I went through this during my first pregnancy, too. It was brutal. And I’m not talking about some childish nonsense—you know, being chased by monsters or whatever. I mean actual, gritty, hyper-realistic scenarios that play out in high definition. It’s honestly nauseating.
Some of them are straight-up terrifying—like, even a gritty HBO crime drama wouldn't dare depict them—while others are just completely draining. Real-life stuff. War zones, massive floods, seeing a car burst into flames, an assault... or those deep-seated parental fears that just won't quit. And the absolute worst part? A part of my brain stays wide awake knowing it’s all just a dream, so I end up overanalyzing the whole mess while it's actually happening.
I've already gotten used to them, but man, I am never gonna get used to sleep paralysis...
Funny thing—ever since I had my kid, the nightmares just stopped. Used to have them all the time before and even during the pregnancy. Now, it’s just these wild, vivid dreams instead.
Even a few-month-old baby isn't indifferent to how people talk. Their brain is busy soaking up early language patterns, so the way you communicate matters. I love it when my grandma tells me, "Oh, please, the baby doesn't even understand me yet." Sure, they don't get the context or the specific definitions, but they hear the tone, the melody, and the voices. And seriously, stop talking to them in that ridiculous baby talk—all that nonsense like "wittle baby" or whatever. What they hear today is what they’ll be repeating tomorrow. Why can't we just call a ball a ball? It's not that hard.
Then there's the issue of people getting stuck in the habit of baby talk. They think they'll magically stop once the kid hits 12 months, 18 months, or 2 years... nope. They keep doing it because it’s become muscle memory at this point, even though the kid clearly understands everything being said.
I know my grandma isn't going to quit just because I asked; it’s just her default mode now. I tried explaining it to her, but honestly, you can't teach an old dog new tricks...
The whole thing creeps me out. I don't see anything cute about it, and I definitely don't find it charming to say things like "is a wittle tiny bubba" just because.
And coming from me, too—I spend all day basically performing a one-woman show for my kid whenever they aren't sleeping. I'm constantly switching up my voice, meowing like a cat, squeaking like a mouse, singing, making weird little noises... if anyone overheard me from the street, they'd probably lock me in a padded cell.
But hey, at our checkup at the local pediatric clinic, the doctor was actually floored. She said she’s never seen such an eloquent kid—always vocalizing, playing with tones, "conversing," repeating sounds, and creating these melodic little gibberish songs. She was genuinely stunned. And this was a preemie who had some initial developmental delays. Honestly, maybe if I had talked to them like an idiot, we wouldn't be seeing this progress... but I highly doubt it.

So annoying.
I can't stand it when people baby my kid by twisting their words—like saying "wawa" instead of water or "piddle" instead of pee. It’s just nonsense.
It always bugged me when people talk down to toddlers like they're complete idiots, but lately, it feels like people have totally lost the plot...

I mean, what am I even supposed to say to that?

Tapatalk Isaac Keppo, man, you should've just clocked her right in the nose. Honestly, how can people be so clueless, insensitive, and just straight-up rude at the same time? It's wild...

The KP bumps and those little spots are getting super inflamed, and honestly, I'm breaking out in these annoying pink patches everywhere. I’ve been exfoliating every other day, but it’s doing basically nothing. My face is acting like I’m back in middle school with all these pimples and blackheads... Like, where is that legendary pregnancy glow everyone talks about? Where are the amazing hair and nails...? 🤦
Virgin coconut oil—if you haven't tried it yet, I’m telling you, it’s a game changer for skin issues. I actually buy mine in bulk and use it for everything: eating it, putting it on my hair, slathering it on my skin... It helps soothe the itching I get from the sun since I deal with vitiligo. Works like a charm.
It’s barely April and I’m already getting bombarded with unsolicited advice from every direction. Buy this stroller because it’s the best, or don't buy that one because it's a total waste of cash. Just throw your money away, right? Apparently, strollers from $1.75 are considered "budget options" now.
A friend showed me a photo today of her using a carrier that was basically a safety hazard—the baby looked like they were about to slide right out. And then she tries to sell me on this idea she heard from some lady at the hospital: that you can only use wraps or ring slings until the baby is three months old because after that, they have to face outward.
Honestly, between the hormones and this nonsense, I'm one step away from a heart attack.
And why am I being grilled about whether I have a matching changing table and dresser set yet? Why am I even looking for stuff? I’ve got plenty of time—I literally just bought a dresser and I'm still saving up for everything else. People act like if you don't buy certain things, the baby is going to grow wings or something. It never ends.
Plus, it drives me crazy when I can't even figure out if I'm allowed to drink a specific tea because one doctor says yes and another says no. Same goes for meds, creams, or whether I actually need this prescription. Nobody seems to know anything. I swear, I just want to stand in the middle of the clinic and laugh at the whole thing.
Why didn't you just take her out with a clothesline hook right in that smart forehead of hers?
Honestly, I'm just sitting here waiting for my old neighbors—you know, the elderly types and everyone else—to finally lose it. Can't wait.
here's a solid video for you guys 🙂 they should probably just loop this on every subway car, in offices, at grocery stores...
Ladies, I’ve gotta say, I have massive respect for you guys.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/944999check this out... 🙂

Sarah Castillo74, where on earth did you find that????
I got my little bell-shaped coffee mug during Women's Day and it is seriously the cutest thing ever! 😍>
It’s tiny, gorgeous, and jingles when I move it.
Still hunting for more stuff though.
Send me some ideas.....
Awww, I remember that. Honestly, you’d probably find that kind of nonsense with those old guys selling balloons and bubble wands near Central Park...
Hey there! 😉
Been flipping through some local catalogs lately, checking out all those heavy-duty upgrades and gear... Most of it is just the usual high-performance, sporty stuff.
Honestly, I want to do something a little ridiculous with my bike. 😍
Heading out tomorrow to grab this
http://img580.imageshack.us/i/zvoncenuvokavazaweb.jpg/If you guys know any cool shops around the D.C. area that carry weird or wacky stuff, send links or addresses my way. Also, I'm totally open to any DIY ideas! 😍
It’s not astigmatism, just a slight difference in prescription on one eye—maybe like -1.12 or something.
Thanks so much for the reply.
So I actually headed over to that Mickey Mouse optical shop on Rockefeller today because a friend swore by them. 🙂 They did the whole nine yards—full eye exam, digital scans, all that stuff. Turns out I’ve got a -1.25 prescription. It’s honestly the worst kind because you don't even realize things are blurry, but my eyes just absolutely wreck themselves after staring at my phone, laptop, or reading too much...
I grabbed some frames right then and there (my head was killing me, felt like Harry Potter, but now I look like Harry Potter 🙂) and I'm picking them up tomorrow!!
Sweet!
So I head into the eye doctor today and tell the guy: "Look, I've had this constant headache right in my forehead for months now. My eyes just give out whenever I try to read or stare at a screen. Can I just take one of those computer vision tests to see what's going on?"
"Sure thing," he says.
Then we go through the whole routine—one lens, then the other. I can see everything perfectly except for that damn back row; everything gets blurry, here and there. After cycling through 4395723905 different options, he looks at me and goes, "Actually, you see pretty well. You don't need glasses, or maybe you should just go see an ophthalmologist for a full exam."
Now... look, I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure life would be a lot easier if I could watch TV, use my laptop, handle college presentations, or read my study guides without my head throbbing and my eyes feeling red and exhausted. Honestly, I wouldn't mind having some glasses to wear specifically when I can clearly see that I... NEED them.
What's the move? Should I hit up a different clinic tomorrow for a more thorough checkup? And should I even mention what this guy told me today, or just keep it quiet?😕
