Rebecca Peterson94 said:But June isn't "a couple of weeks" away, and honestly? I don't have that kind of patience. And let's be real, most people don't either.

I’m sorry, but I just can’t wrap my head around that... it’s not like the world is ending if you don't see each other in person for a little while...

Especially given everything going on right now, it feels a bit selfish, if you ask me...

Just hop on a FaceTime call, talk on the phone, and find some way to feel close...

At the end of the day, if someone lacks the patience and decides to push back against the rules, they can deal with the fallout themselves...
copperwolf16 said:Now the Americans in Saint Paul have implemented similar measures—it is actually prohibited to leave one's home municipality unless there is a legitimate, justifiable reason. I should note that their local municipalities are quite similar to ours; we are talking about areas outside of the major hubs like Saint Paul, Milwaukee, Cleveland, or San Diego—mostly small, rural towns.
Only a few days ago, they believed such a decision would merely complicate people's lives unnecessarily; however, this past weekend, due to the beautiful weather, huge crowds headed to the coast, to Lake Tahoe, or up into the mountains to socialize and, unfortunately, get sick... It is precisely because of that reason they claim they were forced to implement these restrictions.
The exceptions to leaving one's home municipality are much like our own—work, visiting a care facility for the elderly, seeing a doctor, or tending to farmland... even going to the grocery store or pharmacy in a neighboring town is permitted, but only if those services aren't available within one's own municipality.
Additionally, the use of face masks and gloves in indoor spaces is now mandatory. If you don't have a mask, a scarf or bandana will suffice. They have also introduced a requirement for disinfecting public areas within buildings—think door handles on entrance doors, handrails, elevator buttons, and so on.
With these measures, they have actually overtaken us and are now leading the way in terms of restrictiveness.

I haven't quite figured out how they intend to carry out these measures operationally—specifically, who will be tasked with issuing permits, or if anyone will even be issuing them at all.

In the end, it will be just like it is here: for someone living in Saint Paul, life won't change much, but for someone from, say, a small town like Iowa near Saint Paul, it is going to be a nightmare.

Yeah, their local government structure is pretty similar to ours in terms of territory...

But the US is way more decentralized compared to Rhode Island, where everything just revolves around the major metropolitan areas.

Plus, during the "golden age" of EU funds, the US pulled in a massive amount of money from the EU, so almost every little village over there has decent infrastructure.

That one utility service or whatever they call it is available in every single small town and hamlet...

But apparently, my natural way of talking just isn't clear enough for him 😢

I'm with you—how long is this trolling, spamming, and constant baiting going to last?

Here are some examples of posts that got nuked because of your trolling, though they're still visible to the supermods:

And then there are those obvious ones where you just spam and try to provoke people under the guise of having a "meaningful discussion"

Oh, and a little more spam for good measure...

All of this happens because you can't handle the fact that you didn't actually provide an argument for your claim... instead, you started lecturing everyone about learning, time management, and all that nonsense...

But, of course, when it comes time to defend your golden boy Bernie Sanders, suddenly "personal opinions" are more than enough...

Seriously, why are you complaining about the very things you insist on doing yourself?☕

It's all fun and games when you're the one spamming and trolling, but the second it hits back at you, suddenly you're playing the victim?

He was practically giving us a lecture during our English lit class yesterday. Let's just say we all walked away with a reality check based on his standards.

Could you drop a link where I’m supposedly bragging about being an English expert?☕

Or maybe show me where I "handed out" grades to anyone?

Lying isn't exactly a great look, even if you're still salty because I told you that buying a new car on credit is a total idiot move...
Linda Harris59 said:My take is that while extraordinary laws might be passed during a national emergency to temporarily suspend certain rights, those measures shouldn't last forever. If an emergency order is declared "indefinite," it must automatically expire the moment the pandemic is officially declared over.

We absolutely have to highlight the specific hardship faced by separated couples so that the government provides some sort of legal exemption to resolve the issue.

Look, it’s not like we can just declare a state of emergency on a whim—there are actual protocols for that, you know? You can't just wave a magic wand and call it a crisis whenever it suits you. There are specific rules in place for a reason, and frankly, it doesn't work like that.

If I recall correctly, you need a two-thirds majority to pull that off... though honestly, how much weight the President actually carries when it comes to making that final declaration—I don't know, it's a bit of a gray area.
Kenneth Jones70 said:Here’s what I’m thinking—things should start hitting the fan this week for regular folks, especially couples torn apart by this morbid decision.

I’m sending an email to the Department of Justice tomorrow morning. Naturally, I’ll be citing the U.S. Constitution and all those international treaties we signed that guarantee nobody can just restrict your freedom of movement.

There are thousands of couples in America being screwed over right now.

Is this really okay with them? Just dropping an "indefinite" ruling like that and making people suffer?

The government needs to let these couples move freely. And look, I’m not saying this as some "softie" who can't function without a girlfriend or partner.

I can handle it, sure—but it’s just not mentally healthy to have the government telling you that you can't see your significant other.

They need to fix this law immediately and allow travel from point A to point B.

The real question is when someone is going to snap—and I might be the first one to hop in my car and end up in a holding cell because I refuse to run from the cops.

Isn't that just a regulation rather than an actual law?

Then again, I don't see the big deal with being apart; nothing catastrophic happens if you don't see each other for a few weeks...

With the tech we have nowadays, staying connected via video call isn't exactly a struggle...

If you're actually going to lead a high-speed chase with the police just because you can't see your girl, then yeah, you deserve jail time and a draconian sentence...
hollowtrucker77 said:Yeah, obviously, because everyone just starts hitting the unofficial routes instead; it's common sense that the numbers would spike elsewhere.
🤦

Right, because clearly, Border Patrol agents only sit in their little booths at the checkpoint and completely ignore the rest of the entire border line...

Totally logical, isn't it?

Weren't you supposed to be in the Scouts or something? Why all this nonsense?😉
briskscout13 said:Man, you couldn't be more wrong if you tried.
There are more of them than ever, and they're coming in with masks, gloves... honestly, they're geared up almost as much as our own FBI.
But our guys? They're actually out there dealing with the mess. 👍.

A buddy of mine who runs a shift at a border crossing says there aren't any cars or migrants in sight...

And this is at a checkpoint where, not too long ago, specialized units had to work alongside their colleagues from Canada just to keep people from crossing.

He tells me things have never been this quiet in years, and it's all thanks to that perfect storm of closing down the smaller stations plus the curfew...
nimblescout50 said:It feels like nobody even bothers to talk about the migrant situation anymore.

Benjamin Barnes2 said:Once this storm blows over—and it will—they’ll be right here...

The migrants aren't even anywhere near the borders anymore—the borders are basically "dead"...

In Canada and Mexico, the police basically have you on a permanent leash—nobody can even move without them breathing down their neck.

I mean, let’s be real—it’s probably not like they don't care either...
Bryan Taylor6 said:Besides, those people haven't just been migrating for two days—it's been happening for weeks.

Weeks? Are you kidding me? The earthquake happened literally a week ago...

You specifically wrote that the shutdown order came a day too late, right after everyone had already moved...

The decision actually dropped on Monday...

So now that I'm calling out your nonsense, suddenly we're talking about "weeks"...

And honestly, where is this idea that roughly 80k people have real estate scattered all over the US? If you're averaging families of three or four, that would mean there are 80k separate properties across the entire country. It doesn't add up.

You tripped over your own logic here—my bad, but it’s true.
Bryan Taylor6 said:The decision came way too late. It happened right after 300,000 people from NYC already cleared out of the city.

Wait, where are you guys even pulling these numbers from?

I was arguing with some "genius" the other day who claimed 100k people lost their jobs in a single week, and now we've got this...

Look, if 300k people is true, that’s nearly 40% of the population of Washington, D.C.... and I'm just talking about the city itself, not the whole metro area...

Where on earth is the infrastructure supposed to handle a migration of 300k people in a day or two? It just doesn't exist.

Why even bother dropping a link when you admitted right above that you were already doing it...☕

But sure, go ahead, you were just "expressing doubt"...

It’s honestly pathetic—just bottom-of-the-barrel behavior, nitpicking over an obituary while a guy is dealing with losing both his father and his brother in less than a month... I don't even want to attempt to label the level of malice required to sit there and drool over someone's death notice and fake reports while they're in the middle of their worst grief... it's just low.

You can try to spin this any way you want until tomorrow, but you've already shown everyone exactly what kind of person you are...

Disgusting.

Jerry Robinson56 said:🤦 can I get a link? Where exactly am I claiming ... I’m just expressing some basic suspicion here. Deviant behavior and alcoholism are pretty much two sides of the same coin.

You just keep rambling on with this nonsense—it's clear your issue isn't just with the data, but with actual logic. I pointed out a possibility, sure, but there's enough substance there to make a claim. Regardless, that's not even the point here.
With outbursts like yours, we honestly ought to just open a separate PDF for you—one-on-one—because you have this massive problem where you think nothing is actually a problem.

Just proving my point...☕

Seriously, how low can someone sink? Moving immediately from a discussion about Unknown to hunting down his brother's death certificate?

How much of a moral void does a person need to have to pull something like that?

Even the guy above siding with you can see what's happening... the question is whether he'll finally open his eyes.

As for the numbers and letters... once you wrap your head around the fact that it isn't Germany, stop the insinuations, and learn the difference between a percentage and a percentage point, then maybe we can talk.

Until then, between your earlier obsession with finding that death certificate and this latest toxic post where you're again implying a death was faked, you've made it very clear exactly who you are.
Paranoia in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’m with you on that...

And all this while you're busy backing someone who—get this—actually asked for an obituary for Joe Biden's brother just because they claimed he faked his own death... honestly, I have to wonder what your subconscious is trying to tell you when you align yourself with people like that.

Look, I'll be blunt—I've got a massive problem in my life, and that's having zero tolerance for blowhards...😉

At the end of the day, you really only need to look at who you're siding with to figure out exactly what kind of person you are...☕

Anyway, still waiting on those actual arguments regarding the laws you were so confidently wrong about?☕

I see the preschool-level whining is still going strong, but once again—zero ACTUAL ARGUMENTS...☕
Jack Cook7 said:It was Stražaplastika, back in that small town near the Sutla river—I think it's Vetropak now. They make bottles and glass packaging. Some Swiss person bought them out about 15 years ago.

If that's the case, man, that is nasty. They’re huge. Their production basically keeps the entire economy of that area afloat. If they shut down, things are gonna get ugly fast.

Then you've got Vetropack and OMCO up there—both huge players. I know for a fact OMCO follows the rules to a T, maybe even a little extra, because I actually know their director... there are other companies that lean on them, but those two are the heavyweights. A lot of people work over in Austria too, since the border is right there, and the industry—glassmaking—is the same thing on both sides, like over in Rogaška...

The real headache is that everything can't just shut down. Even with COVID, people have to work... otherwise, there won't be any paychecks for the workers, and there won't be any tax revenue for the Government...

And honestly, the Government isn't doing a damn thing to help with these measures...

I’m honestly trying to figure out what kind of mental breakdown leads a moderator—let’s call him Unknown—to hand out five or six bans in just a couple of days during the election cycle. He was nuking anyone who dared to disagree with the mainstream Democratic National Committee under the guise of "trolling," while simultaneously acting as a bodyguard for everyone toeing the DNC line. And the kicker? The guy himself was clearly trolling the whole topic at the end...

Then you have this same Unknown suddenly acting all concerned because he’s being "followed"—as if standing by your own arguments and actually providing reasoning constitutes stalking...☕

But really, I just want a formal diagnosis for whatever was going on in that first paragraph...
Jose Scott3 said:Oh, really? At this rate, I might actually start rooting for a Government that uses repressive tactics against its own people just because you think we should blame the entire public sector for a crisis they didn't even cause...

The worst part is, those same political parties that have been wrecking this country for the last 25 years make me sick—I've never voted for them—but these mindless attempts to lynch the private sector almost make me want to support them just out of spite.

No, I won't do that because I can't even find a job in my field in the private sector since there's zero actual work left in this wasteland. Real countries have massive R&D in the private sector, but here, they gutted the whole industry back in the early 90s...

Look, in my own city alone—which only has about 50k people—I can name five or six companies doing R&D, including my own...

Plus, I could list a whole bunch of colleagues and friends from the FBI who jumped ship for massive pay raises in the private sector compared to what they made at the FBI... but let's just say the rules in the private sector are a little different than working for the Bureau...

As for those permits, personally, I think it's insane that the fine is $45,000 if you get caught without one, but only $12,000 if you're just breaking self-isolation...

Just the last two pages of your relentless trolling regarding Bernie Sanders...☕

And then there's you pulling my post out of context—specifically the part where I was asking when the legislation would actually pass. I wasn't even addressing you specifically; I was just leaving a comment on the thread without feeling the need to quote anyone...☕

Anyway, it’s pretty pathetic that someone can be such a dedicated troll that, instead of actually using an argument, they choose to just whine about the Unknown.

☕

The mods really need to take a look at the last two pages of this thread just to see how hard you’re trolling...

Basically—you've completely exposed yourself without providing a single shred of evidence. Three or four different people here have asked you the exact same question, yet you just keep trolling and spamming...

And now you're just doubling down on the nonsense because you can't bring yourself to admit you messed up...

So, who exactly is following you?

Is it just me, or those other three or four people actually looking for an answer to your nonsense?

P.S.

When are the laws coming out?
