When can I expect the CT results to be ready over at Rebro Hospital, and where am I supposed to go to pick them up?
Austin Moore said:That’s honestly great news. If that number actually went down, I can barely wrap my head around the fact that even that was an issue to begin with. What specifically dropped? I haven't had a chance to scroll back through all the older posts yet.
I really just want him to get back to 100% health. Sending good vibes his way.

It's from the 3 rounds of chemo.
Platelets are at 20 and hemoglobin is down to 7. They already gave two units of platelets and two units of blood... I guess, what should we even be looking to do next?
So, even though they said the CT results were ready, the doctor just saw me in the outpatient clinic and told me the lymphoma has shrunk significantly—like, he’s saying we’re looking at almost complete remission! 😁 Small hiccup, though... my hemoglobin is down to 7.5, so we’re waiting on more blood work, but honestly, I'll take it if the tumor actually shrank. 😁
Angela Wright said:Neurlastin is mainly used to boost white blood cell counts. As for hemoglobin and platelets, those usually only get bumped up through a transfusion, and even then, only if the numbers drop off a cliff—plus, those come with their own set of risks, like nasty allergic reactions. Maybe Neupogen would be a better bet here? I mean, yeah, it can have some pretty rough side effects, like bone pain, but it actually works. You should ask about it. Honestly, a friend of mine dealing with Hodgkin's was trying to boost her own blood counts using things like steak, garlic, and blueberry juice.
edit I'll shoot you a PM once I find my computer with decent internet access. I'm just scrambling on my Android right now.

Thanks,
The doctor thinks everything looks fine and expects the white blood cell count to climb in a few days. Regarding the iron levels, she mentioned they should bounce back quickly since the patient is young. I guess I'm not too worried about the platelets; during the first round of therapy, they dropped all the way down to 27, but then jumped up to 300 within a couple of days. Right now, they're sitting at a "solid" 60.
So, on Friday, my L1.5 levels were sitting at 95 hgb and 250 platelets, and they gave me some Neupogen. Fast forward three days later—today—and now my L0.5 hgb is down to 81 and platelets are at 60????
The CT is all done, so I guess we just have to wait and check back in a week 👍
Does anyone know how long the wait usually is for CT results over at Rebro Hospital? I guess if it makes any difference, we're looking at a lymphoma diagnosis in the abdomen.
So, our third round of chemo is officially wrapped up over here. Honestly, things have been going pretty smoothly so far—no major setbacks or nasty mouth sores, which is a huge relief. We've been using Gelclair and I guess it’s doing a killer job. Now we're just playing the waiting game until the next CT scan to see how much of the tumor is actually left. On another note, I wanted to ask about the sweating... it's been hitting me pretty hard lately, especially at night right around my neck. What has everyone else dealt with regarding sweating during or after chemo?
Man, I don't think we really need this for a dedicated thread; honestly, we could have just opened one up for the Mainz vs. Fürth game instead.
Does anyone happen to know how things work over at Rebro Hospital regarding the hematology department? I think the chemo unit is on the lower floor, but then there's this sterile unit up on the 1st floor... what's the deal with that? Is that where they put people with really low blood counts or something? And I was wondering, are the rooms single occupancy? Thanks! 🙂
Angela Wright said:However, the recent use of the BFN/NHL 90 protocol, introduced by Reiter and colleagues, has demonstrated a greater than 90% 3-year survival rate in children with advanced T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (see Table 138D.5).74

So basically, we're looking at this new treatment protocol that's been showing some seriously impressive results—we're talking a three-year survival rate of over 90% for the kids involved.

Thanks! Honestly, seeing that 90% figure gives me such a huge boost of confidence right before I start my third round of therapy in a few days.

I'm having a bit of trouble tracking how the specific cycles work here, though. My doctor mentioned that the third round is actually identical to the first one, while the second one was different. Does that mean rounds 2, 4, and 6 follow the same pattern as 1, 3, and 5, or am I totally overthinking this?
Does anyone happen to know anything more about the BFn-86 protocol?
The whole situation is going to be a total circus 😢
Just wanted to check in and let you guys know I'm doing a bit better. After my second round of therapy, the lymphoma has shrunk quite a bit, and everyone at the hospital is pretty happy with the progress. It’s been about a week and a half since the chemo, and my labs are looking really solid now, especially with a little help from some supplements. The only real nightmare was the mucositis—that was pretty nasty during those first few days, though it's finally starting to settle down. I did have a question, though: roughly when should I expect to be called in for a CT scan to see what's left? And how do follow-ups usually work once everything is cleared? Since we couldn't actually tell it was lymphoma from just blood work—only through ultrasound—I'm curious about the next steps.

Looks like it’s gonna be a total showdown between Maestro and Lewis Hamilton for pole position

Come on, Maestro, just a little bit more! 🙂
My brother was just diagnosed with Stage 2A Burkitt lymphoma. He’s only 16, and thankfully, it’s localized in his abdomen and hasn't hit his bone marrow yet. He actually handled the first round of therapy pretty well—aside from some nasty diarrhea, which I guess is expected. His levels actually bounced back to normal just two weeks after chemo; they had to use injections to get his white blood cell count up, but everything looks great now. He's currently on the BFN 86 protocol, specifically Block A. Does anyone have more insight into this? If everything stays on track and he finishes about 4 to 6 rounds of chemo, is a full recovery usually the goal here? Also, just a side question—what determines whether someone gets their chemo at an outpatient clinic for a couple of hours and heads home, versus being admitted to the hospital for the whole stay? I know some people do the quick outpatient thing while others are stuck in a hospital bed for days.

tip: both teams to score @1.75, OVER 2.5 @2.20, Netherlands @2.85

Man, we’re looking at some of the most lethal offensive lineups on the planet here. I mean, you’ve got guys like Müller and Gómez on one side, then over on the Dutch side, it’s Robben, Sneijder, and Persie—honestly, what is there even to say? Their talent is just obvious. The Dutch have been a bit of a letdown lately, though. Especially that top Premier League scorer who totally disappeared in the opening match; I’m really hoping we see the real version of him tomorrow. After that loss to Denmark, they basically have to grab three points if they want to head into the final round without feeling too much pressure, especially since they've got that brutal matchup against Portugal waiting for them. I suspect they’re going to leave a ton of space in the back, and I honestly think talents like Özil, Bastian, Müller, and Gómez will exploit that at least once. Given how much firepower the Netherlands has, I’m expecting them to find the net at least once, too. Everyone is talking about Germany, but personally, I don't see them making it to the finals. I feel like the Dutch have way too much individual brilliance, and because they'll be playing so aggressively and the stakes are so high, they might actually take down the Germans, who already have a bit of a cushion from their first game.

I’ve already got a few decent picks sitting in my pocket for Week 3, maybe 2/3 of them are solid. 😍
