I can personally vouch for the fact that Windows 7 covers just about every game imaginable 😬 even those ancient titles that used to run exclusively in DOS. These emulators really are nothing short of miraculous...

I’ve been running Windows 7 personally since the RTM release, and honestly, I have zero desire to ever touch Windows XP again. I’ve rolled it out across all my machines, stay current with every update, and there is simply no looking back for me. My only move is forward, unless something significantly better drops in the near future...

Even in this corner of the internet, you people felt the need to post some redundant list of top-selling models...
That is exactly my point...

I have already laid out the chronological evidence proving that we Americans have purchased several times more Motorola phones than iPhones... So why on earth would this be considered an advertisement when discussing MTT isn't? Does this mean we now have to speak in code whenever we bring up the specific devices being debated... 😲

Give me a break, seriously... stop talking nonsense...

Moderators, lock this thread. If William Green4 has any issues with my stance, he can reach out to me via private message... everything that needed to be said has already been laid out here... 👍

William Green4 said:as I stated before, this thread was started because someone needs to actually step up and handle the moderation...😍

I know more about vBulletin than you might realize, though that’s entirely irrelevant to this specific discussion.
The search function is outdated, but that has absolutely nothing to do with how the administration is run.
Furthermore, this is a free country; if you want to launch your own news site and advertise whatever mobile phones or carriers you feel like, go right ahead.
I have zero connection to this American forum, nor do I have any ties to phone manufacturers or service providers.
However, I am speaking out against your little revolution because this is an independent forum and I would prefer it stays that way. Unless, of course, the owner decides to take a bribe for advertising—which is his prerogative—in which case my prerogative is to simply stop reading it.
We understand each other, don't we?...

I couldn't care less about the moderation. 🙄 The moment I mention that I don't want to get involved in those matters, you immediately push back... 🤦

No, the search engine isn't outdated, period. 😬 🤷

And as for the advertising? What kind of nonsense are you rambling about? 😲 This conversation is about how to properly organize the forum to assist members with their inquiries, not about peddling brands. You're starting to veer off on a tangent that has nothing to do with the actual topic at hand. 😁

The leadership has been made aware that obvious changes are necessary, and frankly, I don't see much point in dragging this discussion out any further.

Regards.

It is common knowledge that moderators on these mobile forums aren't always around to police everything, usually because they have their own lives to attend to... however, if you happen to spot something that shouldn't be there, you can always flag it to hollowtrucker77 or tyndall, and they will step in immediately...
Well, that’s exactly how I handle it...
As for you two, who seem to be the loudest voices on this board, acting like you're practically campaigning for moderator positions... I honestly have no idea what you think you've actually accomplished by saying any of this...
I find this entire method of dragging people into these debates absolutely repulsive, and I am certain I am far from the only one who feels this way...
It would honestly be an absolute catastrophe if anyone actually handed moderation duties over to you... especially considering that aside from yourselves, there are only a handful of other people on this forum who possess even a fraction of your supposed expertise... my dear experts...
Thanks for the attention and the kind words...

How much experience do you actually have managing vBulletin, and just how deep does your knowledge go regarding its internal search engine architecture? Do you even grasp the mechanics behind how vBulletin executes a query... because honestly, the way it handles searches is nothing out of the ordinary... ☕

Brian Peterson5 said:Let me pose a question here: how many iPhones were actually sold in America last year compared to Motorola? I honestly feel like the sheer number of users and the volume of discussion surrounding a specific brand serves as a true metric for whether a PDF is even worth creating... though, if that were always the case, we’d probably still be sitting around talking about Siemens...
Milestone seems to be the only player actually seeing any significant traction in the American market, while everyone else... 👎 But that's just a fundamental failure on management's part... Since roughly 80% of all handsets are sold through carriers, a device like the ZN5 would have been an incredibly strong and affordable contender within a major US carrier's lineup... $33 I suppose we should finally get around to discussing the various service plans and rate structures available... if anyone actually cares to dive into the specifics...

William Green4, I have to agree that PDF MTT is one of the more pleasant personalities on this forum, though my own take is that his appeal stems primarily from... lighter... Just because it’s a specific topic doesn't mean there isn't room to make things a bit more tolerable. Personally, I don't bother posting in the Economics section, even though that happens to be my field of expertise, mostly because the whole thing is just an endless, exhausting slog of political economy, market theories, macroeconomics, and a million other useless distractions...

That’s all I have to say on the matter...

In the States, when you look at the market share compared to the iPhone, Motorola sales outpace Apple by roughly fifteen times... Do you really want me to start listing the specific models that people are still using in droves even today...

I’ll lay this out chronologically, starting right from the beginning...

The Motorola v300...
2. Motorola phones...
3. Motorola phones
The Motorola v3i and that Pebble U6... they really belong in a different era entirely...
The evolution of the LTE2 platform is finally bringing the Motorola Krzr K1 to the American market, a device that was once an absolute sensation...
The era of Linux is finally upon us, which means the Motorola V8 is officially on its way out...
Following that release, the ZN5 will emerge from the Motomagx series...
The Aura has finally arrived, marking yet another entry into that niche category of overpriced Linux-based devices...
Linux Milestone...

I’ve put together a list of the nine most significant Motorola handsets, though that’s assuming we aren't even going to get into the old platforms like the v3690, the Startac, or the Timeport...

I’m not including those dummy phones in these lists, like that entire W series they rolled out here in the States...

I have to agree, marketing is a brutal game and we've certainly been fed a fair amount of garbage from Motorola lately, but it feels completely absurd to try and draw any meaningful comparison between how many Motorola units move here in the States versus the sheer volume of iPhones...

Regarding the moderation and the general organization of things, I have no intention of getting bogged down in the details, as the moderators are more than capable of identifying expertise and handling their own business, but I certainly won't shy away from saying that a complete reorganization of that department is long overdue... 👍

Brian Peterson5 said:Look, Motorola has a handful of models, but by the time they actually make it to the US market, quite a bit of time will have passed. Just look at how much HTC and LG drag things out, and see how many posts there are about them, let alone the threads regarding carriers. Even if we made a PDF specifically for Android, it wouldn't solve anything because we'd just end up with duplicate posts again. It might be better to rename the PDA subforum to Navigation, and all those remaining PDA devices could just move over to Other mobile phones. Cafemobil is a completely different beast with a totally different community; our users here really need to learn how to use a search engine and actually check existing threads and the rules before they go opening something new...

I never suggested splitting off Motorola or creating a dedicated PDF just for Android devices. I honestly don't know, but I'm not sure how well you actually understand the sheer volume of Motorola devices and how many of them have even hit the American market...

http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola-phones-4.php

As for the categories, in my opinion, a single category for Motorola or LG deserves its own space far more than the iPhone does. Apple has only released four devices, whereas LG and Motorola have hundreds...

brighttiger5 said:Well, the search function doesn't even work properly on this American forum. That’s why I tolerated people not using the [Like This] format in the subforum for a while, since there was no point in following it if the search is useless...

I appreciate the understanding, as I can't moderate an entire subforum effectively—at least not at a high standard...

Mobile telephony is a massive subforum. If it weren't for some miracle, like separating it from the rest of the main site, it could easily function as its own standalone forum...
So, the issue is somewhat larger in scale than it appears at first glance...

And yes, the diverse range of forum members presents a major challenge, including potential clones who intentionally violate the Rules...

We'll likely need at least two moderators to maintain any kind of balance and oversight within the MTT subforum...

The search works perfectly fine. I don't know what to tell you, but somehow I always manage to find whatever I'm looking for on the forum. I just ran a test in MTT and it works like a charm...

feraltrucker5 said:Is that so? Since when? 🤷

I'm curious too...🙂

brighttiger5 said:MTT is in total disarray. We are severely lacking moderators. I actually proposed a specific community member for the role some time ago, but that suggestion simply vanished into the endless sea of debates over in the Mod section.

The reality is that we require at least one more moderator because our scope covers the entire mobile spectrum, from Alcatel all the way to the iPhone. On other major American sites, they have massive infrastructures in place, ranging from super-mods to extensive moderator teams, but here on this forum, the situation is what it is.

I ask for your patience. Please continue to report issues and do whatever you feel is right. Whenever someone reaches out to me via PM, I make sure to respond.

On a personal note, I’ve been dealing with some hardware failures—my laptop died on me, leaving me without any internet access for a month and a half—and I've spent the last two weeks traveling for work. Life happens, and obligations pile up...
My apologies to anyone who feels slighted or neglected in any way, but this is simply the current state of affairs.

The Mod team (or so it sounds beautifully🤣) will do its part at MTT, and I ask that you do yours. I am hopeful that we can find a resolution that works for everyone involved.
To be perfectly clear, do not expect the level of order found on a site like Cafemobil to manifest here within twenty-four hours, because quite frankly, it is physically impossible. Achieving that would require spending at least two full days straight cleaning up the subforums.

Best regards!

The kind of discipline and order seen on Cafemobil will never be achieved here, primarily because we are constantly flooded by new users while the existing ones remain largely inactive.

That said, it is commendable that you stepped up to address this. I previously suggested moving Motorola into its own dedicated category to account for the influx of new Android devices. It would immediately alleviate the pressure on the main sections. brighttiger5, you know better than anyone the direction Motorola has taken, and since you are active on Cafemobil, I suspect you would be the first to agree that this move would provide much-needed breathing room.

As for everything else... I wish you luck in your endeavors.

Someone mentioned that high-quality posting is the key... Well, that holds true in an organized forum. In a state of chaos, it certainly does not. Personally, I have no desire to waste my quality contributions on a subforum where disorder reigns and such effort goes entirely unnoticed. 😉

Regards.

I’ve noticed the same thing—that particular sub-forum is a complete mess, despite having a decent amount of daily traffic if my observations are anything to go by. I actually reached out to the administration with some suggestions to clean things up, but they shot me down...

I’m really hoping things turn around soon, because looking at the absolute chaos currently unfolding over there, I have zero desire to get involved. It’s a shame, honestly, because I’d love to step up and help out given that this is my area of expertise, but there's nothing to be done right now. So, we wait and see if they decide to fix it... 🙂
Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
Try switching your microphone input to the specific device that Windows 7 installed via your actual driver, rather than just relying on the generic one that comes pre-installed in Windows...

By the way, you should probably check the pinned thread regarding Windows 7 issues at the top of the forum before posting next time...🙂

vividdriver2 said:Hey there,

I have a quick question regarding my setup. I just finished installing Windows 7, and while the system recognizes my Intel hybrid TV tuner card as hardware, the included software, PowerCinema 5, isn't playing nice at all—it seems like they might not actually support Windows 7... I tried installing PowerCinema 6 since it's supposed to be compatible, but it’s either not working or I’m just failing to configure the settings correctly.
Is there any other software out there I could use to watch TV instead?

Thanks in advance for any help.

It probably can, provided the software you choose can actually communicate with the card... though you should really check the manufacturer's website first, as there might be updated drivers available specifically for Windows 7 that would solve this...

Ashley Turner51 said:When I went in for my HIV testing, I couldn't help but wonder about their hygiene protocols. Specifically, I noticed piles of needles sitting in plastic trays, but none of them were individually wrapped in sterile packaging or foil. Is that actually standard practice?
I've already been tested, and my results came back negative. But now that I'm home, I can't stop overthinking it. Why on earth weren't those needles in their original sterile packaging?

They were most likely already used and just waiting to be tossed in the sharps container😉

God help me, because my loading speeds have seen a massive jump lately. I’ve tested this on four different machines across various high-speed internet tiers, and the performance is actually quite respectable... Sure, an error might pop up once in a while, but that’s just standard procedure. You hit an error, refresh the page, and everything is back to being fast and functional again.

In my opinion, this represents a significant leap forward, especially since I've been around this scene long enough and have gathered enough experience to recognize a drastic improvement when I see one... ☕

Nothing out of the ordinary here, I just noticed that since the last site maintenance, functionality and speed have increased drastically. There are zero errors, and the loading times are significantly faster now. My guess is you either migrated to a new server or completely overhauled the current one...

So, you have my praise, and if anyone else feels the same way, please feel free to weigh in here.

Ultimately, thanks for making our lives a little easier. 😬 👍

PS: since you pointed out the graphics card—I actually have a 512 MB one sitting in a box somewhere waiting to be installed... eventually... 🙂

My apologies for any friction caused 😬, but that was simply how it came across to me 😉

I keep all my critical data on a dedicated partition, which saved me from the headache of that disastrous upgrade and the nightmare of trying to recover files using some secondary system. I enjoy tinkering with different operating systems, and occasionally, things don't go quite according to plan...

My Windows 7 installation is completely stock, and I honestly haven't encountered any issues regarding speed or functionality. I actually disabled the taskbar grouping feature—it only takes about 30 seconds to toggle—so every window label is clearly visible 🙂, and the thumbnails are a genuinely useful touch.

As for opening folders, everything happens almost instantaneously on my end, so I have no idea what you're talking about.
If you aren't a fan of Windows 7, then just stick with Windows XP until MS finally decides to pull the plug on support...
I'm running an HP machine equipped with an Intel E5300 DualCore at 2.6 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, integrated Intel GMA graphics, and with this setup I handle Photoshop and InDesign without a single hiccup. Everything remains fast and stable. I am satisfied. 🙂

machine 🤣 🙏

Honestly, it's a good thing they let it slide; if I saw someone opening duplicate threads like this, I’d be handing out red cards left and right. 😬

Are you actually sure you're performing your duties effectively? Did you even bother to check if my specific responses were already present in those other threads? Instead of acting like some self-important know-it-all who found my thread so incredibly eyesore-inducing and disruptive that they had to shut it down, they could have simply merged it with the existing one if that was truly the issue... rather than taking this arrogant, condescending approach of just closing it.

You people are moderators. You have those tools at your disposal. I don't. ☕

I have no way of knowing if a particular thread is going to explicitly irritate some moderator, nor do I necessarily know exactly where to hunt for an answer. And as for that moderator—the one who felt personally offended by my "thousand repetitive questions"—perhaps they should take a moment to examine their own conscience and ask whether I really did anything wrong by starting that damn thread, or if I was simply trying to find information on a forum designed specifically for exactly these kinds of inquiries...

What is the absolute worst thing that happens if a thread isn't merged with another? If that's supposedly the core issue...

No, this isn't right. And no, I don't deserve a strike. Especially not for being "arrogant"... ☕

Am I even a visible presence on this forum? 🤦
Thread closed for no reason in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Look, this is simply about getting some clarity. There are several points I find completely baffling, and since my own searches didn't yield any useful answers, I'm left wondering why some self-righteous individual decided to shut this thread down as if they were some kind of absolute authority...

Hold on, do I really look like someone who lacks common sense?

1. I haven't been given a single explanation
2. I see absolutely no justification for why this thread was closed
3. I fail to understand what mistake I supposedly made
4. I am more than well-acquainted with the forum rules
5. I want this thread reopened
6. The moderator has no standing here because they failed to provide an explanation, which was required...
7. I expect a formal apology from the moderator in question.

If I had been trolling, being insulting, or asking something genuinely idiotic, I wouldn't be bothering to speak up, let alone file a complaint. I certainly wouldn't be complaining. In fact, I usually just take the hit and admit when I've messed something up...

But this time, I am not in the wrong, and I am demanding a response. Thank you.
