Why did Jesus die?

Look, aiming to think clearly and act right—that’s the real goal for anyone trying to make something of themselves. Honestly, God is kind of a non-factor here. Besides, half the evil in this world happens because people go screaming about His name anyway. So what if He does exist? What if hell is just packed with people whose only "sin" was having an ounce of doubt or skepticism? Is that really the bottom line of the whole divine existence thing—that doubting is the ultimate crime? To me, the only thing that matters is making sure you don't reach the end of your life with a massive pile of regrets or stuff you wish you hadn't done. And if some guy shows up at the finish line and tries to tell me, "But that wasn't enough," well, screw him and his philosophy. At that point, hell wouldn't even be the worst thing that could happen to me.

Thinking deeply and acting with integrity—that’s the ideal one should strive for to give their life any real meaning. To me, the whole concept of God feels secondary here. Honestly, so much evil in this world has been done in His name anyway. But then again, what if He does exist? What if hell is just filled with people whose only true sin was simply doubting or being skeptical? Is that really the most significant aspect of a divine existence—that disbelief is the ultimate transgression? I suppose it's more important that, at the end of your life, you aren't left tallying up a mountain of regrets or things you wish you hadn't done. And if some entity shows up and tells you, “but that wasn't enough,” well... frankly, screw them and their philosophy. At that point, even hell wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen to you.

I have to agree—so many religious fanatics, and there are plenty of them when discussing the Creator, tend to paint Him as this monstrous, vengeful figure.
