It honestly blows my mind—my kids are irritating me more right now than they ever have in my entire life!! I’m sitting here watching two women out by the window with their two kids, just constantly wrestling with them. The kids are totally wound up, screaming their heads off, one second shrieking nonsense and the next trying to out-sing each other to some catchy pop song... and this whole chaotic scene started nearly an hour and a half ago! I am seriously tempted to call the cops, or at least storm out to the window and give them a piece of my mind on behalf of everyone who had to deal with their own little terrors when they actually needed some sleep
Some high-strung woman at the DMV was absolutely getting under my skin today... just pure, unadulterated anxiety radiating off her. I can't stand people like that.
When you already know you're stuck in a waiting room, what could possibly make the situation worse?
She was badgering every single clerk walking down the hallway: where is that woman, did she even show up for work, is she coming back or did she bail, is there even any point in me sitting here waiting.... I lost count of how many people kept calling (or acting like they were calling) the specific employee we were all waiting for, and every staff member would just listen with this patronizing sympathy, nodding their heads and offering comfort... seriously, lady.
Ever since that heavyweight boxer turned into a total stomach wrecker, my capacity for food has absolutely plummeted—and what irritates me most is the constant nausea and that feeling like I’m about to explode after every single binge... because let’s be real, I am never at peace unless there is something sweet sitting in the fridge, and I need it dealt with right this second... so while I get my mental fix, my body pays the price.
(there isn't even a decent emoji for this situation)

Ever since I lost my keys, everything seems to vanish... even my glasses just went missing yesterday 🙂

As for me? My memory and focus have been absolute zero since I turned 40... I have to write *everything* down, otherwise, it's gone—though half the time it still doesn't get done because I forget to actually check my planner.
I guess I’m just invisible now 😢
...was grabbing drinks today with a friend I hadn't seen in months—and absolutely nothing. Zero recognition.
Then comes the question: "So, what's the big deal? It's only been, like, four months?"
😠 NO, IT HAS BEEN SEVEN!!

I tried blaming the dress instead of my stomach—not that it mattered, since it was one of those loose, floor-length maxi dresses, not even tight...

edit: and then came the part I loathe most—"So, when are you getting married?"
just endless, mindless chatter about it
I’ve basically hacked the public transit system—I just make sure to walk to a bus stop where either nobody gets on, nobody gets off, or it’s the very first stop on the line. That way, I can actually snag a seat. 😁 (I wouldn't even dream of trying that at the stop near the downtown farmer's market—the seniors there are way too aggressive; I didn't try it before the pandemic, and I'm certainly not starting now) ...but honestly, I'd much rather trek through the blistering heat than spend my time crammed into a stinking, suffocating, shoulder-to-shoulder metal box known as a bus.
I’ve gotta point out—even in this thread about surviving the heatwave, everyone keeps bringing up snoring husbands... seriously, does anyone actually have a partner who doesn't sound like a chainsaw?
Ever since I started working from home full-time, his snoring has become a total nightmare. It used to be fine—I'd just record him on my phone and laugh about it later, or honestly, I barely even noticed because he’d go to bed right when I was heading out to campus or running errands. But now that I'm stuck at home all day? It’s not funny anymore. It's just exhausting. 🙂
🤷 Honestly, I’m constantly bumping into things because I have zero sense of how much space my stomach actually takes up—I’ve just always been used to squeezing through tight spots. God knows how many times I’ve accidentally clocked someone in the face with my gut while trying to shimmy between tables at a crowded Starbucks 😬... At this point, I’m more worried about bruising people than anyone being worried about me
I’m honestly driving myself crazy right now—just spiraling over how many terrible habits he’s inevitably going to pick up from his father. I can already see it happening in thirteen years: this rebellious, aggressive little terror with a cigarette dangling from his lip and a mouth full of profanity. It’s nauseating. And god forbid he inherits that "enthusiasm" for education that runs through his father’s side of the family... if that happens, I might need to start digging a massive hole just to hide in. I’m already dreading those parent-teacher conferences where everyone points the finger at me because my teenager decided to get into a scrap or act out.
Everyone who claims time is flying by absolutely drives me insane... I’ve only just hit the seven-month mark, and I’m already counting down the days until month eight. It’s ridiculous—just a few days ago, I was drowning in errands and work, and now suddenly everything feels like it's dragging. How is it that time is going to feel even slower from here on out?!! I’ve honestly caught myself wondering several times today if it’s still Monday🙄. Just get a move on, kid, and get out of here—I've had enough.
Peeing, peeing, and more peeing... honestly, pregnant women should get subsidized toilet paper at this point.
Amanda Reed4 said:I honestly cannot wrap my head around why older women are so incredibly hostile toward us pregnant ladies,
I’ve noticed that when I’m standing in line at the grocery store, it’s always those specific women who turn their backs on me and pretend I don't even exist,
usually, younger women or men of any age are perfectly fine about letting me go ahead...
when I mentioned this to my husband earlier today
he absolutely lost it... (he’s been fuming all day because he wasn't there to give her a piece of his mind...)

and then there was that time at the clinic where a woman at the blood draw station practically shoved me out of the way—elbows and everything—just because I'm expecting
thankfully, the nurse behind the counter tore her apart so thoroughly that she actually looked ashamed and slunk to the back of the line...

Ugh, the geriatric ward there is a total nightmare... some old lady practically grabbed me by the arm when they called my name for my glucose test, and I just started 🤣..because honestly, what’s even the point of trying anymore?
Douglas Booth22 said:I have a question, and since I wasn't sure which thread was appropriate, I'll just drop it here.
Is it actually okay for a pregnant woman to attend a funeral? I've heard some old wives' tales suggesting that many pregnant women end up getting sick or vomiting after attending one.😕

🤣🤣🤣🤣
vividhawk87 said:Honestly, there’s one more thing that drives me absolutely crazy... my husband. The second he realizes I’m actually bothered by something, he decides it's the perfect time to just push all my buttons. I actually ended up breaking down in tears right in the middle of a Target aisle because of his obsession with buying sneakers. He’s impossible—this pair isn't quite right, that pair is too much, he finds some tiny flaw in every single shoe. And there I was, feeling completely miserable, dealing with some stomach issues and feeling overheated, just wanting to get home, but he wouldn't budge... he kept insisting we look at more. Then, he finally tries on a pair that looks great, says they feel amazing and fit perfectly, but then follows it up with, "they look kind of cheap." Like, how on earth can his Reeboks look "cheap"??? That was the breaking point for me. I grabbed my box of Adidas and stormed out of the store. It’s infuriating how easily he can throw me off balance... and then he has the nerve to ask why I'm crying!! It's because he knows exactly how to wind me up, especially when my hormones are already making everything ten times harder!

Just send him shopping alone... see how fast he grabs the first pair of kicks he sees in the very first store. Usually, when he travels to Chicago for work, he just picks something up there. Personally, I much prefer shopping solo—no one rushing you, no drama, just peace.
Edward Williams8 said:I mean, come on, you could have at least given her a little smack with those things. Like, "sorry, my hands are shaking because I'm pregnant"...
@rustyrider20: why are you feeling bad for me? I'm practically begging for scraps at the playground every other day just to get anything, whereas you probably look all sweet and charming while I just look like a massive pregnant woman

And when I'm feeling this weak, everything is a struggle—first I have to haul myself to the subway, then catch the bus, then trek uphill from the stop to my house... I can manage 4 pounds, but anything over that and I'm done. Add this heatwave to the mix? Forget it. It used to be that people would actually take pity on me and hand me something extra just to help me put some weight on.
hollowmarlin49 said:The lady at the bakery yesterday was like, "Hold on, let me pick out the biggest croissant for you," and honestly... made my whole day.

Down at the main street in Chicago... every third vendor is shouting about discounts for pregnant women—they'll give them a deal, then toss in some extra treats for the duo, too.

So why don't I ever get the biggest croissant? That’s what I actually want... Every single time I walk into the bakery to ask for an apple turnover, they tell me they're out. Usually, they're out of croissants, too... yet when I send my husband, he comes back with both the turnover AND the croissant.
New grievance: hitting up the farmer's market. Ever since I started showing, everyone’s been trying to be "helpful" by stuffing my bags with extra apples and pears... I went out today just for some meat, a pound of fruit, and half a bag of green beans, and somehow I'm walking back with six heavy bags—easily 10 pounds of extra stuff. As if nobody realizes how much of a struggle it is to carry all this while pregnant!
My main sources of irritation lately have been
1. certain people....solution: avoidance.
2. boutique baby stores and their insane price tags....solution: avoidance.
3. letting random comments get under my skin....solution: I only hang out with the good ones—people who actually lift my mood with their comments—so I can actually feel good about myself.
4. college....done. I pushed through, crushed my final exam of the year, and now I am officially free.

So yeah, life is great right now.👍
Edward Williams8 said:I showed up at my OBGYN’s office at 6:45 AM to grab that maternity leave paperwork, and there were already seven women ahead of me. Then three massive pregnant women lined up right behind me, and not a single person thought to let the three of us who actually look like we're struggling go first... just sad...

Look, even at my doctor's office, there’s no such thing as an "express lane" for pregnant women... I mean, how are they even supposed to tell who's actually expecting and who isn't? Personally, I don't care about cutting in line. Dealing with the morning sickness was way harder—especially during those early weeks when I was so nauseous I spent the entire waiting room session glued to the seat right next to the restroom, praying I wouldn't lose my lunch right then and there.😉
Kate Cox2 said:It honestly drove me absolutely insane how everyone would act so judgmental the moment they realized I was wearing thongs. It’s as if it were some sort of strictly forbidden ritual during pregnancy...😁
I truly haven't the slightest clue why people care; I kept wearing them without any issue whatsoever, though I did finally pick up some standard briefs just recently. But then again, as I have remarked before—I am quite a resilient individual, and nothing really bothers me much.😁

And another thing... you actually drive a car???? 😲That simply cannot be allowed!!!! Honestly, you aren't supposed to do that at all... 🙄

You’re hearing all sorts of nonsense
...as if there's any reason not to wear thongs instead of standard undies—they just sit a little deeper, that's all.🤣 😁Actually, thongs are usually thinner, more breathable, they dry faster, and they allow for much better airflow
(honestly, I dealt with my worst bouts of yeast infections when I actually listened to "smart" advice and switched exclusively to cotton briefs).😉
