Does a therapist's sexual orientation matter? in Psychology ·
If the topic were framed this way (though I suppose it wouldn't make much difference in the end), would it actually make sense to ask: how much does your doctor's sexual orientation really matter to you when they're treating you?

shadownomad4 said:That is correct. You can certainly act in Jesus's name, but naturally, those actions lack efficacy if you lack the power of the Holy Spirit to heal—especially if they were performed without His guidance. 👎 Jesus stated, "...for you did not do the will of my Father." This implies that we, as Christians, must remain in step with the Holy Spirit and act according to His will rather than our own impulses.

Honestly, I don't know about all that nonsense; I mean, Jesus said His disciples would heal the sick, pick up snakes, drink poison, and all that stuff... does that seriously imply that nobody is actually His disciple except for maybe a few priests?!? And please, don't try to hit me with those passages from the Book of Acts—it feels like you're just quoting some kind of man-made rulebook.

shadownomad4 said:God is exclusive, and what kind of Father would He be if He ignored the sacrifice of His Son and allowed things to be done in other ways that He performs through the Holy Spirit—which is only possessed by those who have accepted Jesus? That power (strength) you refer to as "energy" is what I have always called strength. The trap lies here: the force (energy) used in all various healing techniques originates from the spirit of dark forces, yet it feels remarkably similar to the power of the Holy Spirit. This leads everyone to believe they are the same, when they are not. With dark forces, the stronger demon displaces the weaker one, and when it comes to healing someone, the spirit of sickness displaces the spirit of religiosity through an action that is felt energetically (the religious spirit is that which acts through all techniques and devotions that do not act exclusively in Jesus's name). This is because such a spirit will lead a person to Hell forever, which is Satan's ultimate goal. It may grant you health or material blessings (did the devil not offer Jesus dominion over the whole world, implying the devil is the master on earth for those not with Jesus?), providing earthly comforts for the rest of your life, only to leave you facing unimaginable torment for all eternity.
The devil imitates God, and one must be extremely careful to recognize him. I will say it again: only when you possess the Holy Spirit do you receive the gift of discerning spirits. Otherwise, you have no idea what is actually happening to you, even while you think you do. This is based on my own experience.

Anything that is not done in Jesus's name is not from God, but from the devil! Amen.

That’s a pretty clever way to interpret the New Testament, I suppose, but maybe you could explain this part:
[Then they brought to him a man possessed, blind and mute, and he healed him, so the blind and mute man spoke and was healed. And all the people were astonished, saying, "Could this be the son of David?" But the Pharisees, hearing it, said, "He cannot cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the prince of demons."]
But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand. If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out?"
I'm not entirely sure about the exact Bible citation format, but I think it's Matthew 12, something like that...
And oh, you haven't actually answered my little experiment yet—maybe it poked a bit too hard at your sanctity? Or perhaps your... religious ego?!?! Oh, wait, I totally forgot, you don't have one of those! 🤣🤣🤣

Honestly, I don't know what more could be said than a simple proverb: "One who cannot be advised cannot be helped." Or perhaps even better: "One who refuses to seek help cannot be helped." That is why I shared my perspective with you; I have walked the path you are currently stepping onto, yet you choose to contradict me once you arrive at my level.

By the way, a person who has sincerely surrendered their life to Jesus no longer lives for themselves, because it is no longer they who live, but Christ who lives within them.

Are you maybe ready for a little... experiment?😁 Who knows, perhaps it might actually turn out to be a revelation for you?
It seems incredibly important to pay close attention to how you react and what kind of emotions bubble up inside you after reading this: Jesus is a complete idiot and a total moron!
I mean, how does that make you feel? Does anger flare up, or maybe a sense of disbelief that anyone could even say such a thing, or even just sadness...
So, here is my question. Why would you even have an emotional reaction if you were truly free and lived without an Ego when some crazy person insults Jesus? If we look at Jesus himself, he didn't just refrain from getting angry at the people crucifying him, but he actually loved them and prayed for their forgiveness, right?
Just keep in mind, the only thing that really matters here is what your very first, gut reaction is going to be, rather than what you might, I don't know, ask for my forgiveness for, or whatever else you all feel you ought to do in a situation like this...

Honestly, if you just head over to YouTube and search for charisma or maybe even speaking in tongues, you'll find plenty of stuff.
I guess the reason it might not translate the text for you is probably because most people who are out there babbling in those (um, heavenly 😁 ) languages don't really have a clue what they're actually saying anyway...

shadownomad4 said:Anything performed in Jesus' name comes from God, provided it aligns perfectly with the Letter; otherwise, it does not.

I feel like people who blindly follow the Scriptures can sometimes end up becoming quite harsh or even indifferent, mostly because they’re just doing exactly what they *think* the texts are telling them to do, which, in my opinion, often drifts away from the actual truth.
I think there's this little story—I can't quite remember if I've shared it before, but it seems to fit this situation perfectly.
So, there was this village blacksmith who took on an apprentice to teach him the craft. On the very first day, he tells him, "Alright, watch closely now; this is a piece of metal that we put into the fire until it gets hot enough. Once it reaches the right temperature, I'll give you a nod with my head, and then you should strike it with the hammer as hard as you possibly can."
Well, the apprentice did exactly what he thought he had been instructed to do.
By the next day, he was the village blacksmith!😁

Furthermore, the Holy Spirit resides within me, so I am well aware of who He is. The proof of His presence in my life is my ability to speak in tongues, if you are familiar with the concept. "Those who believe... shall speak in other tongues..." If you desire that same experience, you can look through other similar posts, or I can guide you right here.

Everything that is spiritual follows a spiritual path.

Which specific community are you part of?

And just a thought, but if we follow that logic, I guess certain rituals from primitive tribes in Africa involve making all sorts of sounds and falling into trances to prophesy—does that mean they're under the influence of Satan, then?🙄
What causes fetishes? in Psychology ·
I remember back when I was just a little kid, maybe three or four years old, how I used to get so incredibly excited about—how did I put it back then?—bare feet! 😁
It always felt like this weird mix of emotions, you know? Like, part of me was thinking, ugh, that’s gross, they probably smell! But at the same time, I was totally mesmerized by them! 😁
I don't think I even really understood what I wanted to do with them yet, but I honestly felt like I just wanted to eat them up! 😂
Is it wrong to enjoy someone else's misfortune? in Psychology ·
I guess I’ve started feeling like we don't just enjoy watching other people hit rock bottom, but we actually kind of love being the ones to trigger it... well, provided it isn't too risky, of course, or when there's no real fear of someone coming back to get us. If there's even a tiny chance of retaliation, we much prefer just sitting back and watching someone else take the shot at them, mostly because it feels a whole lot safer for us... I'm definitely not saying this is how humans are naturally wired, far from it, but man, maybe we really are just that kind of messed up...
Now, I’m obviously just speaking from my own perspective here, especially since I finally stopped lying to myself and actually found the guts to look at how things truly are. And honestly, it’s pretty terrifying.
Feeling like a total failure in Psychology ·
hmm...
I’m currently a biology major, and honestly, I guess I just can't wrap my head around how someone could possibly stick it out through four years of undergrad and then push all the way through a PhD if they aren't actually passionate about the subject matter much at all. 😕
It doesn't really strike me as being quite like studying something like business or economics where you might feel like, okay, I'll just power through this degree because I'm not entirely sure what else I'd do with my life (and hey, no offense intended to the econ majors, I definitely don't mean to imply that everyone does that)!
And when it comes to the whole creativity argument, I mean, wouldn't you say that biology actually offers up such a massive amount of opportunities where you really need to be creative? Plus, just purely out of curiosity, where on earth did you manage to find such an amazing job that offers a four-day work week with three days off?
