Maybe because you don't go buying bread at the hardware store.

I don't know, expectations are...

Don't let the innocence of this little poem distract you from the grim reality it represents. If you actually know the story—and I mean really *know* it—you'll see exactly what I'm getting at...

Don't worry, I didn't miss the point. And what's wrong with sadness? I suppose I don't mind being sad sometimes.

Wise. Thank you. 🙂👍

👍 you put that together quite well, I guess.

Edward Flores4 said:Well, come on now... curiosity is getting the better of me... where did I end up stuffing myself? Which category do I fall into?

Give me a break! You didn't say people are "forcing" themselves into drawers—you explicitly stated that *you* are the one sorting them! I mean, to even see these categories, you first have to perform some kind of selective filtering based on specific behavioral patterns, which you then label as different groups.

If that sounds a bit too complicated—let me put it more simply—the opinion you’ve shared is essentially a direct result of you "sorting" us into categories. So, please, don't feed me those fairy tales about how you aren't dividing us up and that we’re just doing it to ourselves. ☕

I hear you. And honestly, that’s exactly why I’m keeping things surface-level... I don't care about looking like a "tough guy," so I can afford to make shallow comments. It saves me the time I’d otherwise waste on a long-winded argument that—let's be real—you wouldn't even read anyway, since you've already decided you're 100% right. 😁

Thanks for the concern and the well-meaning advice, really, but I just don't have those kinds of ambitions. I'll allow myself to be exactly as shallow as my conversational partner seems to expect, based on my own experience with you. 😉

Who are you even arguing with?

I don't expect you to understand what I'm saying.
That depends on how much you'll allow yourself to.

I have to admit, I would find it pleasant if you didn't permit yourself to engage in superficial conversations with me.😉

Edward Flores4 said:Hold on a second... you’re out here sorting the rest of US into little categories, yet somehow you don't fit into any of them... and then I'm the one being labeled a racist? 😁

Yeah, that actually makes total sense. 🙂

That’s exactly what bothers me—how everyone forces themselves into these rigid categories.
I was just trying to address that in my opening post.

Making shallow comments isn't going to make you look any tougher...

Maybe none of them, or maybe all of them.

I guess you should just stop being such a bigot.

rustymaker5 said:You know that old joke where this guy who can barely get a word out stumbles into a donut shop and manages to stutter through asking if they have 100 donuts? And the clerk just tells him, "No, we don't."
The next day, the guy shows up again, struggling through the same question, "Do you have 100 donuts?" and the clerk repeats, "Nope, we don't."
On the third day, he’s back again, tripping over his words with the exact same request, and the frustrated worker gives him the same answer...
Then on the fourth day, the guy walks in, and before he can even breathe, the clerk shouts, "Yeah, we've got 100 donuts!"
And what's the point of all that?... the guy stammers.

rustymaker5 said:It just stands for whatever you decide it stands for, really... and if someone else looks at the exact same thing and sees something completely different, well, that’s just how it goes.
And honestly, there's nothing wrong with that, because we aren't all cut from the same cloth, our interests don't line up perfectly, and we obviously don't approach every single topic with the same mindset...
I really don't get why people obsess so much over how everyone else chooses to communicate. 🤷 At the end of the day, we always have the freedom to choose for ourselves who we want to engage with and whose ideas we actually want to share...

I agree.

question:

Have you ever tried buying bread at a Best Buy?

I can't get behind the "everyone" category. I guess I find the idea that everyone is one way or another to be a bit immature.

A collection for the collectors.

Please don't waste your time or mine. It feels... futile.

Here is how I see it:

People keep diving into these spiritual and psychological topics. Some just do it to stir the pot, mostly because they get a kick out of provoking people who think they’re smarter than everyone else—people who claim to see things others supposedly miss.

-Then there are those searching for a kindred spirit, someone to speak their "spiritual language," just so they can feel validated while arguing with everyone else.

-And we have these self-proclaimed "spiritualists" and "scientists" who basically spend their entire lives theorizing until it reaches a point of absurdity... it honestly becomes embarrassing for them.

I get the ones who make it obvious they're just here for the attention, using vulgarity to trigger reactions. But I don't quite understand the ones who present themselves as being so level-headed, only to immediately discredit themselves by engaging in cheap bickering with "their own kind" or anyone on the "other side."

Is it possible to imagine a scenario where people discussing spirituality would simply ignore those trying to grab attention through infantile outbursts?
Would that say something about the maturity of that group?

Maybe these "spiritualists" are just stuck in this loop of fighting with "us" versus "them" because it feels more exciting than actually caring about other people's experiences.

What does the "Spirituality" PDF actually represent?

Love is free and endless. Even if we can't wrap our heads around describing it,
we aren't gonna kill it with our words.
It's still gonna be there, whether we talk about it or not.🙂

Always the same. 🙂

Megan White4 said:It’s a long story, but since I have to explain myself... I first enrolled back in 2003. Before that, I cycled through a few different programs, mostly because my parents were insisting on specific majors they thought would guarantee a steady paycheck or a "good" career. In 1999, I finally gave in and went to the school they chose for me. Once they realized I was struggling, they let me choose my own path, so I started a different program in 2001. Since studying wasn't exactly my forte at the time, I took a job and worked for about a year until early 2003. Eventually, I quit, decided to go back to a field more aligned with what I actually studied in high school, and things finally clicked. I'm a senior now. So... there's your answer regarding "laziness."

And yes, every time I mention looking for a part-time gig through a campus job board—just so I don't have to ask for money for every little thing—the response is always some variation of "Decide if you want to study or work. How do you expect to graduate like this?" and so on.

The pattern has always been the same: whenever I wanted to take the initiative on something, they’d jump in to do it for me (or lecture me on why my way was wrong), yet whenever I had any other responsibilities, I was expected to jump at their every command.

:asshole:

It seems like you've just accepted that your parents make the life choices for you. This is probably just the result of how you view your own life.

We always know what needs to be done, but we often don't do what we should.
Why do you think that is?

Megan White4 said:Everything she imagines becomes an absolute necessity, regardless of logic or reason. Of course, trying to reason with her is a completely futile exercise.

We can't bring ourselves to toss out her belongings, even when they’re ancient or worn out, but anything that isn't hers just becomes clutter that could actually be useful...

Whenever she decides she needs to buy something—even if we don't need it at all—she spends whatever it costs. Then she has the nerve to lecture me about "going broke" when I need cash for gas or unexpected car repairs.

She nitpicks every tiny, insignificant detail, and nothing I do ever seems to be quite right.

She insists on doing everything herself, only to complain later about how much she has to carry.

The moment I question her actions, she immediately starts the theatrics, acting like the entire world is out to get her.

My patience is wearing thin because her constant nagging and whims seem to escalate every single day... 🙄 ...while my father was still around, he managed to handle her somehow, but now (since I'm just a kid to her, it feels like I'm talking to a brick wall no matter what I say)... 🙄

Maybe try getting a job while you're in college if you can, then find a roommate to rent a place with. It would be cheaper that way.
