I’ve been seeing so many of these custom-made books lately that use weirdly uncanny digital avatars of kids. It feels like we're trading actual quality time and real stories for this weirdly hollow, tech-heavy stuff that doesn't even make sense when you read it aloud. Does anyone else feel like these "personalized" gifts are actually kind of a letdown?
My partner and I have been getting hammered with calls all day long... honestly, I can't take much more of this...
First one came in at 8:00 AM, and the last one just wrapped up at 10:30 PM... what is the point? We'll get back to them when we actually have a moment...
They're just trying to squeeze us...😢😢😢
I have been absolutely livid yesterday and today
I got hit with about ten messages from those "friends" who couldn't be bothered to check in on us all summer long,
but they certainly found the energy to send a text—and I use that term loosely—asking that one legendary question: "Is the baby here yet?"
Part of me wanted to just reply "YES" to everyone and then toss my phone into the ocean...
But I didn't. I just didn't have the energy to deal with the drama,
so I decided to just ignore them all...
Everyone keeps pestering me about what we're naming the little one...
It doesn't really get under my skin normally,
but lately, people have been crossing the line...
So, I just don't tell anyone anything.
I just tell them we haven't made up our minds yet,
and they'll just have to be patient until the baby arrives...
Honestly, the only thing that actually hurts is when I mention we're having a girl,
and I get those comments like, "Well, as long as she's healthy, a boy will come along eventually..."
Yesterday, one of those remarks nearly had me in tears...
Sarah Harris5 said:And then they start grilling you about how much weight you dropped, right? Like, "How much more do you have to lose just to get back to where you started?"
I’ve got a bad feeling I’m gonna be hearing that exact same thing.
So yeah, that’s probably the exact scenario playing out,
I don't know, I'm still stuck in two different mindsets at once...
Donna Chase12 said:yeah... unfortunately
I guess some girls who get pregnant easily don't even realize what a massive stroke of luck they actually had...🤷
Oh, and it just hit me—something that used to drive me absolutely insane—back when women would interrogate me about how much weight I’d put on... like, as if anyone actually cares... 👎
It drives me absolutely crazy too...
I honestly feel like no matter what I say, they'll just snap back with, "Oh, that's a lot! I only gained a little bit!"
hollowmarlin49 said:So about two weeks ago at Chase... My dad was all like, "Hey, just be nice to the teller, don't be rude" (I only went because they lowered my overdraft limit due to some pregnancy fee nonsense). And since I wasn't even listening to him, I totally snapped at him... like, why is he lecturing me on how to talk to some lady at the bank 🙄
I honestly die of embarrassment when I see those 70-year-old tourists stripping naked right in the middle of the beach while my sister-in-law's six-year-old kid is standing right there...
but frankly, I couldn't care less,
I tell them exactly what I think, and usually, they either cover up or clear out...
If they want to be naked, they can find a nudist beach,
because Lord knows I’m not showing up to a nudist beach in a wetsuit...
not that there'd be much to look at anyway, then I wouldn't even bother saying anything...........
hollowmarlin49 said:then my dear husband just hides away because I give him such a hard time with my sharp tongue.
It’s the exact same thing with my husband too...🤣🤣
But honestly, I’ve run out of patience for everyone. My tolerance levels are at zero.
I’ve got enough of a belly now that you can tell...
And if they don't let me cut ahead in line...
I was at Walmart today being perfectly polite—well, I *could* have been—since pregnant women get priority...
Nobody actually dares to say anything to my face because I'm 5'11" and nearly 200 pounds,
but I can see them whispering about me the second I walk past...
As if I actually care what two old hens think about me...
If they hadn't let me through, they would have faced a verbal hurricane from me...
And my mom was right there with me, and she probably would have snapped at them if they even breathed in my direction...
And as for that crazy group of people you were talking about lately—I'm sending them all a massive dose of pepper spray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let them be blind for a few days since they clearly aren't using their brains anyway!

Me: No, he just cares that the baby is healthy and safe...
Unbelievable.🙄
I already have a girlfriend and a boyfriend...
Those comments drive me absolutely insane too.
Whenever I mention we're waiting on a girl,
someone always chimes in with, "Well, at least you'll get a boy next time," or some nonsense like that...
It's constant... almost always coming from women...😲 Seriously, what is wrong with people??????????????????????????????😲 😲
And all I can think is...
"You complete idiot... if you actually knew how long we've been praying for this child, you'd shut your mouth and cover your ears..."
But instead, I just say...
"The gender doesn't matter one bit,
as long as they're healthy!!!!!!!!!!"
vividhawk87 said:Regarding that whole situation at Walmart, if I were in your shoes, I’d just say it loud enough for everyone to hear: "Well, there are plenty of other stores!" then I'd leave the ice cream right there on the counter and walk out...
And as for the bus or the subway, you should just walk up to the most arrogant person on board and ask, "Excuse me, could you please help me sit down? I'm feeling dizzy and can't stay on my feet," just to see who decides to suddenly go deaf right then
I honestly can't stand those arrogant idiots. I'd give every single one of them a piece of my mind, because that's exactly why people walk all over us—because we don't know how to speak up for our own rights....
But what am I supposed to do when their mascarpone flavor is literally the best thing on the planet... 🤦
(though my mom actually picked some up for me after work today 🤣 👍)
Kate Cox2 said:I truly hope that one day, all of us women who have contributed to this discussion will find ourselves being much more tolerant toward pregnant women—especially considering the absolute nonsense we were forced to endure back in our day...
Personally, I can say I’ve always let pregnant women, moms with kids, and even seniors cut in front of me in line... even though everyone else in line usually gives me death stares...
I even let a woman with a much bigger bump than mine go ahead of me at the CDC clinic while I was pregnant (not that anyone besides me actually noticed her presence)...
And back when I was in college in Chicago, I always gave up my seat on the CTA...
even for people who aren't even fifty yet...
Dammit, maybe I'm just stupid—my parents raised me that way and I can't help it...
That’s why what I’m going through now (and it seems like many of you are too) feels absolutely surreal...
Edward Williams8 said:Screw the tourists who shop at Walmart while they're on vacation...😂 😂
That’s exactly what I said when I hopped in my car! Literally those exact words!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Edward Williams8 said:I've been running around like crazy lately. I was out and about yesterday morning—even hopped on a Greyhound bus—hitting maybe 15 different shops just to get things done (don't even ask how my feet feel right now). I hit the bank, the pharmacy, the doctor's office... and not a single person offered to let me sit down. Not one person gave up a seat for me. Not a soul... Cheers to the Middle East...
Look, it isn't just about the Middle East,
just read my previous post,
yesterday I was at Walmart with three ice cream cones and some tourists wouldn't even let me cut in line,
even though there were four registers open and ten people at every single one...
they actually started talking trash about me too...
It's just a general lack of decency—that's the real issue, everywhere and always!!!
I absolutely lost my mind at Walmart yesterday,
I headed over there after my doctor's appointment just to grab some ice cream since my freezer was totally empty,
and I am obsessed with theirs,
so I get to the checkout with three cartons of ice cream in hand,
there are four lanes open, and I ask if I can just quickly jump ahead (I even had my cash ready in my hand and everything)
but everyone just turns their back on me, rolling their eyes, acting like they don't understand or just plain refusing to let me through
(and yeah, it was nothing but tourists with overflowing carts everywhere)...
If my husband had been in the car, he would have caused a scene because he loses it when people won't let me cut ahead—especially since I technically have priority and my belly is currently huge, like a watermelon,
but I just didn't have the energy to fight with them
so I just left the ice cream right there in the first freezer (I was being polite enough, I guess)
and walked out!!!!
Well, honestly, screw all of you and your complete lack of empathy!
Later, my mom gave me an earful, saying I should have gone straight to the first clerk and demanded to go ahead of the line,
but how am I supposed to explain to her that nobody would even let me pass, let alone listen to a word I said?
I was honestly terrified someone in that crowd would shove me and hit me right in the stomach...
hollowmarlin49 said:Ugh, just heard another gem from everyone—men, women, young, old... all of them. If you think things are hard now, just wait until you have a kid, then you'll really see, haha! (okay, I added the laugh at the end, but that’s basically how they say it 🙄). Honestly, why are people such jerks? Like, can't we just have a normal conversation without it turning into some mean-spirited comment? It's not like I'm pregnant because it's "trendy" or whatever... I know exactly what I'm getting into.
I’ve heard every single variation of this nonsense too (the whole "get your sleep in now because you won't get any later" routine, etc.).
Maybe I actually want to be tired! And then I'll just rub those rude faces in it—even if I'm lying about it... he he he!!!
I honestly cannot wrap my head around why older women are so incredibly hostile toward us pregnant ladies,
I’ve noticed that when I’m standing in line at the grocery store, it’s always those specific women who turn their backs on me and pretend I don't even exist,
usually, younger women or men of any age are perfectly fine about letting me go ahead...
when I mentioned this to my husband earlier today
he absolutely lost it... (he’s been fuming all day because he wasn't there to give her a piece of his mind...)
and then there was that time at the clinic where a woman at the blood draw station practically shoved me out of the way—elbows and everything—just because I'm expecting
thankfully, the nurse behind the counter tore her apart so thoroughly that she actually looked ashamed and slunk to the back of the line...
It drives me absolutely insane when my mom and sister try to lecture me about buying clothes smaller than a size 24... they keep insisting it'll only fit for "the first few days" or whatever nonsense... (as if I haven't already bought them regardless of their input...)
And then today, some lady—probably in her mid-50s—just completely lost it on me.
She had the nerve to practically plant her lounge chair right over mine while I was out in the water.
Apparently, it’s the only spot with any shade on the beach.
I don't care where my chair was positioned before she showed up...
But when I finally got back from the ocean,
she didn't even have the decency to say "excuse me" or ask if she was in my way.
Instead, she just snaps, "Your chair isn't bothering me, so if mine is bothering you, why don't you just move!" 😲😲
Most of my girlfriends who have babies have been totally real with me,
not exaggerating or sugarcoating anything because that’s exactly what I asked for...
but then you still get those few idiots who just won't shut up about the weight gain, my body, how much sleep I'm getting, and all the other lovely commentary...
Over the last two days, I actually had two good friends tell me I look great and that I've only put on a little bit of a belly (which isn't even entirely true, but thanks anyway!) !!!
but I’ll be polite and thank everyone for their input, though this whole debate about my weight based on whatever new "standard" people are using lately ends right here...
I don't owe anyone an explanation for anything!!!
The only thing that truly gets under my skin is those people who suddenly become experts on everything, acting like they have all the answers to life's problems...
but I've finally learned how to just tune them out!!!
