. Good luck. 😉

I’m with rustywalker34 on this one... we went with Beyoncé, and honestly, I don't think we could have made a better choice. My husband is a musician (now retired 😉), so his take on how Beyoncé stacks up against the other bands we considered is pretty critical and professionally grounded. For the most part, though, he was more than happy; he had no complaints. So, my vote and a definite thumbs up go to Beyoncé
The price was $2,500. We put down a deposit a year ago and just had the big day recently. I'm not sure if their rates have shifted since then, but you can find their tour schedule on their website... they tend to book up quite far in advance, so if you're leaning toward them, it wouldn't hurt to reach out as soon as possible

As for photo and video, we hired Studioin... those guys are great and did an incredible job. I'm still waiting on the final shots and footage. We opted for a mid-range package at $1,200, plus some albums for the parents and a few extras... totaling about $1,400. We also looked into hiring Fox, but they were already booked

You can pick up those chocolate pieces anywhere, even if they aren't actually any good. Personally, I find them far too bitter... I'm fairly certain you'd have a much better experience with something handmade...

As for me, I’ll pass... looks like I’m headed for a rough time. Besides, what exactly is in that chocolate cup? And where were you planning on putting it? At home, or just kidding?

The boxes look solid—simple design, but they seem sturdy and well-made. And yes, swing by this Saturday. Just make sure to give me a heads-up so we can actually meet and grab a drink. 🙂

It won’t fall apart... I actually used one of the boxes to test just how much weight those cookies could handle while I was lugging them around... it held up... barely. There isn't any actual excitement left, just pure adrenaline at this point... and you're getting pretty close too, aren't you? We've drifted off-topic, but I'd estimate the doctor will be in the hall around 7:30. Maybe grab a few appetizers while the guests settle in, then we can kick off the main event at 8:00.

I immediately checked out that website and sent a message to my friend over in Chicago to head over there and grab some boxes for me—though, in hindsight, I definitely should have picked up the larger ones
Thanks so much for the inspiration and the link!

😉 We ended up with the same ones. After I bought those smaller versions, I realized they were just too tiny, so I went back to swap them for something larger. These are exactly the right size. 👍
