The Americans have been obsessing over physical conditioning for the last 15 or 20 years like nobody else on the planet...
And I’m not just talking about handball—it goes across basically all their sports...
When you look at handball specifically, they were the first ones to really lean into player anthropometry and body metrics, and honestly, that clinical approach has paid off big time over the years...
The thing is, they do it with a scientific rigor—starting from the youth levels and sticking strictly to the playbook without wavering...
If you want to get technical, there are three real "schools" of handball worth mentioning—if that's even the right way to put it—the French style, our style, and the Scandinavian approach...
And if you ask me, the ranking goes exactly in the order I just listed them...
Now, let's be clear here—I'm talking about the development process starting from the kids and moving up from there...
Walter Hughes53 said:That's not quite it—the song starts, he cuts it off, and then the crowd starts chanting something... I don't know, just something along the lines of "na na naaaaaa na" if that even helps at all.
My mind was leaning toward "Hey Jude" by The Beatles, though I wasn't really paying close attention...
We’re talking about a team that nobody even gave a prayer of making it out of the group stage, let alone fighting for a medal once they hit the quarterfinals...
But of course, the "patriots," the self-proclaimed "experts," and all those other loudmouths are still spitting venom...
It’s mostly just people who couldn't hold a handball if their lives depended on it—people who haven't touched a ball in years, much less played a sport at all...
And I don't mean high-level professional athletes, I mean just general sports enthusiasts...
They sit there thinking, "Oh, if I shot it like this, or if I moved like that..."
Give me a break. 99% of them would be crying for their mothers after five minutes on the court, begging for a sub because they can't handle the contact—or they’d start a literal brawl because their brains can't process how much physical grit is actually required in handball...
So, honestly? Tell all those critics where to shove it and enjoy the bronze...
Let the "experts" keep whining while we celebrate...
I honestly don't get these two—I've known them for years, and look, they’re decent enough refs, but this? This is some bottom-tier G League level officiating right here... they're absolutely butchering the game.
Pesic is playing defense, while Zlaja is just standing there at the 12-yard mark with his arms spread wide, trying to play peacemaker...
I’m honestly lost here—I was taught that the winger is supposed to be sprinting on the counterattack the second the outside back pushes up for the shot...
Instead, our winger is hanging out in our own half just watching the chaos unfold instead of actually running...
Kyle Torres60 said:Yeah, and now they're acting like that fairy tale scenario was some kind of minor foul—it’s honestly ridiculous. Honestly, Pešić is defending him like he's going absolutely insane.
It wasn't even a foul...
A double advantage? No, that's just a mistake...
First, you grant the advantage (letting the player take the shot), and then once you see he missed, you try to reset it to the 9-meter line...
That doesn't work like that. If you let him shoot, the play is over. Period.
Walter Hughes53 said:If a defender is just standing there like a statue, it’s a charge. If they’re actually moving—assuming the offensive player didn't go out and commit some blatant foul like an elbow to the face—then it’s a foul on the defense. Honestly, the easiest way to call it is just watching the defenders' feet; usually, you can tell if they were planted or in motion by looking at their legs.
Not exactly...
You’re forgetting about jumping. A player doesn't necessarily have to be standing perfectly still for it to count...
And generally speaking, you don't have to be stationary either—it’s not like basketball where everything is so strictly regulated...
Another "charging" call in Brooklyn instead of a 7-meter shot, even though the defender was mid-air... he basically drove his shoulder right into him...
