Wedding cakes and desserts in Weddings ·
Betty Barrett70 said:Someone actually asked me about this! 😁

The desserts were from Fancy Cakes in Garden Grove; someone already shared their Facebook link here.
My total dessert cost was $1.25 for 80 guests. That covers all the sweets. I didn't opt for a traditional wedding cake; instead, I had 5 or 6 standard cakes. A slice of cake was roughly $4.75 to $5.25 if I recall correctly. Mousse cups were about $4.00, cake pops were $4.00, pralines were around $1.75 each, and fruit baskets were $2.00... Don't hold me to the exact numbers, but that's a rough guide for you.
I chose about 4 or 5 different flavors of pralines.
I also had 2kg of dry cookies—sort of like biscuits covered in roasted hazelnuts with a strawberry filling. Those 1 kg portion cost $40 and weren't really a hit. People definitely preferred the creamy items.
I ended up with two whole cakes left over (one Black Forest and one Ferrero).
Regarding the cake pops mentioned earlier: they have a sponge base, dipped in Hershey's chocolate or another cream, and topped with hazelnuts or colorful sprinkles. The kids absolutely loved them.
The mousse cups disappeared first. The fruit cakes (I had strawberry and raspberry) were also popular.

I honestly have no idea what the standard budget is for "classic" desserts for 100 guests plus a wedding cake, or if my spending was high or typical. All I know is it was worth every penny. Even now, people tell me, "Oh man, those desserts at your wedding... they were so good!" They looked delicious enough to eat just by looking at them.

As for Fancy Cakes, I fell in love at first sight. Literally. As soon as I saw their treats online, I prayed to God that they tasted as good as they looked. I met the owner for a tasting and immediately thought, "This is it." I didn't look anywhere else. On the wedding day, they delivered everything right on time and set everything up on the dessert table. They even provided all the plates, which was such a relief since I didn't have to worry about a thing.

P.S. Regarding what someone else said about classic wedding desserts all tasting and smelling the same and just cluttering up the tables—I completely agree. Mind you, I've never been a huge fan of those kinds of sweets, so I might not be entirely objective.

Bless your heart! I was actually starting to get worried I’d never find out where you got the treats! 🙂
From the start of planning, I wasn't really feeling the massive dessert spread... I'd much rather pick a few high-quality items that fit the vibe than dump a ton of money into dry cookies that nobody eats.☕
Here’s a link to an American site if you want to check it out yourselves.

Someone very close to me went through this kind of therapy—saw some pretty massive improvements firsthand—so I’m a believer.
