Jeremy Alvarez5 said:So, I've been out here searching for something good, just kind of reflecting on things, you know? Just one of those random thoughts hitting me.

So, I was thinking about this thing from the Bible earlier—you know, how it describes God as being jealous? It’s such an interesting concept when you really sit with it for a second. I mean, it's kind of a wild way to frame things, right? Just a thought that's been rattling around in my head.

So, you're saying that people are just inherently bad by nature—which, I mean, I guess I could probably dive a bit deeper into how I landed on that conclusion if you really want to get into it—but then you look at the state of the world today and... well, just look at this mess:

I guess you could say being human is kind of like being "thrown" into existence—nobody exactly checked with us first to see if we actually wanted to show up, right?

So, look, we’re all here trying to find our footing and carve out a space for ourselves, mostly because most people aren't exactly wired for masochism, right? I mean, let's be real—most of us aren't out here chasing fame or trying to become the next big CEO just for the sake of ego. Most people are just trying to live a decent, normal life on this planet. But even when you're just trying to exist peacefully, life tends to throw some stuff at you. It's like, you're just cruising along, and then you run into these things:

It feels like everyone is just constantly clashing with one another in every way imaginable. I mean, honestly, a huge chunk of people across America are basically just fighting tooth and nail over tiny scraps of land or whatever resources they can grab just to keep food on the table and stay afloat. It’s kind of heavy when you think about it, I guess. I guess I’ve been stuck in these deep, existential headspace loops lately... just thinking about life and everything. It’s one of those things that hits you out of nowhere, you know? One minute you're fine, and the next, you're staring at the ceiling wondering what any of this actually means. Maybe it's just me being overly dramatic, but sometimes the big questions feel a little heavy. I mean, honestly, we can't really call that kind of thing "charity" or "kindness." It’s just not right to frame it that way. Think about it—so many incredible artists, brilliant scientists, and those unsung heroes who shaped our world didn't have it easy. They weren't just handed a living; they were forced by circumstance to grind and hustle just to survive. It was necessity, plain and simple, not some grand act of generosity. I guess when you look at it that way, calling it "goodness" feels a bit off, maybe even a little misplaced.

I don't know, it feels like death is just lurking around every corner lately, you know? Like, one minute you're fine, and the next, sickness hits or you're dealing with that soul-crushing boredom that comes from having zero opportunities because of poverty. It makes you start questioning if any of this even matters. And then there’s the whole thing with physical desires... I mean, nobody asks for those, right? You're just born with them, whether you want them or not. It seems like people everywhere are just constantly battling these basic struggles. Even the weather—the atmosphere itself—really messes with how our bodies feel and honestly, probably even how much we can actually focus or learn on any given day. It’s heavy stuff. And then there's the darker side of survival, where we have to basically destroy or change nature just to put food on the table... I guess even the most extreme stuff, like cannibalism, isn't entirely out of the question in the grand scheme of things. It’s no wonder people are scared to have kids these days. I mean, if you can barely scrape by yourself, how are you supposed to give a child a decent life? People are too wrapped up in these massive existential anxieties to even enjoy the little things. Everything feels so high-stakes. Even when it comes to the consequences of our actions—whether it's a full-blown war or just some stupid argument with a neighbor—the connection between what we do and what happens next feels so blurry. We're constantly second-guessing ourselves, forced to watch others get torn apart, either figuratively or, well, literally. And then you add in all the different moral codes, religions, and cults... there are just so many ways to look at the world, and honestly, it's overwhelming. There's no clear roadmap. It feels like these endless hardships are just forcing us to... well, I guess I'll stop there. It's a lot to process. I guess I'm just looking around, trying to find something... maybe? Not sure what I'm searching for yet, honestly. Just kind of browsing. It’s like... there's this higher purpose to everything, I guess. It’s not something you just stumble upon all at once, either. It sort of reveals itself to you, slowly, as you go along. Maybe that's just how it works.GodSo, what I'm trying to get at is... how can people actually be "good"—you know, like truly recognized as good people—when they're living within systems that are just fundamentally broken? Like, how do you find those little pockets of goodness or manage to stay upright during the pauses between all the absolute chaos and messiness of life? I guess it’s about finding those moments of grace when everything else is falling apart.

I guess I actually see things the complete opposite way. If you ask me, people are pretty much good at heart by nature, you know? It’s just that life tends to throw so much crap at us—it can be so forced and honestly just plain unsatisfying sometimes. People end up searching for answers and trying to find a way out of the mess, but... They just don't get it, I guess. I mean, it’s just human nature to mess up and end up disappointed, you know? We all fall into those same old patterns and bad habits. I wouldn't go so far as to say people are inherently evil, though. It feels more like the world itself—or Mother Nature, or even God, if you want to look at it that way—is just set up that way. But then you get into the tricky stuff. If God is jealous and goes around punishing people just because they actually enjoy being alive, then what does that even say about the whole concept of a higher power? Or the idea of freedom and goodness? I guess if we don't actually have the freedom to choose our own path, then nobody is truly "good." We're all just doing whatever we think is best in the moment to survive. It’s a bit of a head-scratcher, really.

It feels like people just don't know much anymore, you know? Awareness is pretty low, and honestly, I feel like the ability for folks to actually step up and help one another isn't exactly where it needs to be. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like we're all kind of stuck in our own little bubbles lately. I mean, if you really think about it, that whole thread of just trying to be a decent human being... it kind of stretches back through all of history, doesn't it? It’s like this constant, ongoing effort that we've always been making. I guess you could say it's woven into everything we've ever done. Despite all the threats from religious fanatics and those endless cycles of violence between different groups... I don't know, it honestly impresses me how many quiet, unassuming people out there just try their best to live an honest life. At least, it does for me. But then again, most people just go through life without ever really knowing the truth. Personally, I don't see inherent evil in people. I think it’s more about that struggle—that inability to reconcile personal beliefs and conflicting views. It’s like they can't find a way to bridge the gap, and then things just spiral, and you end up with people losing their minds or getting caught up in chaos. Maybe that's just how it is.

Hard times and crappy circumstances are just excuses for people to be even worse. Real good people stay good, even when everything is falling apart.
placidwolf2 said:Fortunately, things aren't a complete disaster every single day for me, so I can catch my breath. If it were constant, I’d probably lose my mind. 😳It mostly follows some kind of predictable rhythm every few months. I’ve noticed I’m most drawn to women during the spring and especially in the summer. 🙄During the winter, I’m happy just being with my boyfriend; girls aren't even on my radar then. Honestly, I’m a bit of a mess. I was lying awake last night thinking that maybe I’m just envious of how good they look in all those breezy summer dresses—yum. 😍Envious yet obsessively attracted... I don't know if there's a clinical term for that specific phenomenon. It actually crossed my mind to just take my boyfriend's last name and see what happens next. ☕

@redharbor9 - thanks. if my brain starts acting up again, I'll be back. 😍

Yeah, because that’s when they start showing more skin...😂 maybe that's why you're subconsciously drawn to them more in the summer... or what?
placidwolf2 said:Thanks for the input. 😘 I get where you're coming from, and I've actually considered that possibility. Maybe I didn't make this clear enough, but when I fall for a woman, men basically cease to exist in my mind—I just don't perceive them anymore. 😕 It feels like an all-or-nothing situation for me; there isn't much middle ground. The real issue is what happens if I actually commit to a woman after having physical experiences with one. That pull is obsessive, yet at the same time, it absolutely terrifies me.

I know the general consensus is that sexual orientation mostly solidifies during adolescence, and back then, my feelings definitely leaned toward guys. That’s why I’m so conflicted. If anyone here knows the clinical take on this: is it actually possible to suddenly realize you're homosexual right as you're hitting thirty? When you're young, you just drift along without overthinking things like I am now. I'm scared to dive into something REAL that could completely overhaul my life, because part of me keeps telling me this is all just some temporary phase.🙄

That’s pretty standard for anyone who identifies as bisexual. When you're crushing on your own gender, you feel gay. When you're into the opposite sex, you feel straight.😉
Take a friend of mine, for example. She's bi, but it's funny how her "type" shifts. When she's into guys, it's always those textbook alpha males🤣, but when she leans toward women, they're always super feminine. Meanwhile, I'm over here wondering why
I'm exclusively drawn to dudes who are basically just physical and mental clones of women. WTF?
placidwolf2 said:I feel like I’m constantly battling this identity crisis. For the longest time, I’ve always been exclusively into guys, but then there are these phases where I find myself falling for a woman. It usually happens out of nowhere—just a passing thing—but then suddenly she’s all I can think about for days, and I’m just counting down the minutes until I see her again. Meanwhile, everything with my boyfriend seems totally fine, except maybe when we're being intimate; I catch myself imagining his touch is actually hers, though he has absolutely no clue what's going on in my head. Then, just as quickly as it started, the feeling fades. I can't really explain it. I just know I don't have the guts to approach any of these women I find attractive, even though a part of me really wants to. I'm terrified that if I actually tried, I might find out I actually enjoy physical contact with them, and that scares the hell out of me. I’ve always told myself I was only attracted to men, and I’d really prefer to keep it that way. Things are great with my boyfriend, and I tend to view these feelings as just some passing phase that might eventually disappear on its own, so why risk everything? What do you guys think? Is it worth taking the leap to figure out who I really am, or should I just keep playing it safe and stay the course as I have been?

You're probably bisexual. If you were purely gay, you wouldn't be into guys at all.
They tend to be very straightforward about it; they actually can't stand men. Just like how gay men are—they can't even imagine being with a woman. Not out of some personal hatred or anything, it's just that they can't picture it. I heard that from a guy who is strictly gay.
slyraven9 said:Man, I’ve been wrestling with this one thing for what feels like forever, and honestly, I just don't know how to fix it. Looking at my own orientation, I’m either gay or bisexual—it kind of fluctuates—and it's starting to really get under my skin. Every single day, walking down the street, I hear people shouting things like, "What's wrong with those queers?" or "Someone should teach them a lesson," or "How can they even show their faces in public?" Look, I try to brush it off, I really do. I tell myself, "Hey, they're just being hateful, but hey, those people are still humans, even if they are the way they are." At first, I was fine with it. Just thought, *whatever, it is what it is, right?* I figured I just had to toughen up and deal with the noise. But after a while, it started eating at me. It created this constant, restless anxiety inside my chest. I see couples everywhere—just happy, totally in love—and I start spiraling. Like, why? Why did this happen to me? Why can't I feel what everyone else feels, you know? That spark with a woman? God, I just want to have a girlfriend. Not a boyfriend. I want to start a normal life, not... whatever this is. Did I even get a choice in the matter? Heck no! Eventually, I just hit a breaking point and told myself, "I don't want this." I don't want to be who I am. I just want a regular life with a girl who loves me, someone I can protect and look after. I want to love her, I want her body to drive me crazy, I want to be a man who loves women. But no matter how hard I try, it feels like I’m tethered to the ground. Like it's some impossible dream I'll never reach. Honestly, I’d rather not exist than keep living like this. I’ve been fighting this battle for so long now. I’ve tried watching lesbian porn—strictly girls—trying to ignore men entirely, doing my own thing to nothing but women, trying to figure out what makes their bodies exciting to me. After months of pure misery and struggling through it, I thought I finally made progress. I started feeling something for women, but it’s mostly just affection; their bodies only turn me on a little bit. Now everything is just a massive, confusing mess. Sometimes it's guys, sometimes it's girls. I'm totally lost and I don't know where to go from here. I know it sounds silly or unrealistic, but that’s truly how I feel. Right now, I just feel like the most pathetic creature on earth. I’m desperate.

So, I guess what I'm asking is... is it actually possible to change your sexual orientation?

Has anyone else ever gone through something similar? What does it even take to make a change like that?
How much time does it actually take? Has anyone ever truly succeeded? Please, seriously, any info would help me out. I honestly don't care if I end up being a firm bisexual or straight, as long as I'm not gay.

Have you ever actually been head over heels for a girl? Ever been in a long-term relationship with one? To me, it looks like gay guys can fall in love with women, they just don't care about the sex part. That's how it comes across from you.
Getting attached to your own creations in Spirituality ·
That sense of attachment? It’s definitely coming from the ego, but honestly, it depends on how long it sticks around. In small doses, it can actually be useful. It makes you feel connected to the source of your creativity, giving you a sense of awareness about what you're building. That part is fine. But once you hit that mature stage of the creative process, you start to realize something: you can't fulfill the true purpose of creating if you don't share it with others. Which means you have to let go of the thing you love most. When you stay attached to what you've made, you just end up being arrogant and chasing validation. Once you start detaching, you finally see the bigger picture. You see the distinction between the creation and the creator... and that creator isn't your Ego. It's your Soul.
When I drop off a package at the Post Office, is it actually true that they open every single box before they
ship it out?? Also, can I just grab a shipping box right there at the station, or am I supposed to bring my own?
