Out here on the East Coast, I’ve lost count of how many times people have tried to cut in front of me at the checkout—specifically pregnant women rushing to jump ahead of me in line. Honestly, it’s become kind of hilarious. Sometimes I’ll make a little comment out loud, and they just turn their heads and ignore me, heh... The other day, this woman behind me actually asked her friend in line if she could skip ahead, completely ignoring everyone else standing between us. My logic? You should ask *everyone* ahead of you first. Back during my first pregnancy, some lady actually shoved me because she thought I was trying to cut! It sent my blood pressure through the roof and made my heart race. I felt terrible. I've decided I'm just not letting those kinds of people get to me anymore.
On the flip side, lately over on the West Coast, I’ve had cashiers call me up to an open register before anyone else. I was actually a little shocked...
And then they have the nerve to act offended because you didn't personally reach out to tell them you gave birth, and they won't even congratulate you on your first baby... My cousin did the exact same thing. He knew I was pregnant, and we were actually hanging out at his place just a week before my due date. Then he sees the announcement on Facebook, but nope—I never expected that kind of reaction from someone who’s trying to be a father.
🤣

Some woman from across the street keeps asking me—not just once, but twice now. I didn't want to raise my voice and make a scene for everyone to hear... so I just told her I’d take some vacation time first and then see about it... a diplomatic way to handle it ☕
Honestly, it’s more funny than frustrating at this point. People keep asking when I’m finally heading back to work after maternity leave, and instead of giving them the usual answer, I just want to tell them: "I'm actually starting a whole new maternity leave." I don't feel like explaining everything to every stranger who asks—like how I got pregnant again just five months after the first one, or how it wasn't even planned because my husband is constantly away on business trips... am I forgetting anything else? 🤣 And then there are those people who genuinely think my new bump is just leftover weight from the first pregnancy. 🙂
James Martinez3 said:This was actually a brilliant post, and I find myself agreeing with almost everything you said—you are absolutely spot on from the beginning right up until that part about breastfeeding.

This is my third pregnancy; I nursed my first two kids, and I fully expect to do the same with this one, so I'm not even questioning the concept itself. I truly believe that every parent needs to decide for themselves how long to nurse, since there are so many different factors involved in that decision. For instance, I’ve decided that a year is the sweet spot for me. And I would never dream of judging a friend who had to go back to her job at a local firm when her baby was only three months old, acting like she was some kind of villain for stopping early. She did what she had to do for very practical, objective reasons.

However, what you're claiming isn't an objective fact, nor is it true. If someone had tried to tell me that was the reason, I definitely would have pushed back, because that information is just plain wrong.

Breast milk doesn't lose its properties after six months, and I honestly have no idea where you picked up such misinformation. As for calling it "perverse"—well, you might change your tune once your little one hits six months and you realize how tiny they still are and how much they rely on you. Maybe hold off on those kinds of statements until then. At six months, a baby is still heavily dependent on milk for nutrition, especially if they struggle with solids or deal with allergies. For example, how was I supposed to explain to my five-month-old son that he was being "perverse" because he refused broccoli or apples and kept spitting them out? He wasn't ready; he’d push the spoon away, spit everything out, and end up vomiting whatever little bit he managed to swallow. So, I just continued nursing him almost exclusively for another two months while slowly introducing different foods. During that time, he gradually started accepting more variety, and as his appetite grew, we tapered off the nursing until we were completely finished by his first birthday. Besides, you can't just stop nursing overnight without dealing with physical discomfort and issues with your breasts. And if you think starting solids at two months is a good way to avoid your perceived "perversion," you might want to do a bit more research into how hard that is on a tiny infant's digestive system.

And yeah, I know I’m probably annoying you right now because I fall into that category of "pregnant women who are just going through the motions regarding breastfeeding." But my main point is that despite everything else you mentioned—which I agree with—what really gets under my skin are the first-time moms or women who haven't actually nursed, yet feel qualified to lecture everyone else about it when they don't have any real-world experience.🙂

I'm with you on the breastfeeding stuff, and I'm with Nukle on the rest.🙂
As a first-time mom currently pregnant, I honestly knew nothing about breastfeeding and dealt with plenty of bad advice from people around me. Now, I'm just hoping everything goes smoothly with nursing.😉
Dana Martin87 said:Moms obsessed with strollers. I had no idea this phenomenon even existed until I got pregnant myself. Everyone tries to convince you that a stroller without a bassinet is a terrible choice—even people like me who think a bassinet is just consumerist greed, a gimmick, and total nonsense. Until now, I only knew about guys who obsess over cars; now I’ve realized there are groups of women who obsess over strollers in the exact same way.
God, I was reading a Chicago forum where some expectant mom says she wants to buy a Stokke stroller, and another woman responds, totally dead serious, "Why would you get a Stokke? Every other person in Chicago has them, just buy a Bugaboo." Helloooo? In Chicago, every other person is starving, not driving a Stokke, and what does it matter how many identical strollers are on the street? Is the only thing that matters if they're comfortable for the baby?!

I used to be disgusted by car guys; now I'm disgusted by their wives too.

And since I'm already on a pre-labor rant: Women who smoke, eat junk food, drink Coke and alcohol, and dye their hair during the first three months of pregnancy while simultaneously claiming pregnancy is the best thing that ever happened to them. Just be honest: "I hate this kid in my womb and I want it to die." Seriously, who are you kidding? If you can't give up something for nine months that threatens your baby's health, don't act like you're overjoyed.

Or those "virgin moms" who act all shocked at women having sex during a healthy pregnancy. If the pregnancy is healthy, sex should just add to the bliss. Amen.

Then there are the women who splurge on high-end stuff like Johnson & Johnson and think that's why they didn't get stretch marks. The cheapest Walmart almond oil and the most expensive luxury cream will have the exact same effect on the final result. I learned that the hard way.

Oh, and the hospital drama. When for the tiniest little thing—just a routine checkup—a woman, her husband, her mom, dad, grandma, and grandpa all start making connections that aren't there, spreading panic into a perfectly normal situation.

Pregnant women who brag about only gaining 10 pounds by 40 weeks, while they could easily carry someone like me who gained 20 kilos. Honestly, this whole weight talk drives me crazy.

And the women who preach about breastfeeding. I don't care one bit whether I breastfeed or not. If I have milk, I'll nurse, but for a maximum of six months because it's proven that after that, breast milk loses its properties and mostly just serves to soothe the baby, which feels like pure perversion to me. So, if there's milk, I'll nurse until six months; if not, I won't, and that's that.

There's more where that came from...

I sign off on all of this from A to Z.👍
During my first pregnancy, I didn't get a wink of sleep from the 25th week onward because my hands kept going numb. Honestly, I almost burst into tears... it’s just exhausting. Waking up every two hours and trying to sleep propped up in a semi-sitting position is brutal. This time around, I’m constantly being woken up by the baby—tucking them in, uncovering them, dealing with pacifiers... it's constant. And every single time I finally drift off, I have these bizarre, weird dreams that leave me feeling sick when I wake up. I don't think I've ever dreamed this much in my life 🙄

It was mine.
Looks are just a matter of taste, I guess. I wanted it to look simple—nothing too flashy or over-the-top.
The flavor? Absolutely incredible!
During this pregnancy, I'm mostly just bracing myself for any unexpected medical news or complications. My first pregnancy really taught me how inconsiderate people can be; they don't seem to realize that being pregnant actually matters to me ☕
I honestly don't care about the comments regarding weight gain during pregnancy. I put on 55 pounds, but I was back to my old self within four months.

And for women struggling to conceive, I just can't bring myself to jump for joy and announce I'm pregnant right away—even five and a half months after giving birth. It just feels wrong. I’m such an empathetic fool, I guess...
Walmart has signs up saying pregnant women get priority, but people just ignore them. So the cashier calls me ahead of the line 👍, though some guys still cut in front, while women don't 👎
I honestly think it’s better if she just ignores me instead of constantly harassing me. If she can't be a good mother, there's no way she'll be a good mother-in-law either. It breaks my heart that my child won't even know she exists, but hey, that was her choice
Henry Cooper4 -🙂 I totally get where you're coming from. Honestly, I'm almost jealous of women who actually have a decent—or even just okay—relationship with their mothers-in-law. I can't even say I have one, and she's still alive... we've never met, there's zero contact, and it breaks my heart that my kid probably won't ever know their grandma 😢
Jerry Bailey47 said:Give me a break. 😛 😬

😛 How am I supposed to admit that? 🙈 Since 🙂 you guys 😛 will just

A colleague told me she can't wait to find out the gender so she can go on a shopping spree—statements like that 🙂 I actually thought I might overdo it with baby stuff too, but I didn't

Plus, every single talk with my mom about sterilizing bottles ends up... well, a disagreement. 🙄
Some moms just can't stop shopping 🙄 (and I'm not calling anyone out specifically here)
1. It’s not like I’m actually annoyed, but it is kind of hilarious when people ask if I’m pregnant—especially since I’m already 31 weeks along! :-)
2. Because I’ve been dealing with ureaplasma since the start, someone close to me decided we were being "irresponsible" (basically implying we were having sex like rabbits). It couldn't be further from the truth, and I can't get them to see that. I would never, ever risk the baby's health for sex!!!!!
3. My best friend really let me down. I expected her to at least check in via text more often, but... nothing. Not to mention we haven't seen or even spoken to each other in ages...
The thing that gets to me most is people just ignoring the rules... wherever I go, I wait my turn. It never even crosses my mind to cut in line, especially now that I'm pregnant and there are places where expecting moms get priority. I had such an uncomfortable encounter the other day... I walked into a local notary office and saw two people sitting there waiting. I stood there for a minute before deciding to approach the clerk to ask what I needed, but before I could even get a word out, this woman sitting there lunges toward me—almost pushing me aside—and snaps loudly that she's next in line. wtf... I was honestly stunned!! I just wanted to talk to the lady behind the desk, not sit there like an idiot waiting for something to happen... but this woman, seeing my belly, thought I was trying to jump ahead of her..... It's terrible how some women can be.....
