I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how much the "appointment" process has changed over the last few years. It feels like we’re moving further away from the old idea of placing subject matter experts in high-level roles and moving toward a model where personal alignment with the executive branch is the primary qualification.

It’s a weird tension to watch. On one hand, you have the argument that a leader needs people they can actually trust to execute their vision without constant internal friction. On the other hand, when you start filling massive, sensitive institutions with people whose main credential is being a "loyalist," it makes me wonder about the long-term stability of our non-partisan agencies. Once those lines get blurred, is there any way to ever get them back to being neutral?

Do you think we’re seeing a permanent shift toward partisan control of these institutions, or is this just a temporary phase of high political tension?
If it offers any small measure of comfort—it certainly didn't for me—nobody cut in line while I was pregnant. But the moment I have my little one in my arms or tucked into a carrier, people suddenly become unnervingly polite and practically clear a path for me. I can't even 👍
Ugh... I gave birth six months ago, but the memories are still vivid. I absolutely loathed it when acquaintances would reach out and grab my stomach without asking. And God, the sudden influx of self-appointed gynecologists was unbearable—my mother-in-law was the worst offender of them all.
- "Your bump is sitting too low; you won't even make it to your due date," she claimed. I delivered exactly on schedule, June 16th.
- "The baby will likely be bald, maybe even hairy, 🙄 given how much acne you have." My child is currently as hairless as biologically possible. 😍

- "Oh goodness, all those ultrasounds... why do you insist on radiation exposure?"

- "Just get some sleep now while you can; you have no idea what's coming once the baby arrives." As if I were heading straight into a concentration camp 🙄 rather than parenthood. My child started sleeping through the entire night at one month old, and they haven't woken up since.

Et cetera, et cetera...

Protect your peace, ladies. Some people simply feel a biological necessity to run their mouths. 😁

My baby was 8 months old at the time, and since I was breastfeeding, I actually got positive results on my first, second, and third tests... It's definitely possible for a test to be falsely negative due to a hundred different factors—like if it isn't your first morning urine and you've been drinking tons of water, which dilutes everything, or if ovulation happened later than expected. As far as breastfeeding goes, it's more likely to just throw off your cycle rather than trigger a false result.
Are you feeling any other symptoms, or is it just that your period is late?

I haven't even had my first period since giving birth. Honestly, I just feel slightly off. It could be anything, really... but given that this was the result of a single encounter outside of my fertile window, and we used withdrawal, I might as well start looking at baby cribs again.🙂
The anxiety has finally set in... I think I'll go get a blood test done, just to be certain...
A question...
Is there any chance a pregnancy test could return a false negative if the woman is currently breastfeeding?

I'm wondering if the hormonal shifts during lactation might somehow interfere with the accuracy of the results...?
My little one is five months old, so I doubt I'm pregnant, but my mind won't stop racing. I took a test, yet the uncertainty persists.
If anyone has insight into this, I would be grateful. 😉
