Long live the new king! in Formula 1 ·

Of course; he would have likely finished at least 20 seconds ahead of Lewis Hamilton. 🙂

Yet, just two laps later, Kimi had already pulled ahead by three and a half seconds. 🤣

That is precisely my point... I remember that specific radio call quite clearly, and seeing how quickly Kimi slipped away makes this whole situation with Sebastian Vettel seem rather perplexing to me.
Edit: I am certainly not suggesting that Sebastian Vettel is a poor driver, per se, but rather that the entire sequence of events feels somewhat inconsistent. Does anyone happen to have a logical explanation for how this could occur?

Did Nico Rosberg actually make a mistake that allowed Kimi Räikkönen to overtake him, or was it simply inevitable? Throughout that entire stint, he was consistently shaving off a second or even more per lap... plus, he had the advantage of fresher tires and those soft compounds. I can't help but feel like he would have made that move regardless of any single error.

I found the situation involving Bottas rather peculiar myself; it was the very same Williams team that had been chasing after Kimi Räikkönen, yet they couldn't quite manage to close the gap...

Perhaps eleven? 🙂

I was under the impression that the tires used during Q3 had to be returned, and that we would actually be starting the race on the set from Q2.

If they continue to ramp up those upgrades, won't we see Nico slide down to fifth or even sixth place?🙂
Alonso secured an impressive 14th place finish.🙂
jadeseal7 said:What kind of penalty?

Perhaps some sort of formal warning, or maybe just a stern reprimand from a teacher... 🙂
But isn't the main point simply that he received one while Lujo did not?
Wait, so what happened there? Did Kimi Räikkönen end up serving a penalty while Lujo didn't?

It seems highly unlikely that they are having an off day. To my eyes, it looks more as though they are simply testing tire degradation or perhaps some other technical aspect...
A rather intriguing breakdown of the race... 🙂

If the rain keeps falling tomorrow, will we see Fernando Alonso standing on the podium... or perhaps not? 🙂
When Smedley strides up to the McLaren pit wall and, with such effortless speed, delivers that blunt message over the radio: "Fernando, Felipe is faster than you"... 🙂
You head over to ESPN.com, and you find yourself clicking on "convert to local time"...
Fernando Alonso is going to secure this victory 🙂
stormybadger8 said:It isn't really that Ferrari suffers from a weaker speed trap; they are actually within about a kilometer per hour of the others...

Yet, it seems quite obvious that Williams possesses significantly better acceleration, reaching that top speed much earlier in the run.😉

In practical terms, does that imply more Newton-meters of torque?
A single pit stop can be all it takes... to completely ruin someone's race.. 🙂
If they can just manage to nail a single race—actually figure out what they messed up (assuming there was an error to begin with)—then perhaps we might see them back in that one-two formation again...

Could it perhaps be the hair? 🙂
