They haven't even clarified—was that Strlekov goal actually illegal or not?

Yeah, it was—but then again, maybe it wasn't, since Cindric was clearly in the crease messing with the goalie...

Between the Norwegian's positioning, those penetrations (where the same guy breaks through right after the first DV play), two penalties against the Norwegians plus one for us, and having a perfectly good goal for them wiped off the board...

All things considered, there have been way too many mistakes for a full game, let alone just one half...

Look, missed calls on strides or double-moves might happen, but penalties, lane violations, and giving away a valid goal? That shouldn't be happening at this elite level...
Robert Doyle8 said:Alright, can someone please explain why our perimeter guys at 6'10" (Knight, Stepancic) feel the need to drive inside and get slaughtered at the 6-foot mark when they could just be picking apart 90% of the league from deep? Are they actually deaf, or does anyone care to tell them?

They’re just too lanky—they need more room to build momentum, so they take a longer stride and end up right in the thick of it at the 6-foot mark...

Some genius told the Lady, Jesus, and their little apostle on the bench that we should be defending this with a deep zone...
Like I said before, this whole transition thing...

Someone actually suggested that if we just shut down that Norwegian guy Pike, everything would be fine, right?

Well, look at us—we shut him down, and guess what? No big deal...😬

The officiating has been pretty garbage so far...

dustypanther6 said:Since nobody seems to be answering me, I’ll just ask again in case someone actually decides to chime in: since when was it legal to score directly from a throw-in?

It’s always been allowed...

Think about handball—there isn't really an "out of bounds" or a "corner kick" in the way we think of it...

You've just got throw-ins, throw-outs, and the goalie restarting play after coming out from the crease—basically, any restart is a live ball situation...

Which means any shot taken from those spots can absolutely count as a goal...

Obviously, with a throw-in, you have to keep at least one foot on the line—the line is part of the field, plain and simple, and that's all there is to it...
Kyle Torres60 said:So, are we looking at two five-minute stretches now?

Yep.

I honestly can't deal with these half-baked, nonchalant passes from Doug...
We’re just standing here in shallow water watching them instead of stepping up and hitting them like a freight train...

Harold Long21 said:what exactly is this guy getting beat up in every single tournament...

Well, he’s playing 60 minutes every single game for his club...

If you're counting 2 minutes, then sure, let's call it 7...
Charles Fox10 said:He should've gotten a red since he had both hands on the neck—but apparently, nobody saw that penalty coming.

He missed it, sure, but a red card would’ve been fair game too...

It wasn't a penalty because they’d already played advantage...
God, what a total joke...

velvetwalker8 said:We need to run a 6-0 defense—just shut down the middle and if our guys show up, we’ve got this in the bag.

Brilliant idea—let's just smother Piqué and let their wingers tear us apart...

You’ve got it all backwards; the Spaniards rely on those heavy, slow wingers who charge in through the zone...

Then you have the Norwegians—they've got fast wingers who pivot between playing a zone and attacking the goal directly, kind of like how Mamic plays against Spain...

But sure, let's go with a 6-0 defense just because we're obsessed with stopping Piqué...

Chris Fisher3 said:Solid data here. You can really see how much more diverse the Norwegian style is compared to us—if you consider Americans "us" in this context. We tend to force everything through the middle and rely heavily on outside shooting, whereas they seem to attack from every single position. They use their wings way more than we ever do. Man, if you shut down those perimeter shooters, they’ve got us boxed in. That’s how it looks just watching the games, but looking at these actual stats? It's pretty eye-opening.

So?

If you shut down the perimeter, you just break them by driving in a second player and forcing them back into a defensive set...

The only real way to stop outside shooters is running a 3-2-1 or a 5-1, but you need a specialist to pull that off...

In today's game, practically nobody can sustain that kind of pressure—especially not for a full 60 minutes or even just playing at a high tempo...

Andrew Hayes6 said:Look, yeah, sports is all about favorites, but people are talking here like we don't stand a chance against the Norwegians. If you actually bother to read what our former handball pros are saying in the papers regarding tomorrow's game, everyone seems to agree—we’re the favorites, even if it's going to be a total grind.

From what I can tell, most people in here are convinced it's going to be a struggle... and they're right.

We aren't favorites by any stretch of the imagination; at best, it's a toss-up.

The Norwegians have arguably the best transition game in the whole tournament—at least from the matches I've watched.
Handball World Cup: America vs. Norway 25:28 in Other Sports ·
If we start playing games with them and they catch us out in a loop, we’re toast...

The transition play, those quick offense-to-defense switches—not the other way around—and having the bench sitting on the far side during the second half when the score starts breaking wide open and everyone's energy inevitably dips... that's where it'll go south.

Look, handball is all about defense, but if you've got a fast ball moving through the zone, it cracks any defense wide open. Right now, the backs can't break out to the wings, and the center just keeps feeding the ball down the line constantly... it's relentless.

Andrew Hayes6 said:So, according to you, some "world-class expert," the Norwegians are actually favorites over us? Haha, please.
Sure, they’ve had a couple of decent games this tournament, but let’s be real—that’s a squad that has never even touched a podium. Only total clueless amateurs or those die-hard fanatics would suggest they have the edge against us.
They're good, don't get me wrong, and it won't be a walk in the park, but honestly, anything other than an American victory would be a massive upset.

Amateurs? Fanatics? What kind of nonsense are you spewing?

Look, this is sports—it's handball, not a political debate...

You love to mock everyone else's expertise, yet you haven't contributed a single intelligent thought regarding the actual game...

And what does their past medal count even have to do with this?

How many medals have the players from Katro or Canada ever grabbed? How about the folks from Denmark or Germany?

In handball, age is actually an asset for a goalie... you just get better as you go.

Think about guys like Omeyer, Šterbik, Stanić, Lavrov, Bašić, Hvidt, or Hombrados...

Every single one of them had—or still has—plenty to say on the court well after they hit 30.

At the end of the day, a keeper is only as good as the defense standing right in front of him.

lonebadger6 said:Look, sorry, but you clearly don't grasp what trolling actually is—or what counts as trolling here and gets penalized—and you're refusing to play by the rules, even though you've been given plenty of answers. You’re entitled to your opinion, sure, but that doesn't change the rulebook. You can argue all you want, but calling the Republican Party a "pro-establishment party" or anything along those lines is against the rules. It's forbidden. And you'll get a warning every single time, no matter how much you write about it or act shocked.

Personally, I couldn't be further from being a fan of the Republican Party, but every time you post something that breaks the rules, you're getting a warning—it's earned, and you'll keep getting them for posts like that.

As for those posts you're labeling as "trolling" (those first five links)—none of them are trolling, and honestly, I wouldn't hand out a warning for any of them either.

Most of the other links you sent are just pointless, mostly because the same user has been flagged countless times—sometimes you just get hit with a stack of warnings at once. It's not like you're getting a warning for every single "Republican Party is pro-establishment" comment you make. Regardless, other users shouldn't be the focus here, but you've picked a completely wrong example.

Then there's this one: which I personally would flag, but it isn't some massive insult that demands immediate action—it really just depends on how strict the moderators are being on that specific thread.

If we define trolling as basically anything that disrupts a normal discussion...

...then please, continue trying to explain to me how disrupting a conversation isn't trolling. For instance, if someone starts a thread about Josipa Rimac and you jump in talking about how she loves folk music, and then suddenly a bunch of "defenders" swoop in to start bashing someone from the Democratic Party or some other group, claiming they also love folk music...

What else is that if not a targeted attempt to derail the topic and hijack the conversation?

lonebadger6 said:You clearly don't get how the point system works.

Criticizing the moderators is a violation of the sub-forum rules and carries a 30-point penalty.

Trolling—which generally includes mild insults—carries 35 points.

Directly insulting other users is 45 points.

In the last five months, you haven't even picked up a single infraction under those specific rules. I won't go any further, but this is more than enough.

Well, obviously I do...

If calling out moderator incompetence is treated almost the same as insulting someone's family, then your "standards" are truly top-tier...
Major trolling over at Politico... in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Oh, I’m certain of it—mostly because I know from some pretty solid sources that even the moderators over at Reddit know exactly what's going on behind the scenes...

But they stay dead silent... while everyone else gets banned or hit with a permanent strike just for mentioning how the mods operate...

It’s honestly the absolute bottom of the barrel...

If you dare criticize the moderation, that's a 35-point penalty; if someone insults you, maybe you get 30...

And seriously, how much longer is this going to last? How long can the same handful of accounts jump into threads about the Republican Party or Karamarko to troll with mentions of Milanović and the Democratic Party every single time a fact comes up that doesn't fit their narrative?

Is that actually allowed?
