It actually drives me crazy that I have to start hitting up this new bakery, just because the lady at my usual spot right around the corner keeps hitting me with that—"Oh wow, look how much you've filled out!" 🙄
help
I've been coughing my lungs out for two days straight now. And every single time I cough, I end up peeing myself— 😲 I’m wearing a pad and trying to figure out if it’s actually "fluid," but honestly, I think it’s just urine! 🤷
My ribs are actually killing me from coughing so much. Can these crazy abdominal contractions actually hurt the baby? Also, is there any chance my water could be leaking out while I'm just assuming it's pee?? 🤷
So, I’ve got a question here -
if I'm sending out a package and dropping $1.75 bucks on shipping, what happens if the mail carrier shows up at the recipient's place and nobody's home? They just leave one of those little yellow slips and now the person has to trek down to the USPS office to deal with it? Who's actually pocketing that extra $1.75!?!?
I mean, they have working hours just like the rest of us. Most people are stuck at their jobs when the mail arrives—it's not like everyone is just sitting around waiting for a delivery. Only moms, pregnant ladies, or people on maternity leave are hanging out at home all morning waiting for a box! 😍

And honestly, can we even trust these carriers? Like, did they actually try to deliver it, or did they just drop a slip and call it a day? Because that's happened to me way too many times. I'm chilling at home, waiting for my stuff, and then around 2 PM I see a notification saying they tried to find me at 11 AM?!?! It's like they didn't even bother checking if anyone was around. Is this just some scam or straight-up theft $1.75?!? 😂

What does the lady at the post office have to say about all this?
Just finished up at the USPS, figured I’d drop this here in case anyone needs the heads-up
The lady behind the counter basically told me that the price hike is just a reshuffle of those $1.75 fees the recipients used to cover for home delivery—
Basically, before, the sender would pay $13.80 and then the recipient would shell out another $1.75—but now, the sender covers the whole thing. $6.75
There’s a little catch, though—if you’re shipping to some tiny rural town that doesn't offer doorstep delivery (the clerk has the full list), you’re gonna be paying $6.00

If you’re just sending a single T-shirt or some small stuff that fits in a bubble mailer, that’s technically a "certified mail" shipment. You fill out a different little form, and for anything between 101-250g it’s $12.50, while 251-500g runs you $15.20.
The main difference from a standard package is that you don't declare a specific value, but honestly, it’s worth it because you get proof of mailing and those tracking numbers to hunt down the package if it goes missing. Unlike regular mail, where if it disappears, it's just... gone.
Anyway, there you go!
John Wright45 said:The mail carrier isn't the villain here! Maybe it was just one of those crazy days where the volume was insane and they couldn't fit everything in the bag—you know, besides all the letters and magazines and whatever else... so they just took the easy way out and left a note.
If you only knew the absolute nonsense we have to haul around ...

Seriously, what's the deal with the mail carrier excuse?
Look, I get it, your job sucks sometimes, but that whole argument is just plain stupid.
You guys deliver exactly what we sent and paid for.

And if I've already paid shipping, I expect the delivery to actually happen.

I mean, my mechanic fixes all sorts of ridiculous things on my car—doesn't mean I care about his struggle, I’m paying for a service!!
analograven5 said:not even close. honestly, I spent the whole day pacing my place waiting for a package, only for them to leave some tiny little slip in my mailbox late in the afternoon. nobody actually knocked on my door, guaranteed. 😉

this happened to me twice last week
and that's when my husband gets home from work and finds a notice, meanwhile I've been stuck at home with the kid all day. then, obviously, we can't do anything about it because it's already 7 PM, so we have to wait until the next day—ugh, seriously.

so when I asked the USPS office why they do this, they just told me it’s not their fault, it’s the mail carrier's, and if I want to complain, I should call his supervisor.
🤷
Betty Flores71 said:Look, honey, I already figured this out. I showed up with the printed slip Sweetmint emailed me, just waiting for my package, but I wasn't even sure if it had actually arrived since I hadn't gotten a notification yet. The guy just typed my name into his computer and told me, "Yeah, it's here." He basically just double-checked the tracking number on my printout to make sure it matched. Seriously, if you're waiting on a delivery and it hasn't shown up within 3-5 days, just go check at the local USPS office. 😉

And what if they pull the "it's our new policy" card? Like, "oops, we don't deliver packages or leave notices anymore, so why don't you guys just fax each other notifications or text the tracking numbers so we can all hunt down our own stuff at the post office"?!?!?!?!
😕
Another gem from the USPS

My package from Key West just bounced back to me—apparently, the recipient "didn't show up" for five days.
Meanwhile, the person waiting for it is blowing up my phone asking where it is, since they never got the package AND never even saw a delivery slip left on their door.

So I head down to the local branch today to grab the returned box and tell them, "Look, she never got a notice or any kind of heads-up that this was even here."
And they have the nerve to tell me it sat at the station for five days and nobody bothered to pick it up. Like, how is anyone supposed to know it's there if you don't tell them?

The "expert" behind the counter just looks at me and goes, "Well, why didn't she just come down and check if anything arrived since she knew you sent it?" !?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Moral of the story:
If you're expecting something in the mail—don't just sit around waiting for some carrier to knock or leave a little slip on your porch.
Just get off your butt and go check the post office to see if your stuff is waiting for you.

😵 😵 😵
okay, listen up:
I've been sending stuff back and forth for a while now, trying all sorts of ways
so here’s my little collection of confusion and "wisdom"

Usually, I just sent things in an envelope or wrapped in heavy paper about the size of a large envelope—thick enough to hold, say, a few t-shirts and some socks for a flea market
that was until one shipment just... vanished. So, lesson learned: send it as a package. That way you get a tracking number and you can declare the value.
if it actually gets lost, I have a right to get my money back.
anyway, it's like $13.08 for a value up to $33 and I think it covers up to 5lbs!

Honestly, sometimes shipping stuff as a package is actually cheaper than sending it as regular mail. I mean, anything can be a package if you just tie some twine around it.
I always use brown kraft paper because it's cheap at the grocery store, and the ladies at the post office always wrap it in string for me—usually after I've already left, though!?!?
There's this one shift at the local branch that's always in a bad mood and grumbling; even the folks over at Target aren't quite that pleasant.
So far, the ones downtown have been the best, but they don't even take packages?!?! Did you guys know some post offices won't even accept packages?!?!
Basically, I'm constantly hopping between different branches in the area, hunting for that perfect combo of nice people and actual competence!!

Then yesterday, some ladies at the counter suggested I just send it as certified mail?!?! Even though the little parcel is basically the size of an A4 envelope.
Their logic? Small parcels get lost easily?!?!?!?
I mean, wow. They really have a lot of faith in their own company. Talk about great marketing!!!

Anyway, certified mail gives you a tracking number so you can hunt it down if it disappears, and it costs around $3.25—depending on how heavy it is.

And now I realize I actually know nothing. They have these separate categories for letters, packages, and certified mail, but they don't list specific prices for everything—it's all just estimates, which totally gets on my nerves!
And why does the sender pay the postage, but then I, as the recipient, have to hand $1.75 to the carrier for delivery if they catch me at home?
And if they leave a yellow slip and I have to go to the post office myself—I don't pay those $1.75

Question for the mail carriers:
- Can I just say, "Nope, I'm not home, not happening" $1.75 , just give me the slip and I'll go pick it up myself?!?!
- And am I supposed to give that mailman I'm handing $1.75 a receipt or something to prove he actually took $1.75 from me?!?!?!?
