Betty Davis93 said:Hey everyone, when did you all actually do your makeup and hair trials?
How far in advance?
And how early should I even be booking a makeup artist and hairstylist?

I’ve heard some names mentioned—Jane Doe, Jane Doe, Jane Doe, and Jane Doe...
I haven't seen many recent posts about makeup lately, so if anyone has any experience, please jump in and help me out...

Same thing goes for the hair

Oh, and I'm specifically asking about San Francisco 🙂

My makeup artist is Jane Doe... and for my hair, I'm using a salon in San Francisco near Joker... I scheduled both my hair and makeup trials about a month before the big party.
Sam Grant3 said:Hey there! Would you mind if I asked which band you guys are in?

Just peachy...
Sam Grant3 said:I have to agree, the food at both Dollish and Las Vegas has definitely gone downhill lately. It’s a shame, really. I suspect they might be cutting corners because ingredients are getting so expensive these days.

That’s the thing. We heard from our band that Sky used to have great food, but I guess that’s ancient history now. Hopefully, things turn around eventually.
Karen Roberts16 said:We haven't actually made the trip out there yet; we first need to check if Bolero is available and if they can accommodate a crowd of about 200. The venue looks great to me, the food is always solid, and the staff is top-notch.

Wish us luck!

I don't know, man... fitting 200 people into Las Vegas sounds like a stretch. I'll give you this: the food there is usually pretty good, but I've never been a huge fan of the layout—it feels a bit disjointed. And honestly, once you get past the initial courses, the food quality tends to drop off a cliff.
Maria Bailey4 said:I haven't even caught Sky's posts because I'm on my phone and getting poked constantly, so I miss half of everything.😁 It's not about the money, I'm just gonna call and see if they're free.😉

Honestly, I feel like SkySuper is doing alright... I mean, if you’re planning a wedding when the pool is actually full, that’s one thing, but seeing it how it is now... having an aperitif by the water is basically all you need. At least to me, it feels pretty decent.
Maria Bailey4 said:yeah, busy 😠

so the unknown isn't like a cafeteria?

nirs - is that Andrea's restaurant?

Is she just blind to the sky, or is it just too expensive for her? I honestly can't tell.
Jesse Barnes8 said:Hey everyone, does anyone have a solid recommendation for a florist who can handle both a custom bouquet and full venue decor?

Bloom & Vine
Maria Bailey4 said:Honestly, my biggest worry is what happens when we hit 250 people or more, especially since all the big convention centers are pretty much booked up on our dates 🙂

We’re actually hanging out at Sky... over at Jiker... I stopped by this past weekend right after they finished the renovations, and honestly, I was pretty blown away. If you're thinking about heading there, it'll run you about $40, though that doesn't include wine or dessert.
Maria Bailey4 said:Looking for some intel on these spots! If anyone could drop some deets on the food quality and prices, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks a tonnnnnn! 😍

Castle was about 36
Bolero - last time we checked, it was closer to 40
Lion - probably sitting around 50 or 55

Betty Davis93 said:I’m honestly torn—is it even worth checking out wedding dresses in San Francisco, or should I just head straight to an unknown area? I’m wondering how much the price gap actually is... Also, does anyone know which boutiques are in San Francisco? So far, I've only heard about Victoria's Secret and Glamour..

Regarding makeup artists, I've seen a lot of people mentioning Lucia Spajic and Tina Kalinic (I checked out Tina's work on Facebook and I'm obsessed), but I couldn't find many photos of Lucia's work online.. If you know any other talented artists, please let me know..

And yeah,, how long in advance did you all go dress shopping and book your makeup artist? It feels like I might still be way too early, especially since the big day is June 21, 2014 ...

Thanks!

I ended up grabbing mine in San Francisco because, honestly, my experience with the shops in the suburbs was a total letdown. There's a shop called Lipoto that's pretty decent... though I'm not sure if Nikolina is still taking clients. As for makeup, I went with Lucia and I am genuinely thrilled with how everything turned out. For timing, I booked my dress about four months out, while you've still got plenty of runway left since the wedding isn't until twelve months away.
gentlewolf69 said:Does anyone happen to know where I can pick up or rent a little suit for a five-year-old boy around San Francisco? I need something sharp for my little ring bearer... :P

I think you could check out La Perle; they might have something in the ballpark of $100...🙂 if you're looking to rent, but honestly, you could probably just head over to H&M and pick up something similar for that kind of money...

Henry Hill26 said:Hey ladies,
Has anyone heard anything about the Radisson? I’m totally digging the location and the overall vibe, but I can't find a single soul who’s actually hosted a party there, let alone attended one.
If you've got any intel at all, please share. Thanks!

An acquaintance of mine is getting married there this November... though I don't know much beyond that. Word on the street is the food is solid, but I'm a bit thin on the actual details...

Amy Johnson said:We finally locked in the venue and the band, yippee! It’s all set for September 11th... and now we're officially on the hunt for a photographer. Does anyone here have any experience with Toni Photo Studio over in San Diego? Not the one in Solon, but the one in San Diego... wondering if they're actually any good...

They do great work, honestly; their shots are really impressive... I can't say much about their pricing or specific logistics, though.😢
Michelle Ross4 said:Hey there...

Does anyone here actually have first-hand experience with Smile Studio and Ranko Pupic? I’ve been scrolling through their work online, and honestly, their shots look pretty killer—both the video and the photography seem top-tier...
I noticed Vedran Vidak works with them, and he’s an incredible photographer... I’ve even reached out to a few people who tagged them on Facebook, and everyone seems genuinely thrilled with the results... but then again, we all know how this works... the people who end up hating their photos aren't exactly rushing to leave glowing reviews on a public page, right? hehe

So yeah... if anyone has dealt with them before, please share your thoughts 🙂
Hvalaaa😉

I can give you my two cents on that... I actually sat down for a consultation with the guy... what he showed me was decent enough, but his whole vibe is just strange; he spent half the time talking down about every other professional in town. In the end, I went with a different studio entirely—it was cheaper, and they did an absolutely insane job. If you want, I can tell you which one I picked.

rowdyviper13 said:If you’re ordering by the slice, we usually look at something around 250 servings. But, if you're baking full-sized cakes—say, using those standard 10 or 11-inch springform pans you find at Target—you can generally expect to get anywhere from 16 to 20 slices per cake, depending on how generous you want to be with the portions.

In my experience, when it comes to dessert, aiming for about 5 to 7 ounces per person is a safe bet.

Thanks a million... you've been an absolute lifesaver here...🙂)))))))

Hey guys... quick question here... how many cakes and pastries should I actually be looking at if I'm catering for about 250 people? Honestly, I haven't the slightest clue how much food is enough to go around without running out or having way too much left over.

Adam Sanders4 said:I have a question for the group: which hair salon would you recommend for modern wedding hairstyles? I am not looking for those old-fashioned updos or traditional buns, but rather something contemporary and stylish rather than the usual stuff.

Maybe try that salon in San Francisco...🙂 right above the Westfield mall

Honestly, I think they're getting a bit carried away with those prices...://

My match just found out about this boutique that carries gowns from some famous Russian designer—someone mentioned it to her.
Does anyone have any intel on that shop or where they're located?

We also heard about Nikolina’s bridal collection—where is that? And there's a new place, Luce—apparently they carry Matija Vuica, and we actually really like her designs...

Has anyone here dealt with them before?

I haven't heard a peep about that Lady Bridal place... as for Nikolina, she's located just a bit north of the intersection above the Presidential Hotel. And Luce carries those Vuica creations... they're situated right above the local pharmacy near St. Francis.
