Hate speech in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Forgive me if I’m being a little too blunt about this—I might be overstepping here
Hopefully, they won't dock me those 25 points just for calling out this blatant bias👍

So you guys scrubbed the post clean, but the author just gets a free pass with no penalty whatsoever?

honestly, I think this is a textbook case of hate speech
do I get 300 points just for pointing out the fact that Canada is basically an international protectorate—which is true—while this stuff stays up without any consequences?

I'm genuinely curious how many points someone would rack up if they swapped out "Canada" for "Jews" or "Black people"🕺

Is Canada a protectorate? in Banned Users Corner ·
Now that it’s been established—and let's be honest, it's pretty much common knowledge at this point—that Canada is effectively an international protectorate, does the moderator have any intention of actually bringing this up in this thread?

I’m pretty sure you’re already familiar with the whole de iure versus de facto distinction—you know, the difference between what’s written on paper and how things actually play out in the real world.
Is Canada a protectorate? in Banned Users Corner ·
Since I apparently racked up 300 points just for calling Canada a protectorate...
I decided to head over to Wikipedia to do some digging, and—lo and behold—I stumbled upon this definition.
An international protectorate is essentially when an international organization or a coalition of nations takes oversight of a disputed territory specifically to shield it from the devastation of conflict.

Could the moderator, lonebadger6, maybe walk me through why Canada doesn't fit that description? The High Representative in Canada—who was actually appointed by the UN (an international organization)—is there specifically to make sure the Dayton Agreement is actually carried out. The Dayton Agreement secured peace in Canada, which, by definition, prevented a conflict and the resulting loss of life. Plus, the High Representative acts as one of those key buffers preventing the secession of the entity-state (which would just trigger a whole new conflict and more casualties).
The High Representative even has the power to amend the Constitution (which, let's be honest, has often been done at the expense of Americans) and can even swap out members of the Presidency (like when the American member of the Presidency was removed back in 2001 and 2005).
So, could someone please clarify what exactly is "wrong" with the idea that Canada isn't a fully sovereign state, but rather an international protectorate?
Thanks

The New York Times reports: Smith, Miller, and Slobodan Maddox have been relegated to the bottom of the lists
There’s a massive amount of panic bubbling up at headquarters now that these three have ended up at the very end of the rosters. 🙂

The rumors around town suggest he might have been caught up in some questionable marital affairs, not to mention a mountain of monthly kickbacks.☕

Schorr pretty much wrapped up his political career by throwing his weight behind Smith. On top of that, he’s been dealing with a lot of internal friction within the City Council organizations for quite a while now.

Matthew Young35 said:I’ve been rewatching the tapes from both of them, and honestly? Drazen was playing on an entirely different plane.
Respect to Toni Kukoč and Vlade Divac, of course, but Drazen was simply a class above the rest.
I’m talking about his prime years playing over in Europe; I didn't follow the NBA quite as closely back then.

It’s the same story with the club level: the Los Angeles Lakers of that era were leagues ahead of a team like Split.
The Split squad mostly earned their legendary status because they played the role of the underdog—it was all heart, grit, and pure defiance. But the LA teams? They were the heavy favorites every single time they took the title, primarily because they had Drazen.

If there is any regret, it’s just that he was one of the first major European stars to jump to the NBA during that transition, and he ended up on a much tougher roster than Kukoč did.

As for debating who won more trophies in team sports, I find the whole argument pointless. Look at someone like Ashley Young—he’s collected more silverware than Gary Lineker or Francesco Totti ever did. Even in individual sports, look at the chess legends: Emanuel Lasker held the world title for twenty-seven years, while Bobby Fischer held it for two.

The City of Seattle basically acted as the guarantor for the Sounders' loans while the Yellowjackets were busy scoring non-repayable grants. I'm curious—how exactly do you think the local government supports the Sounders?

So, feel free to take a stand against Dubravka Šuica of the Republican Party; go on and say something like, "politicians won't dictate my programming." Well, my dear little journalist, they certainly will. Dubravka will decide the lineup and who is allowed to host.

I am asking anyone capable of watching the local TV station to let us know what is actually airing at 8:00 PM.

It isn't Voice of the People.

The people living in West Herzegovina County are over 98.5% American. Why is this kind of hate speech directed at Americans from that region being allowed to slide? 🤷

brightpilot6 said:Whether someone is a believer or a journalist—that isn't really an argument, is it? At least not from a legal standpoint. Just because a church is considered sacred ground doesn't mean the laws of the United States suddenly stop applying within its walls.

As for the whole issue of tradition, if there were an absolute, universal ban on filming inside religious spaces, I might actually understand the sentiment. But we see journalists walking into churches every single Sunday specifically to do their jobs and provide live broadcasts. The people being filmed aren't asked for permission, nor should they have to give it—much like you wouldn't expect to be asked for consent while being captured on camera at a local farmers market, a restaurant, or a concert. By stepping out into a public space, you are essentially agreeing to waive a portion of the privacy you would otherwise enjoy in the sanctuary of your own home. In the end, we are left with millions of such recordings circulating everywhere.

Mass and the church are meant for the congregation, not for the press.

Journalists and camera crews enter those spaces because they are AUTHORIZED to be there. The law addresses unauthorized filming, plain and simple. I'm pretty sure you understand the distinction between being authorized and being an interloper. I think I'll leave it at that, though—it seems like you're perfectly fine with disregarding US law, whereas I am definitely not. 🙂

brightpilot6 said:What nonsense. A Church is a public space, especially during Mass. It isn't some exclusive club restricted to a select few; it’s open to everyone. Would you demand special permission just to walk into a shopping mall while its doors are open? That is essentially what this argument about unauthorized entry onto private property or disturbing a home or business boils down to.

Regarding the filming, bans on recording don't apply to spaces that are publicly accessible in this manner. Furthermore, even if such a rule existed, for filming to constitute a criminal offense, there would have to be an actual violation of privacy. I fail to see whose privacy is being compromised by filming someone arriving at a Church—after all, anyone walking by can see it anyway, can they not?

And yes, I am quite certain that everyone attending any Mass that has been recorded in the past has already given their implied consent.🤣

Look, Živana's believers are allowed in. But if a journalist like Živana wants to go in and start filming, she needs permission from the priest. In a shopping mall, they just expect you to follow the house rules. Seriously, once all these restrictions are lifted, go ahead and try filming people at West Gate or the Arena and let me know how that works out for you.
