It isn't even about the wait itself, I don't mind standing around for a bit, but with this heatwave? And the lines? My blood pressure is already bottomed out... honestly, at this rate, I’ll just cut right through the crowd and take the first spot available 🙂
Oh yeah, and my blood pressure has been bottomed out the entire pregnancy too. At least now I'm not totally nauseous from coffee anymore, so maybe I can actually get it up a tiny bit.
Honestly, I’ve never had anyone cut in line at any shop I go to. Especially not at Gap Inc., where I’ve been like five or six times just in the last few months. Last time, I actually stepped aside to let this dad with his little girl through—she was squirming like crazy, probably about to have an accident right there in her pants 😂
It feels like everyone’s just become so incredibly self-absorbed lately that they don't even notice anyone else exists, let alone care. I mean, seriously, you can't exactly miss me—I'm nearly 39 weeks pregnant...

It's good to see someone else feels this way. Even though I won't agree with my mom or my mother-in-law on everything, I still give them a chance to speak, and then I just calmly explain my side of things.
Preach.
Man, reading all this just makes me feel kind of bummed out. My mother-in-law is actually incredibly sweet to me. Look, obviously we all have our own partners and lives, but we always manage to talk things through—it's never a huge drama—and she’s always there when we need an extra hand or some advice. It's the same deal with my mom, too. She basically told me she isn't trying to play God or micromanage our lives; she gets that times change, and the old-school ways they used to do things just don't fly anymore. She said she'll follow our lead on how we want to handle things.
I've actually realized that whenever they try to poke their noses into our business—even in the smallest way—we just shut it down calmly and give them a solid reason why. Since we actually respect each other, there's never any real blowback or fighting.

It drives me nuts when I answer a question about what we're naming the baby (and let's face it, I'll be sick of that question soon enough 😁), only to get a reaction like, "Oh my god, nooo, that was the name of some girl in my middle school who always had a runny nose!" Seriously, who cares about their random childhood memories when it comes to picking a name?!
Big thanks to everyone for all the "constructive" advice you're so generously showering on a poor soul like me who clearly hasn't a clue. 🙄
😂
There’s this one thing that always cracks me up—not that it actually bugs me or anything—but it’s hilarious how people constantly try to guess if I'm wearing eyeliner. It’s like a weird little game they play, except everyone comes up with a totally different reason why they think I am. One lady told me I was definitely rocking liner because I wear my hair low, then literally the next day, someone else swears I’m wearing it because I wear my hair high. Like, okay, thanks for the input, I guess? So, what do you think, 🤣
I honestly don't get why some people just feel the need to stick their noses into everything. I met this girl recently who had her baby at Mayo Clinic, and the second she heard I was heading there too, she started lecturing me—even though I didn't ask for a single bit of advice—about how "rooming-in" is totally gross and how there's no point being attached to the kid 24/7 since I'll be seeing them for the rest of my life anyway... Like, seriously? What am I even supposed to say to that? I just laughed, because honestly, what else is there to 🤷

Oh please, I know exactly how that 😂

Ontopic: I’m usually an absolute wreck—constantly on edge and high-strung—but pregnancy was different; I felt completely unshakable.
👍
Every time I mention which hospital I'm using for delivery, people start rolling their eyes because of the whole "rooming-in" thing. I don't get why everyone assumes we all feel the same way about having the baby in the room with us constantly—personally, I actually see some perks there—and honestly, why does it even matter where I choose to give birth? It's my life, and I've got the right to have my own experience, whatever that ends up looking like. If God wills it, maybe it'll even be a good one.

Where would I go by myself? I can't just wander around town—it's not like I have wings, right?
And don't even get me started on cleaning, or 😳
🤣 Honestly, most of us are probably looking at the same mess right before the deadline hits
It honestly drives me nuts how everyone just fixates on all the nightmare scenarios once you have a kid. It’s like nobody ever mentions the actual good stuff—the joy, the magic, any of it. Instead, it's just a non-stop lecture about how we won't sleep, how we'll lose our social lives, or how our sex life is basically going to be dead in the water... I mean, look, 🙂 obviously things aren't going to stay exactly the same as they were before, but I'm actually genuinely stoked for this whole parenting thing and can't wait for the big day to finally get here.
ruggedhound said:I’ve always thought commenting on what people name their kids was pretty stupid. At the end of the day, it’s the parents' call, and as long as they love it, who cares what the neighbors think? 🤷
But since everyone seems obsessed with sticking their noses where they don't belong lately, I guess I have to weigh in. 🙂
When we were picking names, our family didn't say a word or try to push their own ideas on us—they knew better than to mess with our decisions. 😁
😁 sounds like you managed to train them early on. Honestly, I've been trying to do the same lately. It's actually kind of hilarious watching people lose it when they realize things don't work the way they used to.
Honestly, the whole "family values" crowd drives me absolutely nuts with their constant moral policing. Look, I’ve got nothing against people—it’s totally fine if someone wants to politely suggest a name they actually like, no biggie—but the second someone starts scowling, throwing tantrums, or heaven forbid, trying to dictate what everyone else has to do? That’s just twisted. It’s not even like our suggestion was anything weird or out there... it was just a seriously normal, standard name.
I’m totally feeling this, honestly, but here's the catch—that cake in the photo looks pretty small, right? If we tried to scale it up for a bigger crowd, just imagine how massive those slices would end up being... (the restaurant owner actually pointed that out to me, which I hadn't even considered, oops...) Anyway, I really hope we can pull off something similar to this because I am absolutely obsessed with it...
I’m thinking this is basically what our cake is gonna look like 😁
