I honestly don't think any parenting advice is going to stick if it doesn't align with how you actually live your life. Kids are little mirrors; they mimic your actions, your temperament, and your core values. It doesn't matter how much you lecture them about what the world is like. You can talk until you're blue in the face, but if you're telling a kid to be tough and self-reliant while you're out here being a pushover who lets everyone walk over you, they aren't going to listen to your words. They'll just end up being soft, just like you. They pick up on what you do, not what you say.

What were your biggest pregnancy surprises and pet peeves?

The unsolicited advice from family isn't going to stop; if anything, they’re just getting more specialized in their nonsense. I have a seven-month-old, and honestly, I’m already losing my mind from all the "helpful" tips. Once we hit ten months, it becomes a daily ritual. Every time my husband or I step outside with the baby, some random lady starts shouting at us because the kid's nose looks slightly pink. They scream that she's freezing and we need to sprint home before she catches a deathly chill—meanwhile, it’s a gorgeous, sunny 60 degrees out.
