Everything you need for a California wedding in Weddings ·
I’ve officially entered the rabbit hole of wedding dress hunting... since I'm aiming for a wedding in December, I swung by La Perle, and just like that, they already had five brides down, two of whom have already put down deposits. It was a total madhouse, which is weird because none of the other boutiques I visited had that kind of frantic rush for a late-season date. That said, out of all the dresses I saw, there are only two that actually made me stop and stare—the ones I'm genuinely obsessed with. My only hesitation is that both of them happen to be part of the new collection, so they come with $2000... and honestly, that feels a little steep for my budget.

So, they finally sorted out the venue and the photographer for us... now we just need to nail down a band. My friend Prija actually suggested checking out this legendary group from San Diego, but I haven't been able to find much about them online. If anyone happens to have any intel or knows what they're like, I’m all ears.🙂

Mediarent is definitely on the pricier side, though I know Semper Fi and Rabbit Rock tend to be a bit more budget-friendly. Then again, it really all depends on the specific gear list you're putting together. It might be worth checking in with a few other vendors just to get a better sense of the market rates before you commit...

Yeah... I actually just spoke with them... :/
Hey girls... I wanted to pick your brains for a second. I was just looking into lighting options for the wedding reception and got a quote for $1667... honestly, it feels a little steep to me, if you know what I mean. What do you all think? 🙂
William Chavez10 said:It really depends on how many people you're expecting, but honestly, if it's under 100 guests, Sky might be alright. But if you're looking at a bigger crowd than that, I'd say just find a classic banquet hall and call it a day... I've heard the folks over at Velour are pretty great, so maybe give them a shout.

So, I did a little more digging... turns out it's $38 instead of $40, and that doesn't even include wine, though all other drinks are covered. There isn't a two-hour limit either, so we can hang out as long as we want. Our group is going to be on the larger side, so my only real worry now is whether we'll actually fit—there’s a sign near the entrance of the Joker casino that says their max capacity is 330 people, so we'll see.

To be honest, I’ve been to that restaurant myself, and I just can't see how they could possibly fit 300 people in there...

I did ask about the basics—turns out the drinks aren't included and they use round tables. I even found some photos online, and honestly, it looks pretty wild. The only thing I didn't nail down was the curfew; I heard something about being out by 2 a.m., which is why I'm asking.

William Chavez10 said:She’s getting married in August, so I guess that’s their big New Year's resolution regarding the budget and the venue size... maybe they tell everyone they're capping it at 300 guests, but then quietly rent out an extra section of the lounge or something.🙂

Maybe... but is it actually true that they shut everything down at 2:00 AM and just call it a night? Or am I totally off base here? Sorry if I'm being a nuisance.

William Chavez10 said:It looks like they’re charging about $40 per person, and I think you can fit up to maybe 150 people in there. Honestly, since weddings are being held at that venue, I'd say it might be worth just heading down there in person to get the full scoop. I have a feeling the deposit is going to be somewhere around $200 or $300, so if you're serious about it, you should probably get that sorted out sooner rather than later.
She also ended up booking a DJ to go along with everything else.
So, yeah... that’s pretty much everything I know about Sky.

Thanks for the info... though when you're in a "ready to tie the knot" mood, you tend to hear things differently. In the meantime, I actually called them and was told they could host up to 300 people... and the deposit is $500. They did say the food is amazing, though. Now I'm just sitting here feeling completely confused.🙄

So, does anyone actually have a clue what’s going on with Sky?😢

David King72 said:I haven't been myself, but hopefully someone will chime in if they have.

Are you looking for music or anything else?

Not really, we don't need any of that just yet... honestly, right now our biggest priority is just getting the venue sorted out.

David King72 said:Bolero can handle up to 350 people—give them a call at 212-475-1676 or 917-152-7109.

You'll find most of the list right here.
If you have any other questions, just ask; plenty of us here have dealt with catering for large events, so we're happy to help you out.

Well, thanks a ton... we looked into Bolero and a few others, but we heard Sky Restaurant might actually be pretty decent. I don't personally know anyone who’s eaten there, though, so if anyone has some firsthand experience with the place, let me know... it would be great to know if it's worth it.

David King72 said:So, does anyone actually have any specific requests, or are we all just sitting here waiting for someone else to make a move?
Does it absolutely have to be at a place like Chuck E. Cheese? How many people are we talking about here? And honestly, what kind of budget am I looking at?

Downtown... maybe up to 250 people... and let's cap it at around $45 per head.

David King72 said:Your best bet is just to call them at 555-0199 and ask exactly how many guests they can accommodate.

But what exactly are you looking for here?
Since your big day is right around the corner, shouldn't you already know?

We're talking about December here... it's the standard seasonal rush... nothing out of the ordinary.🙂

Back again... yeah, it’s me. Apparently, we still haven't cracked the code on this one either. However, I was wondering if anyone here actually knows anything about the Sky restaurant over in downtown Chicago? I’m looking for the lowdown on prices and how much space they actually have—like, what's the capacity look like? I’ve been scouring the internet, but I can't find a single thing that isn't just vague marketing fluff. Thanks...🙂
hehe....and I can't shake this feeling that we're all just miles away from where we actually need to be....
Thanks so much... we haven't even settled on a venue yet... man, if I had any idea this was going to be such an uphill battle 😛......how much more work is actually left in this process?
Does anyone happen to have a contact number for Castle over in San Diego? I'm in a bit of a bind here and need to reach them ASAP... thanks...😁

I've been searching everywhere, but I just can't seem to find that one specific jeweler in San Francisco that specializes exclusively in engagement rings... I'm positive I read about them somewhere, but I just can't track them down right now
Does anyone happen to have any info? Please let me know if you do 🙂

I was thinking about Zales the other day.

Honestly, we’re still totally up in the air about it... we haven't made up our minds yet. At first, we were looking at heading over to Walmart, but everyone keeps telling us that the food quality and service there are just a total disaster... so clearly, we aren't the brightest bulbs in the box.😢
