Does your brain have a gender? in Psychology & Therapy ·
Your Brain is 27% Female, 73% Male

It makes me wonder about my own identity.

Learn from your parents or...? in Psychology ·

I guess I'm just wondering if it's actually possible to learn both the absolute best and the absolute worst traits from your parents, and then somehow end up as a fully realized individual—you know, keeping all those great qualities you picked up while somehow shaking off most of the bad stuff as you grow up?

It really comes down to your environment.
For instance, if your parents and everyone else you grow up around rely solely on punishment to teach lessons, you'll likely assume that's just how parenting works and repeat those patterns.
But if it's just your parents and you realize their methods are flawed—that positive reinforcement is a better way to go—you'll have a much better shot at breaking the cycle with your own kids.
Oof.

I honestly doubt anyone could top Alex Walker5's car, though. haha

Is anyone there?
Just curious in Health ·
Can someone explain why everything looks different when I sit in a tub of really hot water? All the colors seem to shift—everything gets this weirdly bright, almost fluorescent look, and there’s this subtle purple tint to everything. You know what I mean? I can't quite put my finger on why it happens.

Have you thought about seeking out something positive instead? Are your parents still around? You don't need to stage a crisis just to get a therapist's attention; you can always just make an appointment. If you really want things to change, you should try reaching out on your own terms to talk to someone and maybe get some Zoloft or Prozac...

Any scouts on here? Which troop are you guys with, and are you planning to compete this year?

Drew Morgan said:Honestly, what’s the endgame here? Is she actually going to see a specialist? Does anyone truly believe a doctor can just fix her?

They could always prescribe something stronger to see if she snaps out of it, though I doubt it.
In my view, the family needs to spend more quality time with her. They should focus on her, not on this imaginary friend she's talking to—giving in to that just pulls her further from reality. If being present doesn't help, then we're looking at a medical issue that requires professional treatment. At that point, you take her to the doctor.
Those urine tests can be unreliable, but bloodwork doesn't lie. Mass spectrometry is incredibly precise. Did you realize that going in, or was it news to you? Unless there was some massive mix-up at the lab—which I find hard to believe—this whole thing feels off. It just doesn't make sense how you could test positive for both without having felt a single symptom beforehand. 🤷
Iron deficiency (anemia) in Health ·
Look, I know it isn’t the Center, but since I rarely touch fruits or veggies, I picked this up to fill the gaps in my diet. It claims to be high in iron, which got me thinking. I don't actually have any deficiency issues, but I bought this supplement that says it provides 65 mg of iron—which apparently equals 325 mg of ferrous sulfate—and now I'm just confused. How much actual iron is in that Iron Mountain sublingual stuff? And honestly, how much iron or sulfate should I even be aiming for?
btw thanks Kimberly White63 for the reply...
Iron deficiency (anemia) in Health ·
My apologies if there's already a thread about iron levels, but I have a quick question. My iron is always sitting right around 3—I’m not entirely sure of the specific unit, but you probably know what I mean. I recently started swimming, and for the first time, I'm feeling the actual exhaustion from anemia, rather than just those dizzy spells when I stand up too fast. I used to take one Iron Mountain tablet a day, but since I moved, I can't get my hands on them anymore. I picked up some Center because it claims to provide 100% of the daily requirement, but at 18mg, I suspect that won't cut it. Does anyone know how many milligrams I actually need per day, or how much was in a single Iron Mountain pill? It usually takes me a week or two of being consistent before things start looking normal again, but then I inevitably forget and fall off the wagon. This time, though, I'm actually staying on top of it, so we'll see how it goes. 🙂
Thanks, talk soon
Quick question for an eye doctor in Health ·
Go see your primary care physician; they’re the best ones to decide if you actually need to head in. Personally, I get these dizzy spells whenever the water in my shower gets too hot, which I always kind of suspected might be linked to anemia. Not sure, though.
