Thinking about grabbing a laptop from Germany, but only if there’s actually a brand that won't ghost me on repairs here in the States. Anyone know a brand that actually honors warranties in America?

Gold prices have gone absolutely nuts over the last three weeks. I’m guessing some big players—maybe even governments—are scooping up massive amounts of bullion. Does this mean they're bracing for a crash that's closer than we think?

You’re right, I’m not special. Neither am I more important than any other guy on this board, let alone your family or friends. But look, if I hadn't called you out for acting like some big-shot economist while hunting for info from random people on a forum—and instead dropped links explaining how economic cycles actually work? You know, where growth eventually hits a wall after a massive run like the one we've seen for over 111 months? Or if I pointed out that much of the growth in Europe is just a house of cards built on money printed out of thin air by the ECB, which is why Italy still slid into recession despite all that cash? Or if I mentioned how Trump’s protectionism isn't doing anyone any favors, or how things are heating up in Venezuela and it’s only a matter of time before the US steps in to liberate them using their own oil reserves? Or even the mess with Brexit hitting the UK hard? If I had laid out all those facts about how growth is stalling in developed nations...
If I’d actually explained all that to an "expert" like you—someone who should be teaching *me*—you wouldn't be hiding behind "who even are you?" You came to this forum to ask questions, so regardless of your degree, what I think matters just as much as anyone else's here. I didn't come to you; you came to us. The fact that you’re getting cocky because my takes don't fit your narrative just shows you're being an idiot and looking for an out. If you'd called me names, fine, that's part of the game. But pulling the "who are you" card is just pathetic.

You haven't proven a damn thing by acting like you know what you're talking about.

but look, I just finished up my degree in economics at UT Austin🤣
and I'm currently stuck out on this tiny, desolate island where I can only grab a decent internet connection once every three days for maybe ten minutes at a time, so how exactly am I supposed to stay fully looped in on every single thing happening across the entire globe?
So, you're bragging about having an economics degree, yet you're out here hunting for advice on random forums? Make it make sense.
Seriously, how much did that diploma actually cost you?
What kind of "expert" economist are you when literally every single person on this board, regardless of their job, knows more about macroeconomics than you do?
It’s impossible to browse any news site without seeing endless warnings that we're heading straight into a crisis by 2020 at the latest. Doesn't matter if it's local news or international outlets.

The current situation has me worried though. About ten days ago, I wanted to pick up some gold, but I was waiting for my paycheck to hit. Within five days, the price jumped $50 (per 100g).
What is going on with this massive rally? It's the third highest price spike in five years. Is this because of the recession in Italy or something else? How do markets usually react—short term or long term—when a G7 member hits a recession?

How much do you actually know about economics or what’s going on in the world right now? Seems like not much to me...

I shop in Germany since that's where I live. Buying now because I'm betting on a massive surge in the next 2-3 years. If I gotta sit on it for 5, whatever, no biggie. Prices might even drop in the meantime, probably. But I'm not about to play games and wait around. Personally, I don't even look at gold as a short-term play.

What’s the actual deal with buying new versus resale? Resale is way cheaper and I don't get why...

It all depends on your timing. I honestly don't care if I have to sit on my hands for 5 or 10 years waiting for a recession just to sell.

Too good to be true if you ask me. There’s no way they’re handing out $300 bonuses when they don't even play the margin game. Not risking it—I'm sticking to the big names I trust. Found this site https://www.gold.de/kaufen/goldbarren/100-gramm/ that compares prices.
Quick question though, what's actually the difference between a cast bar and a minted one?

Anyone actually bought anything from this site? They’re claiming a $300 discount for new customers. Is that legit or just some total scam?

Hey!
I'm looking to pick up 100g of gold. Any tips on where to grab it? I've got a trip coming up in a few weeks through Scranton - Chicago - NYC - Philly... Does it even matter where I buy, or is the price pretty much the same everywhere based on the market?

How to get abs?
in Hobbies & Leisure ·
This is how I feel about everyone claiming they’ve "done their research." 99% of them are just lazy bastards who find it easier to start a whole new thread on the forum rather than actually digging through old posts to find what they need. They ask the same questions over and over and then wonder why they get a million different answers. Why the variety? Because you'll have some guy with six-pack abs telling you he does 2,000 crunches a day, totally oblivious to the fact that his core looks like that because of his specific sport, not just the reps. He could probably get way better results if he actually changed up his training routine instead of being stuck in his ways.

Look, there are idiots and then there are people who actually know what they're doing. Nobody knows everything, but if you'd actually done your homework like you claim, you'd realize there’s only one real way to get a six-pack, and it sure as hell isn't doing 400 reps a day.
1. Train abs with weight. Don't do 50 reps per set; aim for about 15, maybe 3 or 4 sets total.
2. Mix up your routine. You need different exercises to hit the upper, middle, lower, and obliques.
3. Eat right. If you aren't hitting your protein goals and you're stuck in a calorie surplus, those muscles aren't growing.
4. Work your whole body. I know you're obsessed with just the "six-pack," but full-body training matters for a reason—mainly because it boosts testosterone, which makes building muscle (including your abs) way easier.
5. Rest. Stop being a lazy bum trying to grind 400 reps every single day. Hit it 2-3 times a week with 3-4 exercises, 3-4 sets, and 12-18 reps. Muscles need recovery to grow.
Sometimes I feel like a waste of breath talking to people like you. It's obvious there's no substance here; you'll probably quit in three days, maybe even make it a week. Looking good isn't some two-week fad; it's a long-term grind involving learning and sacrifice... none of which I see in your post. But whatever, maybe someone else will read this and realize there's more to ab training than just mindless reps.
One last question for you: do you honestly think the pro bodybuilders with eight-packs the size of your biceps are out there crushing 400 crunches every single day?

Didn't crush anything with my bike or whatever, but I hit a wild hog with two piglets right in the ditch down by the outskirts of Austin. Luckily I spotted them about 50 yards out and slammed on the brakes, so she just bolted up the hill when she heard the screeching.

Can you build muscle without working out?

frozenbison72 said:They’re just messing with you, don't let it get to you. You can totally build muscle doing the same routine every day. Look at Conan O'Brien; he spent years basically running in circles and ended up ripped. If you’re sweeping the floor every single day, yeah, your biceps are gonna grow. If you’re bending and squatting while washing dishes, that’s basically a deadlift for your back. People only hit the gym because they’re stuck in a desk job all day and have zero movement otherwise.
Just keep grinding. Vacuuming, cleaning, ironing, walking, squatting—if you eat right, you’ll be looking shredded in eight months.
yeah, sure, that's why women everywhere have 20-inch biceps😂

Look, some people are insanely allergic and even a tiny amount can trigger a reaction. They might not choke out from such a small dose, but a reaction is still possible. That’s exactly why you have to list it.

It’s usually just facilities that pack other proteins too, like soy. It probably only has trace amounts, but whatever, they gotta put it on the label...
