Even in my circle, most people asking about it don't even have a clue when it actually happens—they just know it’s sometime late January and leave it at that. Maybe ten people total actually know the specific date, and that's just my immediate family and a few close friends or best men.

My family calls incessantly, and even the neighbors are asking when I plan to deliver.
I have 25 days left. At this rate, I'll be ignoring my phone and avoiding the neighbors entirely.😵
Just four days left and I'm getting hit with like 100 messages a day asking "Is it happening yet?" or "When are you doing it?" or "Why hasn't the baby arrived?" It's driving me crazy. 🤦🤦🤦🤦
It just hit me!! The sheer nerve of everyone thinking they have the right to comment on whether my belly has dropped enough—basically if I’m "ready" to go into labor. They all take turns telling me "No way," even though I keep trying to explain that it *has* definitely shifted lower compared to how it was before. And then, because my due date is only four days away, they just stare at my stomach and try to second-guess my doctor! Like, "I don't know, I don't think your OBGYN is right... it looks like a boy to me." As if they have some kind of medical-grade ultrasound built into their eyes or something.
Look, I've always heard the horror stories about getting the gender wrong during pregnancy, but if my doctor has been telling me it's a boy at every single checkup since my fourth or fifth month, I'm going to trust the professional. I mean, the guy actually uses an ultrasound machine—he probably sees a hell of a lot more than some random person just glancing at my bump and guessing based on a vibe.

It’s always the same thing—everyone thinks they're some kind of genius, right? If I grab ten random people off the street in Chicago and ask them the exact same question, they’ll all swear they have the perfect answer, but you won't get two people saying the same thing!
But honestly? My favorite part is when I don't even *ask* for help, and they still start lecturing me like I'm clueless. Like, I'll be out driving somewhere and some lady's grandma friend pulls up next to me, starts interrogating me about everything under the sun, and then has the nerve to ask if my nipples are good enough for breastfeeding. Like, how am I supposed to know if they're "good"? What, you want me to pull one out right here on the highway so you can inspect it? 😁
It would be hilarious to see the look on her face if I just told her, "Here, take it and try nursing yourself"🤣🤣🤣
Sorry, that was a little gross. 🤣
So she spent every single weekend praying for a girl?!! And then her mother-in-law goes and cuts my 🤣
But honestly, at the end of the day, it all just comes down to that old saying about how everyone has their own way of doing things 🙂
Whenever something really gets under my skin—especially when people won't shut up—I think back to what my dad used to tell me. He’d say, "Look, honey, God gave you two ears for a reason: one to let stuff in and one to let it right back out." And it clearly works, because I can't remember a single time I saw my dad lose his cool over some idiot's nonsense 🙂
From the very start of my pregnancy, I was convinced I was having a boy—and yep, turns out my gut was right. But my fiancé’s reaction? He basically goes, "Well, at least it's a boy... girls just end up being too spoiled anyway." 🤦
What does he mean, "spoiled"? Is he planning on running a little patriarchy over there, or is he just a total chauvinist?
E, bravo Thomas Scott5, you hit the nail right on the head!! I am 100% with you on this one. 🙂
I never sleep on my stomach, but honestly, when I’m absolutely wiped, there is nothing better than just flopping face-down onto the bed 😁 Ugh, pure bliss—even if the actual feeling lasts maybe ten seconds before you shift again
p.s. I actually did this by accident the other day and my husband caught me mid-flop 🤣
And what really gets under my skin—ugh, seriously—is how I can listen to anyone’s advice, be perfectly polite and pleasant to everyone, but the second someone hits me with a "Just you wait..." it drives me absolutely insane
I actually got into a bit of a spat with my husband’s aunt because I told her straight up: the full shave is over. And what does she do? She tries to lecture me about how they used to shave everything back in the day 🤦—as if that matters! It doesn't prove a thing. To make matters worse, now my husband is acting like *I'm* the rude one and says I should have handled it "more gracefully"... give me a break. I'm the one who is pregnant RIGHT NOW, not twenty-five years ago. I've taken the classes, I've listened to modern moms and their advice, and I'm the one dealing with a total hormonal meltdown—so apparently, THAT means I'm supposed to just be "nicer" and shut up?!?! WTF?!?!
I reckon you can find that kind of stuff in any big-city grocery store—not sure where you’re based, but I’m talking about places like San Francisco—and it usually goes for around $15.
Betty Barrett70 and I are both eyeing those cake pops—where can I grab some and how much are we talking? Also, that cake looks killer. Can you tell me which two cakes were used to make that one combo deal? And yeah, obviously, hit me with the price too... thnx
Honestly, we were originally thinking about handing out cookies, but we bailed on that idea—mostly because Richard Williams11 made a great point. We actually tried it once and ended up tossing most of them; more than half the batch was always pretty much inedible and just plain gross. I even checked with my godmother and my best friend to see what they thought, and they both felt the exact same way. Plus, let’s be real, those cookies aren't cheap. We finally decided to just go with bottles of olive oil and bourbon instead—it's way more budget-friendly and, frankly, makes a much better impression.
